Got Racephoto's, thanks! I ahve not even ordered my prints yet...
On my side I have just completed the graphic design for the postcards, and will be sending to a print shop today. My first thought to be quick about it was to go to Wal-Mart and print them there since that's about the only quick solution I have here in my small town, but after doing the card it would be a shame to print this on low quality material. It might take a week more but I'm having them print at one of my printing provider for my company... will be worth the extra time to wait On my side I received RacePhoto (Thanks for the Starved Rock photo and history), Opla (wouldn't want my kids going to school next to a 90km zone road ), and Reckless (really awesome illustration, very talented!!) Will keep you posted (haha) when mine are in the mail!

And you and my older daughter also have something in common for 2012, since she & her husband are expecting a baby (boy) early May. First grandchild on both sides of the family.... a (furless) model who (literally) can't say no!
Hope you'll have a chance to share baby pictures down the road, Morphart.
Congratulations to your daughter... and for the grandmonther-to-be! I will definitely share some pictures, as you say, this model can't say no... yet!

It's very slow there. With around 1300 files I only just reached the Green Camera level - which is only a measly 50 sales!
I must admit I had greater hopes for this site, but after nearly 2 years there, I'm pretty disappointed with the sales.
Am I the only one being a happy camper at Canstock? For my part they do VERY well, being my second best agency after Shutterstock and giving me payouts twice as big as Fotolia and 123rf. I have a large vector or Illustrations portfolio which might help my case (I start noticing that Illustrations seems to sell better there than photos). Also when mostly selling vectors we get 2.50$ (sub) or 5.00$ per image download, which adds up quickly. I have 721 sales since I joined in January 2011. So my guess would be, for Illustrations Canstock seems to have a nice market there, but for photography, from what I hear from most photographer, they just don't sell enough?

The sales have never been there. It's a shame, but it is not a lack of investment in the site that's the problem.
Am I the only one making money with Canstock? It's not the first time I hear this, and it does not compare to my experience with them. Anyone else make a decent income with them? It might simply be that my portfolio is vector where most if photo. I have a lot of vector sales at 2.5$ and 5$ commission for me which do add up quickly, but I make at least a 200$ payout each month with them, where I do half that on Fotolia. Am I the only happy camper of Canstock out there? :p

re Morphart: "I just got my new baby girl on the 17th (yesterday), wasn't here for a few days, but tomorrow I should get the time to complete and send the cards."
Congratulations, Morphart! My baby girl turned 30 on January 17th!
@Ann Wow what a coincidence , same birth date for your <<baby>> as mine... Your baby is as old as I am... I turned 30 the 17th... of July . @Madelaide Thank you for you good wishes and blessing !

Well, iStock has the worst upload and also sells quite a lot And sites like canstock have a very good upload and don't really sell much.
I think there are way more factors that need to be considered
For my part Canstock is my second best seller, they sell more than Fotolia, 123rf and Dreamstimes for me (I have a vector portfolio). Not sure there is a link between bad upload system and sales. I think there are various factor like user friendlyness of a site, it's marketing and it's prices... Of course the files found there (related to uploading) also affect the buyer, as if he cannot find what he is looking for, he will look elsewhere.

Worse -- it's back to the monster error page. "The glitch monsters are at work down in the dark internety room, but they sent a note up that said: Dear You, Me fix broken thing. Sorry for trouble. Love, Monsters."

Just saw that "monstre text" on my iPhone... Very unprofessionnal indeed... The French version is better though, simply telling the site is down for maintenance. Sounds like a Nerd text a programmer left there. "Me cookie monster no like server wires. Me eat em, yummy! Want some?" I am sorry for all of you exclusive contributors out there, it's really a sad story going on... I remember finaly getting approved as a contributor at iStock, and happy I was. However since then, the downhill slope and long submission time discourage me to upload more over time. Seems we are witnessing the sinking of Atlantis...

Anyone else get a whole bunch of refunds on Alamy yesterday? I had a dozen or so. All purchases under $10/each. Could this be related to fraud, or do they just save up all the refunds and add them to our accounts at once?
I checked Alamy forums and didn't see any threads on the front page about it, so maybe it's just me.
Anybody else?
For my part it was a deception... a 250$ refund (150$ profit gone )

Congrats! How exciting Morphart! (I wonder if we will be honoured with a new baby girl postcard?)
Sounds like the shop will be done with my computer Thurs or Friday so I hope I can ship too.
Race, got yours today! Intersting story. Thanks.
Morphart, Congratulations on your new baby.
Thanks to you both , a very happy moment in my life. I was not sure if there were any rules as to what to put on the postcard, but yes I will definitely send you a picture of her, ''freshly out of the box'' . Eager to see your postcards also! Thanks for the postcard and for the story Race!

Jonathan, thank you for sharing such a beautiful experience. So many are or feel invisible to the public, and even for just a moment you gave them a voice and looked them in the eye.
You see the pain in their eyes but despite their situations you got them to focus on some personal positive. Bravo!
Good point! Truly warms the heart to see this!

