I sent an email to [email protected]
Tell them you have been trying through support tickets and it might speed things up.

You can use other phones but not a DSLR.  Still have to upload using an apple product and I'm allergic to them, so I gave up.  The other thing that put me off was when they started putting the photos on Shutterstock, I might as well upload to them direct and get the full payment.  I wasn't impressed by the sales people were talking about in the Alamy forum.  If they ever bring out an android app, I will probably submit again but they need an opt out for Shutterstock and any other sites I would rather supply direct.

They used to be very consistent every month but now I get good months and really bad months.  January 2106 was grim and this January is just as bad.  Hopefully they will still have good months.  Luckily for me, they are no longer my best selling site and I am nowhere near as reliant on my income from them as I was last this time last year.

They finally closed my account today after I gave notice on 23rd November.  They take 90 days to remove images from partner sites.

I do occasionally add grain but not in camera raw.  I find it sometimes makes a photo look sharper and more detailed.  I lower the effect on the sky and the darkest areas, so it isn't noticeable.

I took a screen shot of my support ticket so I have a record of it. I see no reason why they shouldn't pay me 100% of any licensing fees my work makes if they still have it on their site more than 30 days after a written request to close my account, since they no longer have my permission to license the work except in the rare cases outlined in their TOS.
I took a screen shot too, they should pay 100% if images are selling after 30 days but this is Getty, so I don't think that's going to happen.  Sean Locke found the best way to leave quickly, I should of tried that :)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Is this legal?
« on: January 09, 2017, 05:27 »
No, unless you have an agreement to transfer the copyright and you would have to pay a lot for that, if you can find someone prepared to do it.

I don't understand why i can't re use an image i bought commercially! Which law says this?
You don't buy the image, you buy a license to use the image in limited ways.  To use another persons image to sell on stock sites, you have to buy it outright and get a copyright transfer.

They still haven't closed my account.  Looks like they are counting the time from when I emailed them, not when I sent a support ticket five weeks earlier.  So anyone wanting to leave is probably better off emailing than sending a support ticket.  At least with an email you have a record of it, the support ticket vanished.

RTFM  :)

What we really need is a "Shopify" like platform for mikrostockers, and it needs to be from serious, dedicated and committed intrapreneurs. The rest is bla bla bla...

I'd like a nice shop store. I see self hosted rated at 12.4 which make that the 6th best place to sell in the poll? $25 to $50 a month isn't that bad, is it?
I don't see self hosted in the poll at all this month.  I think the average microstocker wouldn't be able to make anywhere near that much without spending a lot of time and money.

Hover over the word Self-hosted you see 10 votes 12.2 that's better then everything below it as the names are in order of earnings for all with less then 50 votes. That's a long list of places that make less then self hosted, isn't it?

Now do you see it? 12 would be average of $50 a month for the 10 people who voted. When more people were urged to answer it went higher. Keep in mind the percentage rate for self hosted is around 100%  ;D
I'm sure that some of the big contributors with their own sites do well but they will skew the results, especially with so few people.  The 100% is wrong because you need to spend money to have a site.  So you need to take your expenses away from the amount you make.  I was making a minus percentage, every time I sold something, I effectively paid to do it.  I wonder how much those people that did the poll are spending?  I also found I was spending more time on my site than I was on any of the others I use and that was as bad as losing money.

The sites can always put the record straight here if they think people are being mislead.  I really don't see how it would benefit them to take legal action against a microstock forum or their own contributors.  I also don't think they would have much of a case, as people are expressing their opinions and the internet is full of them.  That's just my opinion :)

probably lisafx, part of a regular experienced gang here, gostwyck, dj, baldrick, lots of experience left the forum at some point, theyre all greatly missed, although i see baldrick still posting every now and then
Looks like gostwyck was lurking here today.  I was having a year off this forum when several regulars left or stopped posting.  Some of them may well still be here under different names.  I cracked after a year and came back.

