Linda

you have on your blog:

"We are working on an opt-out option, . . . . "

Does that mean we are all opt-in without using this future option?

I hope so, keep up the good work.

New Sites - General / Re: Earnings on Zoonar
« on: March 08, 2011, 08:54 »
That was a special deal they made (and obviously Deutsche Telekom was the buyer). You should have gotten an e-mail in advance indicating what picture they intend to buy and for what usage, and you had to agree.
That's how it worked for me. It's been a while ago that they asked, and now the deal seems to have settled.
could be, don't remember.

I wonder if anyone is having sales at Zoonar. I had some Polylooks sales in the past, and I've got one Telecom sale, but I am not getting anything else than that. 0 sales of Zoonar itself, or any other partner.

Exact same experience here.

It's not just you.  And given how well accepted images sell there, it's not worth worrying about.  I upload there as part of my mass upload, and figure whatever they accept has a (small) chance of earning something.  Gave up being bothered about their reviews a long time ago.

Totally gave up on this agency, for me at least its not worth it.

Photoshop Discussion / Re: color cast questions
« on: February 23, 2011, 10:49 »
Try this Photoshop Technique on that image and see if you like it.  Its a technique for removing color cast which, I believe, I first saw on this forum but I really can't remember. Anyway:

Duplicate background layer.
Apply Average Blur to that Duplicate layer
Open levels or curves and use mid-tone eye dropper to that layer.
Remove or make invisible the Duplicated Layer.

Try it, sometimes it brings interesting results.

Sorry, poor isolation.  Please correct and resubmit.  :)

I love Zazzle!

I'm $10 away from becoming a PRO seller and I've only just joined in August last year.  If anyone wants to follow what I'm up to on facebook and other things, you can see my page at:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sunny-Mars-Designs/150453311638512

I usually post some of my sales and my latest products and share thoughts with other designers about zazzle issues.

If you have a fan page as well, I'd be happy to follow it as I do a lot of promoting as well as selling my own products.

Cheers!

Great news on your success at Zazzle, I have become a Fan ;)

Set mine at 20% with the idea to increase that if sales do start to come in at any constant rate.  I have only been at it for 3 weeks (700 products) so am not sure if that strategy is correct . . . . .  time will tell.  Have had 2 TBA over the last two weeks but no sales yet.

359
Mine are there, and they seem to come from different sources...

I think you are right about different sources. They have 533 of my images with only a "copyright" watermark.  I don't have 533 images on Veer, so who knows from where they come . . . .

It does a little time for them to show up.  If you created shoes or stamps then it takes longer since those products have a special submission process.  give it time then work on your store . . .  you need a nice banner, organize categories, etc, etc.

Until you organize specific categories all your new products will end up by default in the "New Products" folder

You will get an email when the products have been added to your store.

Even though you have no products showing yet, I have become your first "Fan"   :)

If you go to the Forum you will find all the answers to your questions.  And good luck with your store!

Top Right go to "My Account" and when there click on "Store" to organize content and appearance

This might be of help:

If you go to your "My Account" page, and go to your products, there on the bar you will see a "sort by stats" link.

You can see stats on which products are being looked at by day, week, month or all time.  Fun to play with? YES!! But it's like counting views. Doesn't mean much of anything. Sometimes store owners will open your product so they know how to keyword or categorize their products.

As for the one click quick create, I don't use it. I prefer to make my products one at a time.  There is nothing more annoying than looking at the new products page and seeing 463 tee shirts, different styles and colors, with the same isolated apple design on them. If you're going to make a product, you should be more interested in making a product that is going to sell, rather than just anything to fill your store, IMO.

TBAs are fun to get, but aside from a tiny little award on the page, they don't really mean much in the end :) But, again, they ARE fun to get. The quickest way to know is to check your comments, people are usually quick to congratulate the winners of the latest awards! The kudos sure feel nice, too :)

I always try to upload the largest image I have, because then you have the most options design-wise.

They are fun to get.  I got one for a Water Color Tie on Jan 18 . . . . . . . brought a lot of "Fans" but it didn't bring a lot of sales.   :o

Competition is getting stronger every day!    :D

It sure is.  There are only 37,769,366,834 products!  Crowd sourcing is indeed a marvel of the modern economy. ;D

In order to get the "Product Types" on your store you have insert code into the interface under Advanced / Beta tab which essentially turns the feature on ...

Here is the link that I found most helpful in setting this up:

I just started my store and found that to my Categories and Product type showing was a bit of a problem at first . . . . . . . . .  but easily solved.

After a week of working on the store I see now that like everything in the ether world, it does take a lot of work.
Progress is seen here:

I will bet you a dollar that they won't be happening tomorrow.  I would say the 17th at the earliest.

I'm sure they'll probably get around to it on or about the 17th, but it wouldn't surprise me the slightest little bit if they went back and adjusted everyone's royalties to reflect it having started on the 1st.

Boy, they sure are organized over there at IS, got my first .18 sale this morning . . . . . . . . . . .

General Photography Discussion / Re: Save as Tiff or PSP?

Right, after doing your RAW corrections open in 16bit RBG Color space as a PSD in Photoshop (up until now everything is of the highest quality with no compression).  Work the image with adjustment layers, save layered work as a PSD or Tiff (quality is the same).  Flatten, shapen, change to sRGB (Edit - Convert to Profile), save copy as jpeg (quality12) for agencies.

The way I do it (for what it is worth) is that I keep three versions of each file:
RAW - PSD layered - Jpeg (for agencies)
I used to do it the same way but I just found that saving uncompressed (layered) tif works several times faster than saving a PSD file - important when you need to edit multiple files in a row.

You are right, every week I tell myself I should create a little Photoshop Action and convert my portfolio to Tiff but layered Tiffs are larger in size . . . .  maybe buy a larger backup storage first.

No I'm not.  ;)

Thinking about living the good life in Thailand in a few years, I guess I will include that in my budget.

The reason I keep a layered PSD file is since my camera isn't Pro quality (Nikon D80) I tend to work hard in Photoshop to get the most out of the RAW I can, this always involves Masks which I want to keep.

Bigstock.com / Re: Odd sales pattern here, too
« on: December 31, 2010, 14:30 »

Thanks for your understanding.   It takes a little time to investigate and make the various adjustments we have to make, which is why communication can sometimes lag behind the events themselves.  In other words, we make a first priority of aggressively addressing any issue, and once we know more, we can then stop and communicate to the larger group.

Of course, there are plenty of lightning-fast forum participants around here.  :)

We do appreciate your patience in the meanwhile.   Thanks!

Best,
Scott

Well Done Bigstock, it does make a big difference to us that you are on top of the situation.

Nothing for me.  You know your portfolio is really bad when even fraudulent buyers don't want your stuff.   :P ;D

LOL . . .  you are right, it is kind of insulting when no body wants to steal your stuff.  I feel left out some how. ;D

From reading the iStock forum it appears the only ones affected by this are exclusive contributors since they are the only ones reporting these strange sales in the forum. Lisa mentioned yesterday she had some strange sales also so maybe it isn't just exclusives. Has any one else had strange sales that are not exclusive here? I know I haven't.

Nope
