I went to try it out, but unfortunately, the images on my search won't load, even after a few minutes. Well, I guess there's two or three loaded, but the loupe doesn't show anything.

Google spins their algorithms like penguin and panda and can drop sites into the abyss overnight. This could happen to stockphoto.com and the party is over.
Also, their site is dreadful. New buyers are expecting better and more full-featured sites. It is funny and kinda misleading to state " since 1995". On the other hand, it looks like it has not been updated since then
I remember on Happy Days when Fonzie wanted to update Al's menu with new images and he had to use stock photos...

Jumping into a 250k 'investment' with no knowledge of the industry, and one contributor doesn't seem very smart to me.

I don't get why anyone wants to bother bringing him up at all.
Jealousy, most likely.
Don't think so. Didn't you read the points about the poor professional keywording?
Were there helpful suggestions for where to get better keyworders or were there conspiracy theories about no one inspecting his work, sarcastic remarks about 'professionals' and 'special' agreements, etc... ? I have no problem with people trying to be helpful, wiki the files, contact an admin, send him a sitemail, suggest better keywording services but that wasn't the point of the thread. (Before it got deleted I even saw someone trolling me in that thread.)
That doesn't indicate jealousy. It indicates annoyance. It isn't the forum's job to help him improve his work.

Have to agree with KB. Keyword spamming is dishonest and, while I'd be personally be slow to call someone on it, I don't think someone who does this has a legitimate complaint if it happens.
Maliciousness and incompetence and all that, I guess.

Strange. It's not like posting a memorial is a banning offense.

You are correct in assuming that a stock agency will claim they are the "middle man". Per every Terms of Service I have read, the contributor indemnifies the agency. I recently contacted a very large rights managed/"traditional" agency about an issue and the response was that the contributor is the one that has to deal with issues arising from copyright and right to publicity claims per their contract.
Yes, it's unlikely any stock agency will take any responsibility. For all the talk about exclusive protection, IS was always good about passing any issues to the contributor. Unless it involved cash for them, and then sometimes they would chase an EL down. I have an image that has been used in Walgreens circulars for years, and they never really did much about it. I pay around $700 and that includes around $14000 in equipment.

About the same as last month. Majority of income from Stocksy. Otherwise: DP - $100 Pond - $75 Self - $35 GLStock - $25 and the newcomer: 123RF - $100
Whoopie!
It's a tough life out in the cold. Sean, does the thought ever cross your mind that protecting your income by avoiding sites with subs has the effect of utterly undermining how much you might make? You could probably pull in 20% of what you used to make at iS from SS alone, and I have a feeling that would put your $100 from 123 in the shade.
I'm not keeping accurate records site-by-site (it seems like a lot of work for no return) but I do know that last month was about 25% below my BME, whenever that might have been. Probably a couple of years back now. As I've been pretty inactive for a lot of this year, for one reason or another, I suppose it's not too bad. I'm trying to push a lot more content through now in the hope that it might pay me one day.
I'm not trying to protect my income, in the sense that I think not selling my content on subscription sites will make people want to go shop for it elsewhere (they won't). At this point, I'd just rather my content was licensed by people that assign it some more value than another item on the $5 buffet.

I supposed this is answered somewhere else, but Sean, why not SS? Or are you only submitting video to the other guys perhaps?
I'm trying not to submit to sites that would sell my content by subscription.
I'm not trying to be a smartaleck here, wonder if you have done some evaluating that is more scientific than mine! But DP and 123 also sell subs, and the RPD was for me at those two sites about 75% lower than SS's. At least it was when I submitted to 123, I dropped in January and may not be current on what is happening there. Those two sites were particularly bad, and after DP gave me $2.64 for an EL last week I intend to drop them also. (Pretty soon I won't have anyone left LOL) I really understand not wanting to give your library to a subs site, but if you make 100 at DP you should make $1000 at SS (I make about $10 there for every $100 at SS). Sorry, I know you've already evaluated this already.
I don't sell subs on DP or 123.

It is odd. It isn't like he was some bronze cannister with 20 uploads. Mark was a major dude. I'm sorry they didn't see it necessary to mention it.

" it's worth selling them to micros."
Well, they'll never sell, so I don't now if that's worth it or not.

Here we go again with the staged look. Leaf wont allow us to post examples, but please, stop saying Stocksy images are not staged.
Someone once said here, to paraphrase, instead if taking most comers and editing for the photo, Stocksy edits the photographer and takes most photos. Maybe they thought we had enough photogs in that vein right now? So it's not that 'staged' is a four letter word, but right now the banks are full? Dunno.

"Couldnt it be that buyers look for your images on Stocksy since the images are only available there? "
Well that's the point, right? All the images are only there.
Lol, I think I discovered I don't have as large a buyer base as I thought...

"I just can't see it working out to anything that way. :/ "
It depends on your work, I guess. Most of my new series have sold. I had five sales today so far, one uploaded in the last couple of weeks.

Everyone is so excited about the opportunity of being accepted to Stocksy but could anyone, who is already in, confirm that it makes financial sense to devote one's best works for them ?
No, because it depends on what your best works consist of

Is there any mention of his passing on the iStock forums? I looked in the illustration forum and some others but didn't find it.
Not that I've noticed.

Stocksy is series exclusive, not image exclusive. So rejects can go elsewhere as long as they are not part of an accepted series.

I wonder how many image buyers buy via their phones.
That what I think. However, I'd like my symbio site to look good anyways, and it's kind of a jumbled mess.

Automatically going to the new post in a thread still isn't working. It just goes to the top of the newest page.

It's going around facebook, but in case you weren't friends with him, Mark Evans wife posted several hours ago that Mark had died unexpectedly in the night. I didn't know him in person, just online since the early days, but he was a swell guy, and a super talented 3d artist, always willing to help people with their 3d work. He was also an iStock Admin and Inspector. He really had a passion for cars in his 3d work, and had such an attention to detail: I'm really saddened to hear of his passing. http://www.istockphoto.com/mevans