This thread was so dull I wasn't going to look in it again but now its much more interesting :)

I left Istock years ago when they got to be very unreliable but kept a few images so I could see where they were going. It looks like that is nowhere. I now want to delete the rest I have. But I don't see how to do this anymore. Anyone can help?
I made a few dollars a month (apposed to the hundreds I did in the golden years) It seems they now even took the few dollars I had. I hope they really let you delete them instead of just deactivate them so they can still do what they want with them..
I sent a support ticket asking for my account to be deleted over 5 weeks ago but they deleted that without doing it.  I sent an email a few days ago but only got an automated response.  Hope they do it soon, I really wanted to have nothing to do with them in 2017.
Remember to post this on their forum quoting their ASA 11.a and pointing out they are acting contrary to your agreement with them.
I just got an email asking if my payment details were correct before closing my account, so hopefully it wont be much longer now.

I like taking street photos.  I have no problem taking photos of strangers in public places, there are some people that don't like it but that's their issue, I don't like people spitting and dropping chewing gum on the street but they still do it and that's far worse than taking a photo.

I would say non constructive criticism after an over reaction to a legitimate criticism.  Good luck to Leo and I hope one day we can all get the selling platform we want.

If you have the budget and time to learn the work flow, a camera that can do raw footage would help, like this one https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/964119-REG/blackmagic_design_blackmagic_production_camera_4k.html

Typical istock.  They wont get rid of my images after I gave them a months notice to quit.  Perhaps everyone not wanting any images purged should do that :)

Adobe Stock / Re: Account BLOCKED - Fotolia top contributor
« on: January 02, 2017, 13:59 »
Why do they accept so many similars in the first place and why can't they remove them for you without blocking your account?  Most of the big sites don't seem to think how stressful something like this can be to a contributor.

373
I hesitate to use the S word, but isn't that what the Symzio website does - it pulls together all the contributions of artists using the new Symbiostock plugin into one site with its own branding, and its own ability to purchase direct from that site. As far as a buyer is concerned, there is one site with a large number of images that can be purchased directly from the site. It handles photos, illustrations and videos.

http://www.symzio.com/

Steve
I see some problems with that, every contributor still has the expenses of hosting their own site, that money could be better spent.  Then there's the time they all have to spend keeping all those sites going.  Also, if it's a success, the symzio.com owner could decide to sell it or get greedy like lots of the microstock sites have.  We need something that is controlled by contributors and perhaps designers as well, so it can't be closed down or sold to people that are only interested in making more money from it.

374
I still have my legacy Symbiostock site
Its up and functioning, havent paid much attention to it for quite sometime, and th results reflect that as well.

I would be interested in still having an independant site, but with everyones images being available from a centralized location - much like how most agencies work today.
Most contributers do not have an extensive enough collection that would garner the interest of buyers, and for buyers to skip from individual site to individual site would be a non starter if I were a buyer.
I would be willing to share proceeds of sales made for maintenance and advertising of this kind of site
That's what I want too but I think it would be better with just one site with one domain and dedicated hosting.  It worked to a certain extent with the Warmpicture site that Dan Padavona set up a few years ago.  I sold more there than with my symbiostock site.  I think the problem was that it was too much work for one person and for it to succeed, a large group of us would have to employ a few people.  I would be willing to invest in a co-op style site but there's never been any serious discussion about it and we really need an entrepreneur with the right business skills to see the opportunity.  Until then, I'm happy with the sites that pay 50%.

Drop IStock, you will have a lot less things to worry about.
For me IStock is the second biggest earner after SS consistently since I started with microstock. FT and 123RF got closer lately but still not there yet.

Easy to say such things when IStock is down the list...
If you keep supplying istock, its likely that most of the sites will end up paying us 15% or less and almost nothing for subs.  I removed all my best images when they were my second highest earner.  The other sites soon make up for the loss in earnings if you put in a bit of work and it feels great not to supply a site that will ruin microstock.  Now my only problem is that they ignored my request to close my account over a month ago and I haven't received a reply to the email I sent a few days ago demanding that they remove all my images.  Will be great when I am finally rid of them.
