Matt, found on other forums that Adobe does massive give away of imagery to attract new clients. Here msg members can comment on this, because i am not a new user. For all of us it will be interesting to know that Fotolia and Adobe will keep guarantees of user setting, for example: no free, no exclusive. You answered that you forwarded this to the team, but now this question about give away arrives regarding Adobe itself. Any progress on this? Please comment.

Selling Stock Direct / Re: Selling video direct?
« on: June 20, 2015, 00:21 »
The question is a traffic and security.
If you go to service - then traffic can be a problem, they pay for clouds and this explains many things regarding search. Photos require less.
If you go selfhosted - or you have to pay for expensive but very qualified hosting or care yourself on dedicated hosting. Your time and knowledge invested there and less time for your direct business. Last time i found that hosting with which i was many years has changed. Downwards. I am again with problem of choice and happy that main portfolio is at photodeck. But only photos. Cheap hosting is not a solution for online shopping at all. Even static website needs attention often on such hostings.

Pierre, if you write a book, then create a movie - i wish you to become a millionaire, you can. No sarcasme, but if?

283
I still have files there, but don't upload. For shutterstock i did a program which checks for keywords changes if any, for iStock API i don't want to spend time, because restoration is useless there. They will delete them again. Nobody will find broken window if there is just "construction" left.

Interesting - this night my site was attacked. After i published about this projects of law? Same hand

We have to worry. If no discussion, this will pass. I shared links with some journalists.

Matt,
the watermark is too simple and not covering enough. There is still possibility to balance interests of designer and vendor. Comp quality is too high for the comp, for my opinion.

Another question: do you have plans for Editorial and RM content ?

Guarantee of settings stability, like "no free section" , "no exclusive" ?

No answer - found myself. You have a bug. Your system shows different digits for credits on sales page and on convertion page. Entered the smaller one from sales page and payment pass

And my question: i tried now to convert credits and send them to my PayPal address. I entered the sum which was convertible and then your system tells that i don't have credits enough for convertion - "Vous n'avez pas assez de crdits disponibles pour procder leur conversion."
Your instruction tells "Ds lors que vous atteignez 50 Crdits gagns, vous pouvez les convertir en argent via PayPal ou Skrill (anciennement Moneybookers)" and my available credits were more than 50. Tax form ok.
New "bug"? Before i had no problems.

Tried to download free images from different sites, including 500px to see and in all cases i was disappointed with quality. For usage in any way these images were not worth for further postprocessing. So for what serves this give away? From buyer POV i would be careful to buy something for enough big poster from other artists, because i already saw "the samples" proposed by the agency. Noise will not be visible on web publications, but on full size prints - it can be only as intentional effect, which has nothing to do with bad post processing

...What I dont get is that the Stocksy packages are for sale for a lot of money. The pineapple pack cost $1300. If  were a buyer, and bought that pack for that kind of money, I would be outraged over the poor quality. Stocksy shouldnt want to sell that.

I can't imagine anyone on CM paying $1,300 or $2,800 (flower bundle) for anything, so possibly there'd be no outrage in practice?

I did once download a freebie photo pack (several months back) from Creative Market and the quality didn't look great from the thumbnails, but I thought I'd see what the 100% view looked like.

The bundle was uniformly dreadful - but it was free, so no harm done. What surprised me was a pile of comments saying "wow - great pictures" and "how useful" and other compliments. Perhaps people were just being nice? Perhaps the pixel peeping that the micro agencies have trained us to do isn't something buyers care about?

Yeah, I once downloaded a freebie vector just to see, and it was an auto trace of a photo...not acceptable to any of the big stock sites. Useless unless you wanted to just output a small jpg for the web. If you output it any larger you'd see it was just a jumble of blobs of color.

« on: June 09, 2015, 00:53 »
For me giving for free never worked. Never any kind of positive. Resulted always in demand of more free stuff and threatens. And i don't want this "lottery" of rejections on one site to kill good sales of the same files on other sites. It is me who uploaded files and i only can decide to sell or to give away. For me absolutely no matter they speak about 3 files or mass give away, i just don't want such choice.

Something fixed, other are there.
I always had checkbox for editorial checked, never unchecked, but now it is unchecked by default and i have to check it for every image! Stupid move to proof salary of somebody. They answered that photographer have to verify that it is checked. No way to keep default checked! Or they just don't want to tell that they don't want editorial - how many photographers didn't notice this change last month?

Here were already published digits about free and paid. If contributor does not want to give away his images he should not waste time to check settings again and again. Everything above applied. Still.

The same - free section was set to true when i started to process uploaded files, but in my settings i set it to false. I deleted uploaded files.

Similar to Maximilian. Only last time i deleted images from such places like YAY. Other low earners don't deserve daily attention, but why not to collect what they finally generated?