Did you offer any help to any of these ppl, or you just used them to kinda grace yourself with this video?
Things like this remind me a bit of some of the 'fledgling young photographers' I know who's first shot at being an artist is getting into the face of these poor souls with their dslr's, do a B&W conversion and then an exhibition and walk around like a little peacock trying to establish themselves in the art community. Man if I could I'd just punch them into paralysis. Yeah, and then it's me being negative, not the whole thing...
@lthn Wow you have that nice honest work there, which basically highlight the positiveness of hard situations, and there is always someone trying to diminish it and try to show the negative side of it. Find it funny that after the honest and positive answer to this post by Johnatan you don't find anything else to say?

This sounds very interesting. Didn't catch how it works. How to we get the address of the people to send to? Basically you: - Prepare a postcard as per your last post... Then...? I'd like to participate but not quite sure how this works (I'm a slow learner... but when I learn... I learn for good )

Maybe you have already seen this. It should be funny but this situation is so well known to me that it almost made me cry :-)
Hahaha..... so good... and so true . No matter how many pitch you make, a lot of time clients just go back to the first one

why have you decide to join on their website? do you know anybody reporting sales from there?
No it was just referred to me by someone as I have a lot of old 18th century images in my portfolio and there is a decent amount on their site, thought I would give it a try. I am not at Yay nor at Zoonar, didn't they they were partners with them. Now that the process is done I guess I'll just submit, wait and see if any extra income comes from there, will keep you posted.

Is this the same portfolio that is at other micro sites? - in which case I can see why they would do that. If it is a different portfolio but they are doing this merely because you sell other stuff as micro that is another story - and guaranteed to keep you selling micro and thus competing with higher priced offerings no matter how good the images are.
Yes this is the same portfolio I have elsewhere, trying to maximize the profit off my current portfolio. I am not shocked by this, I can understand that if I sell my images at 10$ everywhere and they try to sell the same image for 40$ they will have a hard time. Just found it funny as I never heard of LBRF before

how have you add your portfolio into Agefotostock?
I have already portfolio there from Yaymicro (LBRF) like half of what I have in Yay website
But I have also my portfolio into Zoonar, a little more files but cannot find it on Agetostock and they have been approved for that partner and a few others..
You can find all the info here: http://www.agefotostock.com/phroad/ingles/phroad00.aspBasically it's a lengthy process. You contact them, then you need to print and sign contracts. then send DVDs of your portfolio that you want online to them by mail along with the contract. Then they get to the system, have to be selected, once selected they are processed and once processed and if the files are OK they are sent over to be sold on the web... and then you need to choose 2 categories and few other tick box for each of your images and submit them to await keywording approval (your IPTC data is read but they ask to choose 2 category) Hope this helps! Don't know yet if it's worth it, my images

Just found this funny today, I went to the whole process with Agefotostock to get my portfolio on their RF site, took a while and they explained me...: In your case, we have taken more time in editing your material because we noticed that you are a "microstock" photographer. Consequently, your images cant be uploaded as Royalty Free (RF) and we have moved them to our Low Budget Royalty Free (LBRF) offer named "easyFotostock".Just found it funny... and I guess it really represents most of what we sell... LBRF, I'll use that one in the future (Don't ask me the difference between RF and LBRF, except the price there must be something in their license but... still funny )

Anyone else having slow sales at SS? I usually have sold about 25-30 at the end of the day but the last days it hasn't been above 17. Today I have only sold 4 !(luckily an EL included) Especially US sales are way down.
Yes slow starting of the yer for me also, but it should move up next week I guess. Most schools are still closed until the 9th so not everyone is back to work 100% yet

I would refer my partners but not to anyone who treats them like slave .
don't worry, you never heard what they say about us on our back...hehehe... here the westerb PC rules simply don't apply and don't exist.
however, let me remind you in most of asia a 3-400$/month salary is very good, almost on par with doctors and engineers unless we talk of china/japan/HK/taiwan/singapore/malaysia... claiming that half a dollar per keywording is slavery is simply not true, sorry, not even in countryside India, Burma, Bangladesh... i know people living with 5$/day with wife and 3 kids and they're not starving.
Why would you want to remind me this? Remind it to yourself, you are the one calling them slave monkeys. I pay them, for me it would be too low but I understand that for them it's good money, that's why I treat them as collaborators. You seem to have a fixation on Asia, but they come from all over the world, and most are from India. If you want to pay and treat them like slaves, it's your choice, but they'll give you slave work also. Find good English speaking competent and learned contributors and you'll progress.

and you might have better luck finding someone if you eliminate the words 'slave' and 'monkey'
exactly my thoughts
... Good luck I have collaborators who profits with me from my stock growth. Try teaching monkeys to crap in your hands if you want, won't help you with that. To my collaborators, I give them all in all 400-500 images to keywords per month, at .46 to .50 cents each. No upload. I would think uploading and processing the images to the site should be at least worth another 0.50$. I prefer uploading the images myself to the sites, then ask someone to process them in bulk at .15 to .20 $ depending on the site complexity and time it takes to process them to the site. I would refer my partners but not to anyone who treats them like slave . Good luck with you Zoo business.
