What really annoys me as this further erodes the thought that photography is worth something, and it is not free. Most images cost something to produce. When was the last time you went into a shop and got a free t shirt?
I often see discounts in shops: 3 t-shirts for 10, 2+1 free, etc. If anything is cheap, it's t-shirts. Discounts are perfectly normal to entice buyers into getting a subscription.

Just quit iStock and SS then. It's simple, really.

Ultimately they cut their prices so much they couldnt afford to pay the commissions. Then decided the only way to go is cut those and continue to reduce end user price.
Its pretty much the identical thought process to iStock.
Ultimately it all comes down to them mispricing their product.
It seems to me there's no such thing as "mispricing" their product, their bean counters are way too savvy to make a rookie mistake. More likely it was a ploy to create market dominance with attractive stunt prices and then rake in the actual rewards by cutting our commissions.

The absolute definition of "paranoid" is: Trump. This dictator called the mobs of his party to come and storm the capitol, where five people lost their life. Therefore he is the killer of those killed while storming the capitol. I hope American Justice will do their duties and call this criminal mind before The Highest Court of America with charges of intentional murder. This insane paranoid must be brought to justice. He Must pay for his criminal acts. America Was a great country BEFORE his administration. He definitely managed to Make America Shorter... to the eyes of the World.-
As instigaters behind the civil disobedience in the streets, Burn, Loot and Murder BLM leaders should be charged as accessories to every crime their group commits.
The peaceful demonstration at the capitol turned bad when riot police caused the problem. This was a peaceful occupation until then. They murdered an innocent white woman, who was in our military service by shooting her. She wasn't armed, didn't throw rocks or bottles of burning fuel wasn't harming anybody or looting. She was just a protester. I'm upset that this forum supports racist murder and misogamy.
Equal rights for everyone.
She was part of an angry mob that broke into the Capitol, smashed windows, beat (and killed) police officers and who didn't follow police orders. She tried to illegally enter the Speakers Room hallway despite officers in that hallway having their weapons drawn. In other words, she was a brainwashed domestic terrorist who threatened democracy. She wasn't innocent. She wasn't "murdered" either, she simply got shot because she did something illegal and was a threat.

Thanks for the update. Also worth mentioning they have no contributor terms on the site. Link is broken. Has been like that since I first tried to read them some time ago.
May be worth trying to delete a couple of images, they seem to not care and will continue to sell them. You may want to verify for yourself. This is a nightmare from a site I thought I was done with.
Playing advocate of the devil, this was apparently going on years ago under the old management? Who is to say the new management is going to be just as shady? That said, the site seems dead to me. No sales, nothing. I've spent quite some time uploading and tagging my portfolio, but if RPD and sales are low, it seems to have been a major waste of time.

Poor on both Pond5 and Alamy.
Also, what's with all the topics with the same question for every agency? You're much better off posting 1 topic with a single question, keeps it cleaner on the forums.

How does the remove portfolio process work with these guys?
Guess not hitting shutterstock hard is going to keep costing us agency after agency
The problem is we can't hit SS hard with our lack of strength (in numbers), agencies will follow no matter what we do. Since SS's fall from grace I've come to accept the fact that there's no future in microstock anymore. At least not if it keeps eroding further and further.

Etsy sales are slow anyway, why give up such an important term, I doubt it really affects your sales?

I suggest you don't click the link because it seems fishy (or...phishy.) If you really have to do an ID check, it should be accessible via Envato Verify. You should double check with support to see if the link is legit.

