My photo was used in a math book and I earned like cents. It doesn't really matter (legally) if the book is a bestseller or not

For the first time in January Canva became my best earner in front of SS, and this despite having a couple of good footage sales on SS.
I don't understand why Canva is not even in the middle tier agencies.
Are you specialized in backgrounds?

Sometimes they just don't accept laptops that you "know" they are from Apple. Try erasing some keys but maybe it is going to be rejected again...?

All boils down to your subject matter

If you shoot generic or American style subjects you'll get US sales.

Shoot mostly European centred stuff you'll get mostly European sales etc...
I also saw the pictures and thought they had a very "Arabian architecture" style (??), maybe because of that

For me 4/10 were from the US but I usually get more from other countries. In istock I have sales mostly from the US.

General Stock Discussion / Re: How was January?
« on: February 01, 2019, 06:35 »
Decent month here:

SS: Avg as things picked up in last week
AS: Nice month
IS: Jan not calculated but dec was good

AL: Bad, many refunds
123RF: Not good, much down than previous month
DT: Avg

SS same. Very good. AS less than December. Istock good according to approx number of downloads. BS better than before too. The rest very bad. Canva and DP the worst.

The big problem I see there is the volatility of every cryptocurrency, there's a huge risk $1 commission to become 1 cent just in one night.
Or $10...

1) They call themselves a platform and not a stock agency, so contracts are directly between the buyers and photographers.

Not so.  Wemark License Agreement  http://cdn.wemark.com/agreements/Wemark_Standard_License.pdf

a) This Wemark License Agreement (License) is a binding contract between you or the employer or other entity on whose behalf you are entering into this agreement ("you" or "Customer") and Wemark Digital Ltd. Indeed. I think the "Impress" is more direct but the standard Go is like subs

A view weeks ago, i uploaded 10 images (as new contributer), still pending
Run from that agency.

You can read multiple threads in this forum related about  how they stopping reviewing

I've received an email about Wemark being live.

Just had a look and it seems that they will pay contributors in Wemark Tokens...
Does anyone understand how we can convert these to real money? :s
It depends on your country. But if someone here is expert in blockchain it would be cool to know. Or only places that accept ETH directly?

Thanks, I might give them a few photos as a test and try to understand how it works along the way.

Would be great indeed if someone could explain more about blockchain and changing these currencies into real money.

Bitcoin has been successful in the past, so maybe they will also be? who knows. Or maybe it's a scam and I'll never see these photos back  :-X
I don't think they are a scam. They are backed by some big companies in Europe and have a lot of money to make startups based in crypto.

315
They spent way to long with my images on hold. I think it was over a year. They are simple not transparent on their terms. Mostly just a gut feeling they are not here to stay. I deleted over 2000 images, maybe a mistake but made me fell warm and fuzzy to delete and get away.
Understandable. Let's see what happens next with them.

316
Closed my account with these folks. I do not trust this company.
Why?

317
0,27 cento to 0,95.....how much are commission...really people are so desperate to contribute with any bshit that opens its door?
ibeing a photographer is not a medical prescription...
Commission is 100% for that "Go" license. So it's like every other agency. If you apply for selling "Pro" licenses you can sell EL until 500 usd.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Exporting video for Istock from windows
« on: January 28, 2019, 18:39 »
I recently started with uploading video clips to agencies and only on istock they require mov format, i used to export my video clips h.264 format i know that they accept 422 apple pro res codec but since i am on windows i could only export it with quicktime to make a mov file, still no luck i couldn't upload it. Anyone has solution for this? How do you export videos for istock? Thanks
I use Videopad in Windows 10

Thanks everyone for  you have provided. We have been discussing ways to make the portal more intuitive and as easy as possible to navigate and to get the information you want.

A top feature for years has been for the aggregate total of earnings for individual assets. With the new feature added we have provided that information but understand that as a result it created an extra navigation burden to you.

I want to keep you in the loop on what we are working on right now. In the not-too-distant future, when you navigate to the insights page and select a drop down option you will not have to click the "display statistics" button. The new data will automatically populate when you select the option you want. The display statistics button will remain a click requirement when you change the date range.

In addition, the system will remember what you last viewed and will set that as your default each time you visit the insights page. If you are looking at the current activity when you close out the page, the activity stats will be the default the next time you visit.

I don't have an exact timeline for you but I can assure you this is a priority. I'll keep you updated as I learn more.

-Mat Hayward

Thanks Mat.... would it also be possible for the number of downloads to be displayed along with the Earnings for each file?

Also, keyword/s used to find the file would also be very useful..... thanks for the keeping us updated!
What about views? Even istock has them...

Microstock is not about making sense, it is about minimising time spent and maximising returns.

That's a good point. Have to change the mind to this, minimize the wasting of time.

Well, with copy and paste maybe it is not a great waste of time I guess. Gonna try a short date format (mm/dd/yy or dd/mmm/yy).

I don't like how the title shows, I mean, I like the description before the place and date for search engines and quick review for the buyer. That's the main reason why I didn't use the date in other agencies but SS and BS.

But, I use to see the date in all the editorial pictures, that's the reason for my question. When you spend hours and hours with this your mind is always searching for mistakes in all what you do. That's my problem really. Have to focus and improve the using of my time.

Thank you for all your answers.
I also upload all editorial or all commercial batches. If you mix a submission of some photos between one and another you are going to spend more time selecting which one is editorial or not and editing titles, etc

Oh yeah, another good idea, plus some sites, Editorial, commercial, illustrations, video, whatever else, all go to different review teams. Might as well make my batches all one type just for my tracking, instead of mixed.
Indeed. And also with without releases... I upload batches of ten with similar topics: nature, architecture, objects, etc.

I understand that the view is different if you are in this for years.

I don't have perspective yet.
I am 8 months old. I have a love-hate relationship with iStock.
