Very slow this week and yet my ranking is slightly better than last week - which suggests everyone else is likely having a relative slow(er) week. RPD is also way down this week.

Not Shutterstock, but Pond5 this morning. This sale was a single download. Really great if we see Pond5 pick up again.

I watch his videos quite regularly and while he does spruik his course as a means for purchasing customers to make money in microstock, he does actually tell about the more adverse developments in the industry - which is quite the antithesis of what many "make-$10k-a-month-with-no-effort" Youtubers are putting up. I think he's being quite honest with his claims.
The thing that does bother me about it though is that this industry is really difficult for any beginner in microstock to make a decent income without an existing large collection of photos or videos ready to upload or a specialized in-demand niche of professional photography - typically produced from an experienced photographer / videographer that is already earning well from their profession.
Selling a course to beginners / novices in microstock is really selling false hopes in my opinion. I get some might say well it's possible if you work hard enough and upload quality content in demand and so on.... yes but if you're savvy enough to learn this and develop your craft along the way, you'll reach a level of success without the need to buy a course.

I had my best February ever overall which would be expected when you've uploaded some 1200 additional videos over the year. But it's mixed results as below. February 2023 vs February 2024 EarningsThese percentages proudly brought to you by Calculator Soup https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/algebra/percent-change-calculator.php- Shutterstock = 37.7072% decrease
- Pond5 = 41.5312% decrease
- iStock = 9.16212% increase
- Adobe Stock = 321.93% increase
- Combined Agencies = 10.2993% increase
Clearly Adobe Stock is excelling while others waver or decline. Was only a year ago when I was struggling to get Adobe to perform well against other agencies and now it has come so far. Overall achieved my satisfactory monthly earnings in February 2024 - the first since November 2023. Hoping to see Shutterstock and Pond5 pick up again.

Progressed from weekly position of 11,000 to 10,700 with 14 further sales. Not great but RPD is better and above average. I knew early on when I started MS in 2019 I was not going to be able to achieve high volume like the above contributors, so pivoted focus to video - my recommendation for any beginner in stock with no or little collection of photos or specialized niche in demand as there more earning potential with overall fewer files.

My weekly ranking is typically between high 9000s to high 12000s. At current it is right on 11000. I've 826 photos, 212 illustrations and 2054 videos.
I still get a good number of photo downloads considering the small port size and I don't have any AI contents.

Sales picked up the past couple of days as the end of the month arrives with better prices.
Also good to see shutterstock has dropped that ridiculous 'new' contributor dashboard.

I'll be closing the account down once I make my only one and final payment request from Dreamstime. I've made the payout but letting it there while it continues to increase barely at a couple of dollars a month then when I finally take payment, then it goodbye to dreamstime.

If this is the new normal for Shutterstock (and I really hope it isn't) then this imho is a collapse of the agency in terms of its revenues from image and video sales. I'm astounded at the depth and velocity of its fall but maybe I shouldn't be so surprised. It's predictable. - First, you slash contributor earnings for a quick profit boost
- You fully decentivize your main contributor base
- Your bulk of quality contributors stop uploading - and instead upload their fresh quality content to other agencies (your competition) that treat their contributors with more respect
- A large segment of your customer buyers and subscribers just naturally follow the better, fresh, quality content where contributors are uploading
- Your sales, revenues and profits drop.
If this trend continues then I suspect the next quarterly report will show the depth of the damage done from this fallout with contributor and customer alike. Shutterstock actually has itself in a bind now. Won't be able to take another razor to contributor earnings again as this will just make the problem much more worse than it already is. Instead will need to find new markets and customers and might like to consider restoring some incentives to contributors given the lack of volume and quality of new uploads.

SS used to be my best earner, now it's second last. Freefall coincided with start of new payment scheme couple of yrs ago. Oddly enough for Feb '24 SS is looking to be #1 (ahead even of Adobe).
I don't think SS is dead, or will be anytime soon, but certainly appears far from where it once was.
Do you sell video? And if so are you still seeing any high(er) priced video sales? ^This is where I'm seeing the biggest earnings collapse.

Sales and in particular earnings per download have gone down the past three months, but like thx9000 said, February has been a disaster with almost nothing but 10 cent commissions for images and $1.00 for videos.
I think Shutterstock's toxic management has likely seen a number of higher quality contributors stop uploading and / or upload elsewhere to places like Adobe, and consequently higher paying customers have naturally moved to where the fresh better content is available. My Adobe Stock port has seen a significant increase in downloads and revenue, as has many others.

