Their certificate is out of date to access the forum you have to click on the "advanced" button and select "accept risk proceed to site anyway."

Their probably too busy counting their cash to fix simple problems like this  ;D

For years and years Alamy has been a sort of private club with a few vip members in this case getting 80% of all royalties on tons and tons of old editorial content!  thats Alamy for you guys!

Nah not really I regularly make several sales every month and have for the last few years.

I'm certainly not in the VIP club but those contributors who do make big money analyse their market well and have really big portfolios.

Envato / Re: Envato reaches US$1 billion in community earnings

Who really cares  ::)

I have many friends who earn a very good living from envato.. So it really cares.

Good for them though I see you didn't mention yourself in that grouping.

Let us not forget how Envato shafted contributors over the "contributor bonus" in 2019 after encouraging everyone to sign up to elements with a profit share and once they got their hand on the images, the same bonus is now next to impossible to achieve because good old envato changed the rules to suit them and their pet producers

General Stock Discussion / Re: Stolen content available for sale

You can split hairs all you want. This was posted by the same racist: (there, I put it in quotes so all you hair-splitters would be happy): Add Pakistan and India to the restricted list for new users before they can collect earnings.

Nothing to do with splitting hairs, but throwing "racist" in to a conversation is a way of just shutting down discussion on valid points.

Looking at a lot of image thieves accounts they do often come from Eastern Europe as well as the Indian subcontinent.  It would be nonsensical to ignore facts.

Restrict new users from Ukraine.

Racist. 🙄

Only in Cathy's World is a country a race. Where did you go to grade school? Add Pakistan and India to the restricted list for new users before they can collect earnings.

Nope. Looks like at least 3 other peoples world consider your remark racist. 😉😃 But if you think racist is the wrong word, (its not, it can be used where there is ethnic discrimination, too), there are many more I could call you that would apply equally as well.

Its racist to insult someone or a group of people using their race or skin color as a premise for the insult.

However merely stating that image thieves tend to be found in certain countries is not racist if it is demonstrably true.

There has been speculation for years that Shutterstock is involved in money laundering.

Someone should tell the FBI  ;D

Thief makes screenshots from stock videos, blurs them and sells on Shutterstock

Check if yours are also there.

I take it that you reported this dog?

Seems I've been going about this stock photo business all wrong

I should invest in stealing other peoples images and blurring them and there was me thinking everything had to be my own work and in focus without noise  ;D

General Stock Discussion / Re: Stolen content available for sale
« on: October 12, 2020, 02:40 »
Hello all,

Ive found user on Shutterstock, Adobestock and Deposithphotos who has hundreds of video files stolen from my portfolio and propably others authors also. ---> https://www.shutterstock.com/g/tudosavalentina83/video

Im assuming that he/she selling those content over a year already. I dont know how much money he has earnt on those files but could be nice sum.
Of course already Ive written to supports and waiting for some action.

Any of you guys had similar problem? Is there any other possibility/instance I can use/write to?
Of course they should remove this user ASAP but what about the money Ive lost? Any chances to get back something?

I cant believe how is this possible to upload and sell hundreds of video clips stolen from other authors for a such long time   >:(

This is happening constantly, the agencies are quite happy to reject similars submitted by genuine contributors but seem quite incapable of detecting thieves.

As for your money?  Forget it the agencies keep it for themselves

General Stock Discussion / Re: How do you keyword?
« on: October 08, 2020, 02:52 »
You'll not earn enough from an image these days to pay for the keywording.

I always add them in Photoshop when I'm processing though Adobe Bridge is a good tool for adding keywords and descriptions in bulk (for similar themed photos).

As for the words just do your own research and keep commonly used keywords in a word document so they can be copied and pasted.

General - Top Sites / Re: Can you withdraw images after they sell?
« on: September 09, 2020, 03:16 »
As far as I know, you can delete the image, but you will not be able to forbid the buyer to use your photo, because he has already bought it.

The buyer buys a license to use the image

Anything is better than what's going on.

Seeing microstock prices but midstock volumes for the past 4 months.

I'm sure there will be some very "exciting news" before too long  :(

Firstly Paypal don't charge you a fee its paid for by the agencies so unless you signed up for a Paypal business account theres nothing to account for.

Its not sneaky as you put it Paypal have a business to run and like any bank, or bureau de change you have a an exchange rate that is poorer than base rate so they can recoup costs.

Secondly just account for earnings when they actually arrive in Paypal.

Treat it as a cash receipt.  It has to be done this way as you don't issue invoices to the stock agencies.  Also if you try to account for the sale prior to payment you have the complication of dealing with image sales being credited.

Never had any problems with the tax office doing it this way in over 8 years.

Your method sound like someone who is over thinking things.

The HMRC/Tax office were incorrect in their advice.

Adobe Stock / Re: No sales in August
« on: August 25, 2020, 07:10 »
60 sales with Adobe so far.

However August has been very slow you should also bear in mind that a lot of Europe usually has August as a vacation especially Germany

403 Forbidden is all I get its been like that all day

First its Fortnite

Second Fortnite publishers: Epic Games, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment so they are corps not individuals, and Epic deliberately baited Apple/Google by offering direct payments to end users to get round app distribution fees.

Epic could do that because Fortnite is hugely popular and the have a lot of end user muscle.

As opposed to stock submitters who are effectively nobody to the likes of SS

Third how are this we you refer too? A bunch of disparate unconnected "artists" who never came together when this sh*t with SS started? and most of them folded and just took the cut

So no I'm sorry it's not similar

That video of Pavlovsky standing at his pool table in his multi-million-dollar house like a stiff cardboard cutout, reading stilted jargon-filled gobbledygook into the camera with a bad microphone with lots of echo, then awkwardly hitting his cue ball with that self-satisfied let-them-eat-cake smirk, tho...

That's because the man is as talentless as his management style