Use StockSubmitter, makes it very easy and time-saving to upload to multiple agencies at once.
How do you prepare your vector files for Stock Submitter? Do you embed keywords in EPS or JPG preview? How do they adapt your files to the different demands of the sites? Some of them wants them zipped some needs JPG preview separately some wants artboard size huge... so I wonder how can you upload vectors to multiple sites at once through a submitter app?
I often use 1200x1200 pt artboard size (which export as 5000x5000 JPG preview at 300 dpi). Simply keep the .eps and /jpg of the same name in 1 directory and StockSubmitter treats it as one file combo. The software allows you to embed, save, update and arrange keywords and other metadata to the accompanying JPG. After adding the metadata, you can upload each file to all agencies and then hit the Submit button. Stocksubmitter also zips files upon submission if the agency requires it. They also have specific options for certain agencies (even iStocks CV). It may take a day to get used to all the settings but once you get the hang of it, it saves you a ton of time. I always export a 5000x5000 pixel JPG and that's suitable for all agencies. Shutterstock requires huge artboard size now but SS

Just to show, SS dont care about how big you are! If you violate Terms of service...youre in trouble.
I feel bad for Pat and BB (not getting into weather BB is the place to go to or not) The guy tries his best to run a clean operation.
Im also glad to see that SS takes things very professionally. 900K clips, gone, I think its temporary.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You call that professional? I call it laziness. Culling an entire port, punishing innocent BB contributors for some bad apples? It only shows (once again) that SS doesn't give a crap about people's livelihoods. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for fighting copyright infringement and BB should have been curating better, but at the same time SS continues to allow smaller thieves to upload blurred stolen photos and other obviously stolen content. SS is nothing more than an greedy corporation where contributors are nothing more than a statistic.

I guess we can agree on the fact that no matter from which side (left of right) or how fairly someone came into power, power almost always corrupts. We've had left-wing dictators, right-wing dictators, and anything inbetween. Neither side is inherently good or bad. However, anything that becomes extreme, is in a sense, bad for the people, whether it's on the left or right side of the spectrum.

If your net is $3k, I wonder what Shutterstock is charging the buyer...
My guess is the standard 30% for him, 70 for them. Or if they're generous (haha, couldn't write that with a straight face) it's 50-50.

I don't spend time figuring out the ranking of my images. In my opinion that's a waste of time because each agency uses different algorithms to determine search ranking, portfolio performance and don't get me started on Google ranking. In other words, you're putting way too much thought into it.
I wouldn't delete bad sellers to try to get ahead in terms of ranking, I doubt it makes much difference.

I received an email from Yay today:
Hello again!
A brief update about where we are at with our video contributor technology. We have recently launched video pricing tiers. This means you can price all of your videos or just one individual video at another price point. Existing high quality contributors are grandfathered into the "Premium" tier. New contributors will start at the "Regular" tier. After uploading 100 approved videos, you can apply for the "Premium" tier.
Here's how the new pricing works: "Budget" (HD - $5, no 4K) "Regular" (HD - $24.99, 4K - $59) "Premium" (HD - $59, 4K - $149)
Some videos, like a time-lapse or a less offered content drone shot or a video shot with a DSLR at 4K higher bitrate has different value than a GoPro video for example. To solve this problem, you can now reprice existing approved videos by clicking the checkbox next to the desired video, in the "Videos" navigation tab. Regular is priced way too low, in my opinion. So I've applied for Premium tier. hopefully this will be applied without any hassles. I've uploaded my entire vector and video portfolio last week, let's see if that brings me any sales.
How's that working out for you?
So far zero sales, only 2 cents for promotional use by YayImages.

I can confirm there are Etsy sellers reselling digital Canva creations because the Canva license indeed allows that.
In my opinion Canva shouldn't allow reselling, especially not if we get more and more subscription downloads. Some ignorant 'creative' Etsy shop owner spends 5 minutes to make a lazy mashup of original content to make a few passive bucks (while we get 5c per download) is just really aggravating.

I'm not sure but I felt the currency conversion fee was way more than it used to be. Somewhere around 2,5% below the average exchange rate, but now it seemed to be around 4% ...Did they increase their hidden fees? Paypal is such a greedy company.
It's time agencies start offering withdrawal methods other than Paypal because we're being robbed in broad daylight.

Thanks for the tip off.
Having just looked through a few pages of his blurred images I found one of mine stolen from an exclusive Getty Rights Managed, now RR, HD video.
A frame from an HD video made into a blurred still and Shutterstock accepted it. Just appalling.
Report him immediately, time to get this thief off of the platform asap.

If these vectorized photos contain recognizable property, landmarks, recognizable faces, then yes, you would need a model or property release.
