Regardless, buyers wont bother. They'll see enough displayed without more hoops to jump through. Most will just select the first hits on the first page as always. They're not going to go out of their way.
Unless the subject they're searching for is a bit rare or not common. In that case, they might get no search results at all with the filters in place. 0 results. Then they might receive a message saying that filters are enabled (prompting them to disable them and search again with no filters.)

Congrats Patrick! Beautiful image!
Thanks for the good words. Ive just been informed via e-mail that if the image is clicked, it opens up to a larger uncropped version. Alas it is a low res version and super dark for some reason.

The 2025 exhibition winning entries have been uploaded. https://kangarooislandartworks.com/easter-art-exhibition/easter-art-exhibition-2025/Mine is the waterfall image further down the page. Unfortunately, it's not a good representation of it. The print is not dark like you see on this page. I don't know why it looks so dark here. It's also been heavily cropped (and that's something else I'm puzzled about.) The actual image is square shaped (printed from 6 x 6cm film.)

Yea you're likely right. I won't be expecting much in the way of sales on SS from this point onwards. I only have a small video port on SS and sales are generally rare. I could imagine now that sales are going to be even rarer for me. Like super rare. I'm going to have to forget SS as a potential source of income. I had better concentrate more of my energy on the other agencies. SS is a dead weight that is sinking to the bottom of the ocean.

To recap, for a buyer to see everyones content now they have to
(i) run a search (ii) change from "Highlights" to "All images" (which isnt all images. Its misleading) (iii) Notice the "Filter applied: 1" box (iv) click that box (v) scroll down (vi) select "All images" in the filter list
That simply isnt going to happen.
I just did a search for some of my files on the buyers site. No results found. However, a message came up saying that there may have been some filters affecting the search. All I had to do was a single action (one mouse click) to deactivate the filters and then my files appeared in the search results.
Yes, but if you do a new search then the filter is automatically reinstated (so you see unlimited only). For each search you have to disable that filter. At least it seems that way.
Oh, when I did multiple searches with different keywords, the filters remained deactivated. That was my experience last night.

My personal feeling is most people don't actually "use" 4k, they just like to "have" 4k if they can.
In other words - it is not like people are actively seeking out 4k. They just periodically get it if it happens to be there.
And in other other words - basically I'm saying I don't believe your sales would increase significantly if you did all 4k, so probably not worth the effort.
Oh yea wise words. And it is a huge effort. More like a hassle.

Its made it to my region desktop now.
So it seems now ALL searches on Shutterstock from buyers now default to "unlimited only" so hide anyone not included or opted in from being sold EVEN IF THEY BUYER HAS ANOTHER ACCOUNT OR NO ACCOUNT. A buyer wont notice, they'd need to see the little "1 filter applied" message and be bothered enough to click filters, work out whats wrong and turn it off. Most wont bother.
I notice they havent bothered telling any contributors about this change.

My gosh, just when I thought things couldn't get any worse for the stock industry. SS always finds new ways to screw us over.

Ah great thanks. I just did that (pushed the dates back further.)
I came across some more 4k videos of mine that were sold (just a few.) And I see that they were all sold at HD resolution for a few dollars each. Yea I think I'm leaning more towards the idea of uploading HD videos to AS in the future.
Think twice about that. Sure many customers will buy your 4K video at HD with a low price. But when they do buy 4k, it pays a lot more. For example I get $2.80 for HD but also a $55.63 for a 4K download. So, if you only have HD you would be missing out on the bigger sales most likely. But I don't do videos that much so not sure if my sales figures tell that much. Just saying.
Yes, valid points. For a long time, I have submitted 4k videos to different agencies in the hope that I would get some high earnings. But that has never happened. Ive never sold a 4k video at the standard 4k pricing. Yes, a customer could purchase a 4k video though AS but more than likely, it would be a subscription sale in which case I would only receive a few dollars. The other thing is that uploading 4k videos to AS is a major pain due to my super slow internet speed. I could spend a whole day trying to upload a single 4k video multiple times throughout the day and not succeed. Though oddly, I can upload 4k videos to P5 with hardly any issues. Due to that, Ive accumulated a back log of 4k videos that are yet to be submitted to AS. Today, Ive started uploading HD videos to AS and the upload speeds are blazingly fast. And no issues at all. It's so much more efficient.

Yes, export it as a .csv file (when you are looking @ your earnings), and you can see those details.
Ah thank you. It would be great to have some instructions on how to do that. I don't really see much in the way of earnings information on the AS contributor page. If I click on my current earnings amount on the top right of the screen, I'm led to a page featuring sold files with ID, type, upload date and earnings. But I can't see any export options there.
Go to your Insights tab (My Statistics), change data type from Top Sellers to Activity. Adjust your date range and click Display Statistics. Click on Export as CSV in top right.
Thanks for the instructions. It's a pity that we can only push the date back so far. I would have liked to see the earlier video sales. Regardless, I managed to download the CSV file. There's a few video sales in there. Most of them are HD video sales simply because those particular videos were uploaded in HD from older cameras. There is one 4k video sale (and it looks like it was downloaded at 4k resolution.) I got $4.20 for that one (subscription sale.) Not happy. If I switch to uploading HD videos to AS in the future and continue to upload 4k clips to P5, I just hope that buyers would go to P5 to buy the 4k clips. Then again, if buyers have a subscription with AS, I guess they might stick with AS and buy a 4k clip of the same subject from another contributor (if I only have HD versions available.)

