Curating is difficult. We are with an edited macro agency, and are often surprised at the files they turn down - proven sellers which did well on Getty. We get sales on Alamy from files turned down by others. We need to watch how things develop, and then make decisions on who to link with, most likely in closed networks, as Cardmaverick suggests. At the moment we don't know enough - is it better to link with people with similar portfolios, or those with very different work? Also there aren't enough people yet with sites up to give a lot of choice of who to link with. People really should self curate. We have about 5000-6000 images on various sites, but will only put about 2000 on Symbiostock. Some of them look like crap, but they have sold well. Then again, maybe we'll also add some real crap to thwart the copycats, and make posts about how well it's selling

Also, I am getting two thank you for purchasing emails.
One is for the purchaser, the other is a copy to the supplier. If they both have the same address...

I prefer the photographer. Much more sexy IMHO. Models like that make me cringe. Am I the only one?

Try for Stocksy ?
That's exactly what I thought. IMHO, those images will not sell enough times on the micros to give you a worthwhile income. May as well put them elsewhere and give them some time, I believe you will earn more that way.

That's great! I've added one to my site as well, but it show the images in the order they were uploaded (I think). Have you found any way to modify what is shown when you first open that page and see the FAA results? It would have been great to show the galleries in order rather than the actual images.
Steve
The images are shown in the customised order set on the Artwork tab on the main FAA site, so you can control the display from there. An option for Galleries would be good though.

Nice! I would like to use that copy for my site, too. I wish I could get a sidebar to appear on the home page. I'm wondering if my slider to too large and is disturbing the sidebar div? I might make that slide a little smaller and see what happens.
Which template are you using for your home page? The 'Home Page' template doesn't have a sidebar, but 'Home Page - Sidebar' does. Alternatively 'Default Template' has a sidebar and also shows the page title. With a sidebar I find 770px is the right width for a slideshow. ETA: I've ripped off your design for the slideshow images...

It might have been the one I posted at http://photo.travelling-light.net/hints-on-symbiostock-site-customising/
You just tick the box(es) in Image Categries, click Add to Menu, then drag the tabs to where you want them. If you drag them to that slightly offset position, you get the drop-down list.
If you can't see the Image Categories list, click Screen Options at the top and tick the box.
Yep, the one you posted. I am RF Images>Image Categories. I have ticked the ones I want in the submenu now. I dont see where to click Add to Menu.
Not the Image Categories under RF Images, the list on the left side of the Menu setup screen.

I tried using Meta Slider, but was unable to add images from the media library. Did you add them from the media library or upload them?
I uploaded them through the Media Library, calling it from the Meta Slider settings page. I see that I can't just add existing images, even though they were used in the slideshow earlier. Very odd! ETA: Went to the plugin site for a quick RTFM, and it doesn't actually say you can just pick images from the library, it tells you to upload them.

I have created my main menu www.cathyslifeStockPhotos.com. First is HOME then IMAGE CATEGORIES (this links just fine to my Image Categories when you click on it). I know how to drag pages under the Image Categories heading so I get the drop down menu. But I saw a screenshot that I believe cascoly posted on his site, and his sub-categories under his main Image Categories (indented ones) are not pages...they have the words Image Categories on the right hand side. Can someone explain how to get those in there? Thanks.

Just did a purchase through the sandbox, worked perfectly. The only funny was that a Large purchase overrode the download link for a previous purchase of the same file in Medium.

Im confused tho as to why we have Login / register at the top, which makes sense, but then its duplicated in your main menu.
Thanks for reminding me to take them out of the main menu!
So it is ok to take the second one out. Wonder why there is two to begin with?
The default main menu only has Home in it. I added the cart and login before I made a custom top menu and didn't get round to taking them out again. If you set the menu widget selectors to blank you get the defaults.

Okay, now I'm tripping. Do you see a link in the post above. If you click it does it take you to an Image works site and not just a 404 since I haven't created it yet. (Just tried on the Mac too!) How the heck did that happen?
Edit - okay - whois says they own the "stockphotos.com" domain. Makes sense... !
The important thing in Internet naming is that URLs run in increasing order of importance, so - stockphoto (subdomain) . mysite (domain) . com (Top Level Domain) Subdomains are effectively independent of domains except for the addressing, and can have totally different purposes and identities. Our main domain is travelling-light.net, but currently has subdomains of images (points to Photoshelter), photo (Symbiostock test site), blog (WP blog to match images), store (Zazzle storefront) and a family photo album. Any multisite hosting package will let you set these up.

Thank you for your tips, Pixart. I will try that favicon plugin you suggested.
The menu issue, however, isn't solved. Here is what I have under "appearance > menus" and what shows on my site. The three items configured are showing behind the two that are miraculously displayed without (knowingly) ever being configured.
The cart and login/logout are hard-coded into the menu widget, so you don't need to add them, and Leo's suggestion was that it would be a good place to put About Me and Contact. That's the way we have set it up. http://photo.travelling-light.net

Ah. I went to your hints page and got an error. That explains why.
OK, back in business! Everything should be OK now.

Here's a start:

I'll add a bit more later.
And all the config goes into the database, so it's not really possible to share things, we can just show the methods.
that link is broken now -- can you repost?
It'll be back later, there's a DNS change propagating - it hasn't reached me, so I can't see if the site is broken yet.

I wonder if the issue is that you really don't have a home page to speak of. Can you add a bunch of text to that home page to see if that makes a difference.
Steve
I did it, but tag cloud still not show. I'm almost giving up. I'm trying put it on for at least two days.
It may or may not be relevant, but I've posted a correction at http://photo.travelling-light.net/hints-on-symbiostock-site-customising/ about using the Default Template rather than Home Page if you want a sidebar for widgets. Just had a quick look at your site, Chico, and I see you've got the tag cloud up on your Contact page, so that's working. It's all a wonderful learning experience...

Well, i did some progress. Right now i'm testing new user register and i think we (or me) have a problem:
I try to register a user named "joao"
Put your name and mail.
Receive a mail with password
Back to login page and put name and password
I expect to be placed in main page of my site, but i receive screem below.
It's my fault? Some user preference configuration?
That's normal when you register on a Wordpress site. It was a surprise to me when I first registered on a WP based shopping site! You can only adjust your own profile, then go back to the site by the link at top left.

Please, put some tips about your setup. It's exactly like i want my site, but i'm facing some issues (brain issues ). Thanks and congrats.
By the way, there are some way to share config files to to make it easier for other members?

Our Symbiostock site is http://photo.travelling-light.net for network testing. We'll switch to the images subdomain when we're ready to go live.
Nice clean looking site!
Thanks, but it's Leo deserves the credit for the look. We've just added a few touches to it.
