iStockPhoto.com / August 2023 statements are in early

Went to look at content statistics and nothing there so figure to check royalties and August is there already. Not a bad or great month, pretty average as per the chart....

What does blvdone as an exclusive to Pond5 think about this?

Adobe Stock / Re: Account blocked - I need help please

So just started some uploads for the week and for the first time am presented a checkbox with the message 'I understand my account can be suspended if I breach the guidelines.'

Fine, I check the box but sounds like a controlling government-style threat. The stuff up belongs to Adobe with its rushed, reactionary, opportunistic drive to swell its stock content database with AI nonsense, which I'm not part of or have any interest in it.

Very frustrating I can imagine having your account blocked.

But glad I never started with this AI nonsense. It creates only more problems, it seems.

Same here, considered AI but couldn't get motivated to start. Sooo glad I didn't now. Kind of surprising to me is that my relative small port of images(less than 700) continue to sell very well. Video hasn't been doing great lately but my photos on Adobe are selling. AI  image uploads haven't impacted  my photo sales on the Adobe platform.

Haven't updated Adobe password / ID recently? If so, probably a good idea to clear your browser cookies. And if not, maybe still a good idea to clear your browser cookies anyway. This might not be helpful or even relevant but good to consider all options when troubleshooting.

Yes, I had a good start to this month too (and best sales probably since November 2022) when these little gems popped in...

Overall good month, my best month ever on iStock to date beating my previous BME in March 2023 by 78 cents (aka 0.78$)  ;D

If you ever receive and answer a phone call from a scammer, you can often hear in the background an entire room of people talking, almost like a large team of telemarketers - except these are dedicated teams of tele-scammers. Their organisation's mission and purpose is to scam people of their money or bank savings from likely targets in wealthier countries.

I wonder what the job advert description for one of these positions is? 'We are looking to employ a further 3 professional scammers. Must have at least 5 years experience in scamming people over the phone and a track record of at least 5 monthly successful scams'.

See, there are full dedicated teams of scammers in countries where such practise is probably not illegal or regulated. They probably have organised teams for setting up accounts to sell stolen content and are piling on. One gets caught and taken down then another three accounts meanwhile are being created.

Have a DMCA notice or whatever email at the ready, edit and send through asap.

The problem with many, even most, newbies is that their initial inspiration likely came from a silly make-thousands-every-month-by-uploading-3-to-5 photos-from-your-cell-phone-no-experience-necessary Youtoob video... Only to find out it doesn't go as planned and quit. By dropping said minimum payout will hook in more to keep uploading thus building a bigger data library.

General Stock Discussion / Re: This month's sales
« on: August 02, 2023, 20:10 »
So July 2023 was my second-best performing month of the year and second month where I feel I achieved a satisfactory monthly earnings result.

Only thing is, unlike June where all agencies performed strong, July it was Shutterstock the only agency that did well while the other three (Pond5, iStock, Adobe Stock) didn't. It's not good because if the only one performing agency has a poor month then it impacts the overall result significantly.

Shutterstock accounted for 60% of the overall earnings in July 2023. This was due to video sales performing strong while other agencies cannot seem to deliver on video as well as Shutterstock does. Still images is another story altogether where Adobe Stock typically performs best.

Pond5 has really died down again for me this month. I wouldn't ever go exclusive with them. Also who's to say that Shutterstock can't deliver big(ger) sales? Yes there are lots of low sales which are quite pathetic but there are lot of higher sales too and overall the site performs a lot better for me than the others (namely Pond5, Adobe Stock, iStock). The attached daily video sales was just from yesterday, admittedly my best daily earnings for this year to date, but a whole lot better than the other sites even before I had these sales.

Good for you.  Whatever works for you.  But on average, video contributors are reporting sales have gone down to 1/4 or less from before video sub was introduced on Shutterstock.  I sell my HD videos for $89 on Pond5 currently.  So, I get $50 or so on regular HD sales and over $100 on 4k sales in which I price at $199.  So, I don't want to give potential buyers an option to shop around and buy on Shutterstock or Adobe Stock and result in me getting $3 instead of $50-$120.  Too much damage.  Just doesn't make sense anymore to sell on Shutterstock or AdobeStock video subs even if I get occasional regular price or premium license sales.  RPD on Shutterstock and Adobe Stock is ridiculously low now.  Not worth it.  Seeing those video sub sales report makes me only angry, disgusted and unhappy thinking I could've gotten more than 10x on Pond5.  It's really bad for my mental health.

I do understand where you're coming from as some or even many of those commissions are pathetically low. But curious how are you going with sales on Pond5 exclusive account? Is this making up for the absence of sales from other platforms?

Just had some of the fastest reviews (and acceptance) of editorial photos on Adobe this morning. Still hungry for editorial images which is good to see.

I just find Pond5 doesn't move enough content and generate enough sales, even if I was receiving 100% commission on sales. I've always said though and add here again, that I do like Pond5 and actually prioritize the platform when uploading video. Just wished they could sell more for mine.

Month was okay, not great but not poor either, with an RPD of $1.59 for images and videos combined.

General Stock Discussion / Re: SS vs Adobe performance

Even taking into account port size difference, Shutterstock is well ahead of Adobe so far this month.

368
Pond5 has gone completely dead for me (again) while Adobe Stock has withered (again) and last 4 (four) video sales on Shutterstock amount to a pathetically low (again) of $8.90. Very few if any of my buyers would be linked to those strike activities going on. This whole industry seems like its in a slump presently.

I actually had my best June to date as shown in the attached monthly comparison chart. Included in the earnings is the Adobe Free Collection but represents less than 4% of the overall earnings for the month.

June was my best month of 2023 to date and best month since November 2022. The better overall earnings is due to all four main agencies (iStock / Shutterstock / Pond5 / Adobe Stock) performing well and significant growth of the video ports especially since relocating back to Sydney in November 2021 where I have access to much more places to capture content.

I'm having my second best month of the year on Shutterstock with a mix of low and higher commissions on videos and download numbers overall are pretty good. So take heart that your poor month is probably temporary because I've had some very slow periods during this year when others are reporting all is peachy. Appears that internal 'adjustments' will impact different ports either negatively or positively.
:o
The comissions are NOT cut "temporary" from 0.38 to 0.10.

True but don't rely on subs to build earnings, get more videos uploaded.

Personally, I would never use a third party uploader even if you get this unfair advantage of bumped up commission on Shutterstock.  Third party uploaders have their operation cost as a business.  You never know if they go belly up bankrupt and cease operation suddenly owing you some money just like some stock sites have ended up in the past.  Also, you never know if they may be lying about your sales.  It's just much safer uploading on your own and be in total control.  I know it's convenient for many who use those third party uploaders, but I've never considered about using those services.

Ditto. You just answered how I would of so I don't have to. ;D