Not a great month but better than last month and a 9% increase on January 2023, but that's with a comparatively lot more content uploads over the past year. RPD for combined photos and videos was 1.998989898989....

Those are really scary stats to read.
The downfall of Shutterstock is also the downfall of pond5, we are losing two marketplaces at once.
Interesting you say this because I'm on both and Pond5 is even worse than Shutterstock now. Pond5 has gone from bad to worse since Shutterstock took over. I've noticed the views have suddenly dropped off with Pond5 from over hundreds a day to less than 10 and wondering if they have decided to pull back on their advertising - which looks like was a costly disaster with burning through advertising funds. As for Shutterstock in January 2024 compared to January 2023, a 40% increase in downloads in January 2024 but a 23% decrease in earnings. And this is with well over 1000 videos added to the port over the 2023 calendar year. And again, without changing anything Adobe is increasing strongly.
Compare the above stats with Adobe Stock January 2024 compared to January 2023, a 96% increase in downloads and a 165% increase in earnings. Clearly Adobe is rewarding our work, at least by comparison to the other agencies. And I don't even have any AI content.

Feel like the only 'best' agency still standing now is Adobe Stock.

Where is the representative from shutterstock here on the forum? Maybe we should invite them. Let them tell you why video sales and video income began to decrease.
How is the video sales on Shutterstock these days compared to pre-video sub 2019?
Terrible. I'm usually quite upbeat about Shutterstock video sales because while there are bottom basement commissions it is usually balanced with much higher commissions. Not this year though with most sales under $10 and many for just a pitiful $1. Was reading on Facebook how a couple of contributors use to make $2k a month on Shutterstock and one mentioned he could only afford a Big Mac meal with his earnings so far this month. I'm just hoping the bigger sales return after holiday season is over.

Yes, and others just over $1.00 and $1.40 as you mentioned. Adobe Stock has started 2024 really great for me and way in the lead. So far I feel like Adobe is the ONLY site that is rewarding the work I put into microstock.

I have some friends making some big money on a company called Freepix. I submitted to them but failed their test. The take only the best of the best.
I heard some are making truck loads of cash on Picfair too. Can anyone confirm this? I hear the selection process is tough tho.

There used to be someone on here years ago who was looking to buy people's portfolios outright. He bought at least 2 or 3 peoples portfolios if I remember correctly. He would turn up once or twice a year and ask if anyone was interested. He had all the paperwork and legal stuff already organized and I think he had a way of contacting the agencies to move them all over to 1 port. The last time I saw him in here was at least 5 or 6 years ago. You'd have to do some digging to find the threads. It is possible but the purchaser needs to do the legal work by the sounds of it?
Is this who you refer to? https://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-video/looking-to-buy-existing-video-portfolios/msg560653/#msg560653

Speaking of Shutterstock, I'm having the worst month of the year and potentially the worst since April 2022. Without those bigger sales, Shutterstock is like an old broken down Ford Cortina.
Same with my SS sales this month. Really dropped off a cliff. For the most part, all my main agencies are down, too, but I guess that's expected at the end of the year. But as you can see in my sales chart, it's puzzling how SS has dropped so far so quickly to the point that other agencies are outselling them, which rarely happened before.

I'm surprised to see Storyblocks outperforming other agencies. Impressive.
Link below to Microstock Life on Youtube, he reports on video sales for the month of July 2023. Storyblocks is his top earner in this month's update with $1511.60 from video sales on the agency (cue 3 min 53 sec). Does well on Adobe Stock too (cue 2 min 12 sec). Has an interesting perspective on Pond5 at the 38 second mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1OwnVlltFA

You can sell the copyright to your images to someone else.
Thank you for quick reply. I am now trying to find a place where I offer my portfolio. Please suggest some
Maybe contact Flippa and request if they can value your portfolio and list it for sale. I'm not sure about this but just for consideration, as you are essentially selling the copyright of your images, you can't continue to sell them on other marketplaces.

I don't really know but I query if in the process of doing this it converts to an unsupported codec?

A new low for Adobe with two videos selling for a commission of $2.66 each. Never had lower than $2.80 before.
