If you're 'new' to photography, and decided to jump right into submitting, it's likely you don't have a consistent quality that will get you a majority of acceptances.

I'm sure Kelly is on the job.  Just yesterday I bought an image and it was emailed to me because they were having issues creating small and medium versions.

2653
There's a difference between "I intentionally shot this out of focus on purpose for an artistic reason" and " I shot this pineapple in my kitchen at night with my macro at 1/10 2.8 handheld and it shifted because of a nearby earthquake".

2654
Many designers crop out a small portion of an image to use, so it is important the whole image , or at least the important part, is sharp at 100%, so as to satisfy their needs as well as someone who uses the whole thing.

Looking at the comments, I find it a little funny that these photographers who were (presumably)  happy to go out and eat the costs of their production for their hobby or whatever are suddenly upset that the amount they would get paid from the licensing isn't enough to cover their outlay.

Yep, got my email - thanks!

And got my payment.  The circle of life is complete.

the cycle isn't quite over yet- you forgot now you can pay the bills   ;)

I already spent it on my Stocksy models last week.

"Our vision is to fundamentally change the way photos are licensed." - I don't see anything that fundamentally changes anything.

The comments below by the photographers aren't particularly positive, lol.

2659
I've always ignored their requests for my numbers.

""I'm still not down to eating ramen noodle soup and cans of tuna fish for dinner just yet.""

One small can of decent tuna fish is 6 shutterstock downloads  ! ! ! !

or...

Six cans of tuna fish is one decent shutterstock download. ;)

This was a little weird, but of all the FB lookback links people have posted, this is the only one I took a few seconds to look at:

2662
Which sub forum is it in?  The link won't work.

Maybe it's the compression or something, but all the coral looks out of focus.

You can win in a big way if you become a factory.  Check out this guy:

Africa Studio--390,000+ images and growing!  Who is this mystery person (or people)?  They must be buying out other portfolios or other people's pictures.  That's the only way I can understand having that many images.

Seriously though, who is this??????

Wow, that's a lot of images.

GL was actually on a very nice curve up, but then dropped back to November levels with a total of $27.  Sales down %30 on Pond from December at $34.  Sales down 90% on 123RF to $15, because my Santa images there were what was selling in December, since I put them in my featured list.  Otherwise, nothing of mine shows up in the search.  DP actually grew %30 to $130 over December - I get several sales a day there.  And, of course, SS brought in several hundred.

Oh, 2nd best BME on Stocksy.

Thanks all.  I just thought it was weird that, boom, the money just seemed to disappear with no record of it being "removed" from the balance.

Ok, my balance got reset to zero, which I assume is because of this:
"When you reach your minimum payout level on the last day of the month, a payment will be processed and your Gross Earnings will be reset to zero to start a new earnings period. At that time you will also receive an email from us notifying you of the pending payment. Once your payment has been processed around the 15th of the month, your earnings will be shown in your payment history, which can be accessed under "Stats" on your contributor home page."

A: I didn't get an email about it - is that broken or anything
B: Is there any place you can see your historical total balance, or what that payment amount will be, or anything?

How many images of your port are you planning on submitting to SS? And what is your cut off production year? Just out of interest.

I don't know.  I'm still going through stuff from 2006!

I would say, that is unwise.
Do the opposite.
Take the newest and best first, get them up and earning. Find out the trends and then leave those out that are not worth  their upload time.
It also has to do with how you present your work. You have two pages: Newest first, how the customers sees that, and the most popular. All the other pages are burried, and is only fill for the search machine.
Make sure you get a grip in the customers at once, and dont leave them to wade trough old pictures.

Everything I've uploaded has been selling so far.  Pretty much.

Well, it took me 12 days, but I broke $100.  Reminds me of iStock in 2005. :)  Just Fyi...

Took 7 days for the next $100.  So, things are going ok, I think.

Right, I was just commenting on that: "Thousands of photographers are now monetising their back catalogue through ImageBrief, and last month we had a record average of $2152 an image. "

As I read most of the imageBriefs, I think they are mostly asking for custom shoot, merely by how specific the requests are.  There are a lot that are like "so and so place at Christmas", but there are a lot with certain people in certain locales doing a certain thing, composed a certain way.
