Adobe Stock / Extended RF License for $4.60?
« on: April 04, 2011, 14:46 »
How much customer pays for EL? On Shutterstock I receive $28 for EL.

@melastmohican:  Wow... great shot.  My wife and I are very envious of that adventure.  I'm afraid we may have gotten too old to realize our dream of doing what you did.  Is it very strenuous?

My trip to Peru was organized by local travel agency and it consist of two parts: 4 days in rainforest location and 4 days trek on Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Second part would require walking on high elevations so it might not be for everybody but I have seen 60 year old people doing it. If you have more time you can spent some time at Cuzco to acclimatize so the walk is not so hard. One of my friend who is 60, went to Mt Everest base camp (much higher than Inca Trail) but he was riding a train from China to get slowly used to altitude.

Why did not put it on Shutterstock as editorial?

I would have to go back to Peru to get model releases :-) Wait, some of the people were tourist from all over the world :-(

Tiramisu!

What kind of tiramisu? For years I have been doing traditional coffee based tiramisu but recently I tried strawberry and pumpkin variations and they are pretty good too.

Here is my recipe:

Confirmed. If I check off Fotolia Workflow there is no Javascript error.

Error on Fotolia editing page:

Warning: Non-standard document.width was used. Use standard document.body.clientWidth instead.

Software - General / Re: What do you use to process RAW?

At first (long time ago) I was using Canon's Raw Software. Later I was using Capture One. Currently Lightroom.

How can I get to Options. I wish I could disable actions for Fotolia cause I got Javascript errors.

FileZilla is cross-platform and free.

Shoot raw so you can modify WB later. Grey reference card can help you set it right. Bounce light of white surfaces.

They answered to my partner question and it is 123RF but also more partners will come.

Of course when you can upload directly and set your own price you will be competing with millions of third party images.

Maybe they should send back their videos and other stuff back to 123RF. They do not sell other media :-)

I haven't got any official email stating that I can upload images. Actually I can find my photos there but all come from external account. I do not if they got user interface to submit photos.

All images got "Copyright" watermark which is similar to what Reflexstock is using.

264
Is queue for editorials same as normal one? If I have to wait 2 weeks and submit in 20 images batches it will not be newsworthy anymore when I am done :-)

123RF / Re: Editorial FTP uploading
« on: March 14, 2011, 22:19 »
Gee I moved files then I found this:

"You can upload several photos at a time to our FTP server:

   1. Install FTP client software.

   2. Configure your FTP connection to the following settings:
          * Host Address/Server : ftp.123rf.com
          * Username : Your login
          * Password : Your login password at 123rf.com

   3. Once you have connected, create a new directory called "editorial".

   4. Upload your Editorial images into the editorial directory.

   5. Once the uploaded has been completed, you may click on the link below to process the files therein.

Click here to process your uploaded files."

123RF / Re: Editorial FTP uploading
« on: March 14, 2011, 22:09 »
I do not remember creating sub folder. When I logged using FTP client it was there so I decided it was created for me to put editorials in it. I am moving files to my root folder now. Then I will nuke 2 sub folders I got there: "editorial" and "images".

I found "editorial" sub directory in my root so I decided to upload images there. When I am trying to get them processed nothing is found. Am I doing something wrong?

123RF / Re: Nothing happens
« on: March 11, 2011, 13:03 »
I got a little above 50% accepted so it was not that bad. Usually when reviewers are in hurry they reject 80-90% :-)

Also sales seem to be moving. Is it because of new files?

I got images sitting in a queue for a month, almost no sales for couple weeks. Is it just me or something is going on with them?

They were updating numbers from partner program for last 3 days. Is it so difficult to get list of sold images from a partner?

Tried new portal. Just to many things to set for each photo. I hope that if I do editing in groups it can make reasonable defaults for things I am not touching.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Istock raises payouts to partner program
« on: February 24, 2011, 14:29 »
I decided to opt out now after participating since ThinkStock was opened. Results are actually pathetic and number of downloads is going down.  They were not able to attract enough buyers to make it viable competition to Shutterstock so I will no longer going to help them competing :-)

If Getty identifies that there is a threat that Google would start such business they will strike a deal with them to give 10% of our share to Google :-)

Off Topic / New subscription services from Apple and Google
« on: February 16, 2011, 19:16 »
No it is not for images but mostly for publishing digital content on the web (magazines, blogs, etc). Interesting part is that Apple is taking 30% from sold subscription which seems like opposite of what stock distributors are doing. To make it look even worse Google announced competing service and they take only 10% :-)

Hopefully these services can be adapted to sell other types of digital media :-)

I was using Yuri's tool for a while:

Then I found Find keywords page:

Right now I am trying to make my own page on Google Apps (not really ready for prime time yet :-))
