I would say that it's more than anything the photographer. He/she will know their equipment,it's limits and how to get the most out of what it offers (saying it's a cheaper one).
Switching from the Nikon D70 to the D200 did not in any way make me a better photographer. It just gave me more MP to work with. But I will forever yearn for the sharpness I once had when shooting weddings with my Bronica MF.

Dan your photo makes me think, "Bruce Willis does The Terminator". By th way, can someone tell me how to figure all these formulas for comparisons, now that I finally have sales to report! Yeah! Also, what is BME??? Thanks, Silly car buying all day long, Connie... OMG! I just realised I could have been all over that dealership taking shots of people looking at cars, buying cars, signing their loan docks.... everything! Just need my camera and model releases. DARN! So far I have 123 images at 123RF. Since the begining of December I've had a total of 2 sales. One a subscription and one a credit. Is it worth continuing uploading to this site or a waste of time?

I just received PSE The Missing Manual through Amazon. Although I've just started using it, it seems to be a very good book. Detailed information without being too technical for those of us that AREN'T computer nerds. Good Luck!

OK, I want to play but I haven't found any sales yet. So here's one of mine that traveled across the united states from one new station to another with "30 photos that make you go awwww". They were everywhere! I was right up there next to Getty Image pics so I was proud. Been in the local paper for fire shots as well, but nothing I was paid for. Thanks for letting me play! Connie

Gee whiz! I was just accepted to SS today (still waiting to see what images were accepted as they don't show yet) and I hope I don't later regret it.
I've seen on thier forum where photos were purchased at cheaper prices and then used on calendars in the UK. I can't tell you how much that would suck to me to get $0.25 and then have the company get away without paying the EL price.

I downloaded the free trial of Illustrator... needless to say I'm lost. I tried using the help menu and was able to make a few images but have no idea what makes them a vector. I saved as PDF, blah, blah... now to learn in less than 30 days to see if it's going to work for me. Perhaps I should stick to photograhy.
Thanks, Connie

I wanted to give Vectors a try and was wondering if there was any easy software that had a trial download so I could try before I buy.
Thanks! Connie

It varies s bit. If I'm shooting non sale photos just for personal use and want to relax while doing it I shoot on Priority. If I'm shooting with my macro lens or studio shots it's manual all the way including my SB800. I was having trouble getting the right light for my isolated shots and as soon as I went manual on the flash... boom... perfection! (That was last night ) Connie

Please no Sharply! I've valued your input so far.
Since I've just begand I'd be happy right now to make $100 per month, but I would like to get to at least $1000 per month by the end of 2008. I can see it, I can feel it now I want to taste it!
BTW, Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays everyone!!! This group has been such a blessing to me!
Best, Connie

Although I do have some people shots I've not uploaded them there yet. Since I just began with them 3 days ago I wanted to feel them out before doing the MR thing. A friend mentioned that maybe the fleshtone triggred something in their program.
I just thought it was a funny situation... hmmm maybe I should send a MR for the cockroach. He is under 18.

First off, I love the less than 24 hours review time my first batch of images. I do seem to have a model release issue though. I submitted a single image late last nightand saw today that hey are waiting for a "model release" before it's accepted. "Attach model releases to all photos with recognizable human faces." Here's the image: So I wrote to them: >My most recent uploaded image, "Cockroach on Hand" is in pending waiting for a model release. "Attach model releases to all photos with recognizable human faces." So my question, are you wanting a model release for my hand or the cockroach? LOL I can send one for my hand but the cockroach has trouble holding a pen.< Think they'll still require a MR? Now to glue the little New Years hat on Squish and shoot some more... Smiles, Connie

Real newbie question here, but, how do you add the information (FTP?) to your photos? This one by one key wording is killing me!
Thanks, Connie

I too am about ready to give up on Alamy. Uploaded my 1st 4 and 2 were rejected with a "fix and resubmit" option. So I fixed the two (I thought) and after WEEKS of waiting the 1st of the 4 was rejected again and the others failed just because...
Why do I want to keep waiting weeks and weeks! It's frustrating enough waiting for DT and IS but 4 at a time every few weeks I could be at this forever!!!

Ditto!! I was just rejected 10 for 10 and 8 were noise and 2 were lighting. 9 have already been accepted at other sites. Although I'm sorry for those who were also rejected, I'm glad I'm not alone.
Do they look at these in a way I can't? I looked at each one at 100% before submitting and trust me I wouldn't have submitted photos with noticable noise for my 1st 10!!

I had my 1st real day with FT today. So far 4 photos accepted and 3 declined yet the photos are no longer there so I have no idea which ones they were. Is this normal for FT? 2 messages had no ref numbers and the one that did does't match any of my photos. I'm affraid I'll submit the same ones again since I hadn't documented my uploads yet.
thx, Connie

I just started submitting to the big 5 + Alamy and I am going nuts trying to go back and forth between each site know what I've submitten, when, etc.. So I started an Excel file with a tab for each company and have my submissions listed, etc..
Does anyone have an easy alternative, or do you just not worry about it and not keep track.
Thanks, Connie

As college students we would sit in the jaccuzi and read short stories from "Shaterday". He really shou,d have made it bigger in the field like Koonz and King. Anyway, I got a differnt take on what he was saying and I guess what played into my obrsevation of it was partially do to the fact that I was working on my Model Release today. The part that says they have reveived"valuable consideration" for their releaseing all rights. I had someone ask today, so what's my valuable consideration? When one of my adult kids asks, "what's my valuable consideration" I say, consider this... you want car rides? Dinner? A roof over your head, etc... then pose and sign! You've recieved valuable consideration. But why would joe shmo on the street was to sign a MR for nothing? I'm sure they do all the time, but I'm just waiting for the ball to drop. My 2 cents (Love ya Harlen) Connie (Very tired so spellimg doesn't count) www.ticopuppy.com
