Site Related / Re: What are these stinking ads doing here???
« on: November 07, 2008, 10:52 »
No problems on right, but on top it eats valuable real estate :(
Can we trade clicks for moving it to bottom? :)

Very good! And, BTW, I personally would not mind if you add some ads, and will click them if you do (though not too often to avoid you being accused in click fraud)

 ;D sorry, no sexual acts , please !  ;D ;D ;D

Maybe they meant opposite - they said they want it more evident?  :P

This one made me laugh so hard...

When iStock said 'lighting' - no contest. But here -

"Subject not evident enough - hard to tell what the subject of the photo is - sorry, thanks"

11 of 15 rejected (10 of them - 'over filtered'). No sales for 9 days. Sudden move from #2 earner to #999....

Sad, but this is their choice.

« on: October 10, 2008, 09:39 »
I had even better with them (around month ago). Uploaded with ftp, (here is a caveat) waited some time, went to the site, pressed 'process ftp uploads (or whatever it is called there)' (all of them were still sitting sitting in upload place).
Browser transfer to the next page - and I see mix of pending, approved and rejected. Page refresh - and _no pending_. Assigned release to a photo rejected for missing one, returned back - and it was _already_ approved.

Seems like either a) a lot of quick reviewers pre-reviewing files as soon as they can see first several bytes of it, or b) somebody made a really good progress in AI research :)

On RPI side - you had the best day :)

I've had a request from one member that they not be added to the list.  I think perhaps it would be best to only add people that want to be added... or people who post in this thread that they want to be on the list.

It  really makes no difference - anybody can create own list and add anybody, so if one shares IS login - it is available.
BTW, if you as paranoid as I am about sharing your passwords, you can create a dummy IS account, login to the site and create your own list

1. Monthly income  / total no. of images - does not make any sense cause it will keep going down when you add more photos

Why? I think it will go down if you _do not_. This number is more or less reliable if "average" MSG member keep in pace with other stock submitters. If we submit less - they get more, and opposite.

I think astrocady's variation is a good way to go (if you increase in a port size < 10%, even this is too complex, use either end or beginning of month data, does not make almost any difference)

General Stock Discussion / Re: When to upload seasonal images?
« on: September 26, 2008, 09:55 »
Since August my Winter images are selling well.
I had a nice surge of winter scenes sells in several agencies in June-July.... But everything depends on the particular stock's search (that's why I've suggested one more option) and intended use - small images and SS have emphasis on new, everything larger and 'extendier' - all over the year. So, if you have > 60% income from SS - try to time the market, if not - does not matter.

I think there are two options missing:
- depending on agency
- does not matter

I've never seen more steady income than at SV!
I love stability! Exactly $0.3 each and every month!  This means I can know for sure my payoff date! I believe they have it at $10? It will be in less than 3 years!

Ouch. Looks like Attila visited IS... But this one is IS-specific Attila - I can buy most of his rejection reasons, only percentage is troublesome.

And, despite being slow....
Just made some calcs today on my port:
60% of their rejections were accepted in IS
35% - in both IS and SS

They also get my vote for the most ridiculous one:

Can you guess? It is obvious!
It was rejected for cropping.
I know, my bad, next time for an ocean shot I'd rent a space shuttle.....

I believe that the problem is in general PSM attitude - 'we know better what is good for community'
Thus 'constructive' means only 'constructive for PSM'.

For PSM users:
Bugs may be very system-specific, and it is quite possible that you are fine. Way to verify:

1. _Copy_ a bunch of files edited with PSM to a new place (if you do not have a backup)
2. Open folder in adobe bridge
3. Select all, Label - ***** (ctrl-5 on pc) (or any other label)
4. Visually check all thumbs - if all of them have '5*', you are fine.

Microstock Services / Re: Cushy Stock or Prostockmaster???
« on: September 14, 2008, 23:31 »
Each has bugs, just choose which ones you want to live with.
I do not know what to choose - damaging adobe-specific data in PSM or loosing individual image status in CS (really, not loosing, but now I see several dozens of rejected in DT files as being approved)

(OTOH choice in these two cases is pretty trivial, second one does not damage images)

Microstock Services / Re: Prostockmaster WOW!
« on: September 14, 2008, 23:23 »
There is one more significant problem that stops me from using PSM - it damages the adobe-specific data. To the level that if I want to change e.g. rank in bridge, for ~30% of files edited with PSM I'd have to re-open and save them (loosing quality).
This was true for previous version, I have no desire to try a new one until somebody assure me that damage will not happen.

Check your saved password. Tools - options - security - saved passwords - show passwords - find bs.
Most probably you've saved an incorrect one

General Stock Discussion / US microstock visitors data
« on: September 06, 2008, 12:53 »
I've updated microstock traffic data and ranks at http://rollingportfolio.com/ for August. As I am using compete.com as a source, it is limited to US traffic.
Interesting thing - first time none of top 14 changed rank comparing to July

It´s highly recommended to upload you initial images in the critique forum at SS for help.  I didn´t, and tried four times before I got in.

I recommend not to do this.

1. You will get a lot of [valid!] critique for images that are perfectly acceptable
2. You cannot submit images in sufficient for critique resolution if you do not want to make them FR instead of RF (Free of Royalty :) )
3. You cannot submit links to other stocks

Better way is to find somebody whom you trust (most of this forum would qualify) and ask for a help (and pay for the help by using referral link)
