it's not our concern, cos we know better , but the average person may not understand they can't sell commercial images of other people with a MR, and it's not explained very well on the site. modify: oh, really? i'll have to read a bit more closely then. modify: ah, when you click to purchase the info is there. big, bold text in yellow highlights no less. (google could learn something from these guys)

why doesn't Instagram just add a 'buy this' option?

v interesting interview - he does bag out iS and SS as being "boring", can't say I agree with that. i wonder how much junk his site will be flooded with, plus the inappropriate keywording that inevitably happens, rendering the search useless.

if you install the greasemonkey script (someone will kindly provide a link) it's far easier as you get a window that hovers (down the bottom) and shows your last sales (not PP though). but if there's a change in income the $amount turns yellow and there's a hover box over that too. v helpful.

actually I think for your girlfriend this is acceptable, for my kids it's a PITA. I have a year long MR for my kids for each year that all the other agencies accept. their rules I guess.

It's very confronting, isn't it, to be told what we all dread... I had lunch with a journo friend today who moaned about bloggers ruining her industry, and how she refuses to turn up to cover events that bloggers have been invited to. "they take rubbish photos and have poor writing skills, and they get their stories up almost instantly" was the gist of it. I couldn't help but think: yeah, so you have to outdo them or find something else to do. I realised that she might well say the same to me if I whinged about microstock.
Things are changing and we need to find a way to make it work. Yuri is doing that for himself. Congrats.

OMG!
Some people here have really no idea what they are doing.
welcome to the wonderful world of professionalism in microstock. OMG is an understatemnet.
and yet some people are incredibly gifted artistically, and this geeky side is not their strength. lighten up.

interesting to see people publicly doubting the honesty of the numbers in the iS forum.

i've had duplications when submitting directly at 123, which I notified them of (they "rejected" the duplicates :/) they are aware there is a problem.

I like the idea of deleting good files that sell well elsewhere, but, *sigh* more work for no return!

so june is all done, except for the 1-10 bit, that was fast! (presuming they get 1-10 done without the same glitch as May has)

I've sold few studio images and more of my dog. but I can't get a feeling for what they're about and i think I'm just not the style they're after.

there are some specific icons on mac keyboards, and even the socket/pin/plug is best to remove.

you'd think for being so super picky that their site would be well curated and a delight to look at.

75 megapixels?
http://petapixel.com/2013/07/22/canon-may-drop-nuke-in-megapixel-war-with-a-75-megapixel-pro-dslr/
I remember at college we had to do a pano and we left it to stitch over the lunchbreak. the guy with the Sony (is it 25MP?) was still waiting for his to finish when we got back.... I think of him every time i put in the CF card from the D800 and go off and make a coffee while the pics load into Bridge. And the way some canon people shoot (like 12 frames to get one shot) they'd be doubling their time in post with 75MB.

I just checked, for May I had 22 PP downloads for 11.48 dollar. Thats 52 cent per download. I dont know how the PP works, but that is tempting Luis.
you don't know how it works? I know very well each agency I work with, anyway subs sell at TS for 28 cents each
I get more than 40c for a sub. There are lots of different rates for different types of sales. http://www.istockphoto.com/help/sell-stock/rate-schedule
I thought exclusives weren't included in PP anymore?

can you blame them? if some clients only use files for the web... then we should all be shooting at 800ISO and taking a chillpill. but instead we're all working for the one client who wants a billboard....

yup, don't' live your life in fear of that 3% of ppl. live your life to fulfill those who love and appreciate what you do.
i'm not sure there's much financial difference between the 2 attitudes, but there's no cancer-related illnesses in the latter. That's really my goal in life: to be healthy, happy and proud of what I do. Let the lawyers get cancer, let the doctors profit. It's the new "circle of life". I want to get as far from that as possible.
