There seems to be an issue with the way black and white photos are displayed on the preview on Stockfresh. My images look a lot brighter than the original files. Anyone else?

Hi, wondering if any of the sites provide some sort of photographer ID for us? Can be useful in many situations.

A bit off topic as i use Nikon but i have the same problems with 24mp Nikons. I changed two in the last year both 24mp and the focus is soft when using the viefinder. It's better with live view. Also the Scene settings work better on Live View. I didn't have these problems on 12mp cameras. I checked the forums and it seems that a lot of people complain about focus on 24mp cameras both Canon and Nikon. They suggest shooting Live View but that is really not ideal for me.

I don't know about Canon but if you decide to buy Nikon i would suggest looking at the 5000 series (d5000, d5200, d5300 etc) as it is better for stock compared to the 3000 series.

Guys, i think it's time to let go of the whole Greece VS Germany thing. Just because populist politicians and media in both countries want to put the blame for Greece's problems to Germany and vice versa doesn't mean that they are right. We as educated individuals working in an international environment know best and we should not embrace populism.

There are many populist anti-EU parties on the rise in Europe at the moment, very similar to Syriza and ANEL which govern Greece at the moment so keep that in mind the next time you vote and vote responsibly.

I'm Greek and i feel the current government is irresponsible towards greek people who willingly or not made big sacrifices for 5 years and they are irresponsible towards the rest of Europe and european people who trusted us us their hard earned money.

We needed just 1 million in reforms before Tsipras took over and now after 6 months of "negotiations" and delay we need 8 millions in reforms.

Yes, i also think it could work this way. A generous raise from SS at this point could damage a lot of the low earners trying to sell subscriptions, newcomers to subscriptions and DPC. Why buy a competitors site to close it down when you can drive them out of the market by keeping the contributors happy!

I'm a little confused, do we have to request payment from pixmac or they pay automatically through pond5? Hadn't checked since they were bought by pond5 and now i see i have enough for a payout. Would never have checked if it wasn't for this thread i thought everything migrated to pond5. Do you still upload to pixmac or is that taken care of by pond5?

Never heard of them but there are some interesting points in the article.

I think however that we don't need a spotify for stock but a bandcamp. People who are serious about music prefer bandcamp because they can download directly from the artist/label and they have a choice between mp3/flac and many other formats, real innovation not just cheap streaming like spotify. Most indie labels reacted to spotify feeling ripped off but are embrassing bandcamp and sell CD's and digital formats through them.

In our world that would mean that we can upload and sell directly, set price, sell a whole series or a single photo, automatcially offer jpg, tif or any other format and size needed by the customer at no extra charge. We are still missing a site like that, that would act not as a stock agency but as a place to sell direct at the price we want and offer product that is tempting to those that care about stock the most, serious clients that love photography.

Hi, found one of my images on greetingcarduniverse.com.

It is a card with my photo plus added text under it. When i click on the image to buy the credit is as follows: Artist: Someone Else (who i don't want to name) and under his name there is the text: Original image by (my username on bigstock) / Bigstock.com

I checked some other cards and i see the same thing on many of the other cards, what's going on is this some partner site and they have people adding text to our photos to make cards?

Searched this forum and i see that some people are using them to sell cards, maybe they know what the deal is?

Interesting concept but price is $1,00 for any image size and use?

Maybe you could try to open with a video editor and then crop the part that's usable? That is if it's possible for the video editor to open a corrupt file and show the frames.

I always thought that customers would pay higher prices if they were reminded of the license before download. Many customers download an image as subscription or single download when in reality they need and would easily pay for Extended license if they were asked / reminded of the terms right before the image download. And after they have purchased the image they don't bother or give much thought to the proper license. In a way it doesn't feel like cheating to customers to use an image past the maximum reproduction limits or display it full size on their website. When they have already payed for it they feel they can use the image as they please.

For example i suggest that when someone adds an image to his basket on the download page i think it would help to put a short disclaimer about the max. reproduction they are allowed under this license etc and they need to check and the according box. Also they could be given a link and encouragement of sorts to upgrade their download to Extended.

In photoshop under the noise filter there's an option called despeckle, i think it's similar to descreen.

Well he's going to want  to buy a photo to remember the incident, don't sell it to him cheap! Also if this story gets published in biographies, music mags etc.

About the free one, i thought about it and decided against it because as noted there could be issues with other agencies but mostly because it would be like giving away all sales for web use. Actually i see a lot of sales for small sizes so giving them away for free even at 300x400 pixels seems risky in the long run.

I wonder how many microstock reviewers (not on SS particularly as i think they are serious enough but in general) would recognize a photo of for example Robert Frank if you showed them one. Do they know who Man Ray is? In short wondering if they have serious photography training and interest or if they just know how to check for noise, purple fringe, etc. What sort of tests do the agencies run to choose appropriate reviewers?

It's a mistake. I've sent a few from a small village and soon they added it to the CV keywords and not just the name of the village but they also added named places within the village.

I don't mean they should check all the boxes just the really obvious.

For example most people when inserting "industrial" as a keyword don't mean industrial music. In such obvious cases it would be best to have the correct box already checked. I mean there's 1 in 1000 chance that someone means "industrial (dance and electronic)" for the keyword industrial or "Rusty the horse" when typing rusty as a keyword.

The lazy people would have their keywords butchered like the rest of us! I think they should do it, it hurts my fingers and brain to click 50 - 60 times for one image upload. At least let's have some defaults inserted.

Too much clicking going on to upload files! For the keyword "metal" i have to choose between "Metal (Rock and Roll)" or "Metal (Material)", for the keyword "rusty" i have to choose between "Rusty (Old)" or "Rusty (Named Racehorse)".

Was wondering if it would be easier for most of us to have the most common use already checked - rusty (old) - and - metal (material) - and if someone is posting photos of rusty the horse or a heavy metal band they can correct and check the box.