Looks like I'm safe for now. I don't see this program in the licensing options in my account page. I didn't get the e-mail either. I hope I can stay out of it for good (wishful thinking on my part.)
Anyone who has been accepted can deactivate this offer in their account.
Yea. For now. But we don't know if the 'opt out' option will be removed in the future.

It is possible to find out what resolution our videos are being sold at (from the individual sales)? Unfortunately, these days, I usually get around $4 or $5 for my 4k videos. So I'm curious if they're being sold at HD or 4k resolution. This may influence my decision as to whether I should continue to upload 4k videos to AS.
I know it's still possible to get good earnings from 4k video sales on AS these days but those instances are super rare and it's never happened to me.
It's also a pain and a massive hassle for me to upload 4k videos to AS. By contrast, I can usually upload 4k videos to P5 without too much trouble.
Going forward, it's a possibility that I may be uploading HD videos to AS instead of 4k.

Thank you all.....I didn't expect to get so many replies! Well done! Dont keep us all in suspense - lets see it!
The image itself is not currently online.....however.....for the past few years, the winning entries of the previous exhibitions have been displayed online by the organisers. So hopefully, the 2025 winning entries will be uploaded soon.

The 2025 East Art Exhibition has recently opened on Kangaroo Island in South Australia. This is the largest art event on the island. I won First Prize ($1000) in the Photography category. For my one and only entry, I did things the old fashioned way by shooting on medium format film with a twin lens reflex camera that was designed in the 1950s.
By coincidence, my photograph that won Second Prize in the 2008 East Art Exhibition was also shot on medium format film as well (but with a different camera.) Both prints are fairly large (close to 60cm on the long side for the 2008 exhibition and 60 x 60cm for the current exhibition.) I also managed to receive a Highly Commended for a 3D anaglyph image (shot on 35mm film) at the 2010 East Art Exhibition.

I wonder if Alamy are accepting video again. I'm currently about to sign in on their site and I see some video footage being displayed (something Ive never seen before on their start up page.) And there is some text that says: "License your photos, illustrations and videos to the world's leading brands."

same sh*t here ... zero downloads in 10 days ... before Shitterstock i was at 350-400usd a month .. let's thank Shitterstock for the great destructive work done on pond5 ...
what i wonder is where those sales have gone. my hunch is demand for stock video isn't down, it's just the sales volume on pond5 appears almost gone. the only place i sell video reasonably well is adobe even if the revenue is low.
If that's the case, I wonder where the editorial video sales have gone.

Ive never had big high value photo sales on Adobe. A few times, Ive had some of these on the other agencies like around $20 or $30 etc. I did get a $2.59 photo sale on AS recently.
In the past, Ive had videos sell on AS for over $20. Though these days, videos usually sell for around $4 or $5 on AS.

A few of my best sellers were removed as "non-compliant" for use of AI. I don't use AI. I never have.
Terrible stuff and totally unfair. I hope you can appeal.

I had this email too.
It seems to have binned 15 out of 20 of my last upload batch and nothing else at all. No idea what criteria they used there. Seems very random. These were real images not AI (aerial shots of tropical rainforest).
I was expecting to be Ai, because there are more easy to replicate than real images
It's just as easy to produce a similar or nearly identical looking photograph. Simply shoot the same subject twice or more with the same composition. If the camera's mounted to a tripod, the resulting images are going to look the same. Or alternatively - create another copy of a photo file on the computer (Save as) and there you have a duplicate.

I did not receive this e-mail. Regardless, I still looked at my 'non accepted' files and didn't notice any extras in there. Don't recall seeing any 'similar' rejections.
I don't know why so many people are convinced that this must be related to AI imaging. There's no mention of AI in the e-mail text in the opening post.

OK after more digging ive found a possible cause and its moronic. They SEEM now to split base form verbs. Enter "Ski" and it goes in. Then enter "Skiing" and its rejected for an invalid keyword. Same for run/running, walk/walking.
Very interesting. With the first editorial video that I submitted under the new system, they accepted 'shops' as a keyword but would not accept 'shopping.' However, they did accept 'shopping center.' There's another weird thing that happens after my videos have been reviewed and approved. Ive gone back to a few of these latest videos and added some extra keywords and then clicked 'save.' Then I receive a confirmation that the changes have been saved. After that, I try to exit and a message comes up that says: "Unsaved changes. Are you sure you want to leave? Your changes will be lost when you leave." I exit anyway and return to the same videos and note that the changes have indeed been saved. I also get the same message if I enter the edit mode of a video and make no changes and try to exit. Very buggy.

I'm still trying to decide whether the underwater stuff should be commercial or editorial
That depends on the subject matter. Usually, it takes me about one second to decide if a clip or photo needs to be commercial or editorial.
