SS is now abysmal for sales. Why it is the top rated here I do not know. IS earning me much more now.

trust that I have complained my fair share But, Bottom Line they are selling more than any other site and a Lot of folks are making very good money. Is it about the work? and commercial Value? Could be......Just saying.

Well I have been getting steady increased sales for some time and then suddenly (like a lot of others) a drop. that is nothing to do with the work. It's something more serious like Google.

Love your abstract painting BTW. Stunning colours.  :D

« on: October 17, 2014, 02:04 »
The slow, painful, laborious task of keywording every image to see absolutely no returns on your invested time is enough to ask what is the fuss all about with Alamy ? I have had just 3 sales in getting on for 3 years. These images sell well on IS/SS. Waste of time.

Some days good, some days dire. Everything is like digital, either a 1 or a 0 in terms of contrast.

Well 2 years ago my balance was 30 something and still it is 30 something. I cannot believe that Canstock is rated so high here above Envito which sells my images on a regular basis. Is there any way I can withdraw my money and close my account ?

Just pushed the creaky door open and the cobwebs and balance are the same.

There is a room called Dreamstime. When I can remember I push the creaky old door open, have a peek inside the cobwebbed room, musty smell and ah..... there it is. The same balance since last time I visited.

I don't know what they have done to their site but since then sales tanked. Off a cliff. Nothing for Monday.

Same building 2 shots accepted. 1 shot some time later of same building, slightly wider angle rejected as needs building release.

As bad as it can be for a Monday. No sales. Very very worrying.  :-\

Computer Hardware / Dell 2209WA screen fault
« on: September 06, 2014, 03:24 »
I have had this monitor for 5 years but of late the bottom left corner of the screen seems to pick up an impression of the music software sequencer I was running previously. There is still a faint trace of it again today but can only be seen on certain shades like light grey and sometimes white.

Can anyone help what this might be and more importantly how to stop it?

I made 50 dollars in the last 7 days, I have over 2100 images and footage.  :'(

So why the sad face ? I would be very happy with that amount on that number of files.

Aug was bad for stills. Video saved me for a payout. This month so far is looking just as bad if not worse. No sales today.

391
Looks like it's continuing for me because I have had zero sales. For a Monday that is insane.

This is no fluke.

It's been widely reported that most SS veterans are reporting lower sales.  There are two primary reasons:

- THE BIG CRASH OF EARLY 2013.  Most veterans can pinpoint the month of March 2013 as when their earnings took a massive hit and have never recovered.  Some believe there was a significant change in search results, and SS themselves have admitted they saw a huge rise in new contributors that month, most likely due to former iS exclusives dropping the crown and joining at that time.

- HUGE INCREASE IN OVERALL COMPETITION.  It's an unavoidable mathematical truth.  All other factors being equal, to maintain the status quo, the average contributor must grow his/her port at the same rate that an agency's overall collection grows.  If Shutterstock's collection grew from 25 to 40 million in the past year (which it has) its total offerings grew by 60%.  Did your SS port grow by 60% in the past year?  If not, you're probably making less money than you did a year ago.  Factor in the Big Crash, and your decrease may be HUGE.

I can't say I agree that the competition would kick into affect in one month so drastically. It would be a slower ramp than this. It is something else for sure to do with the search algorithm.

Last batch all but one got accepted. A day later a whole batch (after half a day's editing) gets rejected. Coupled with dire sales there ain't much incentive to upload to SS anymore.

Still abysmal. No more sales weeks on.

395
Yesterday was a bit better than the last week or so but today has dropped off again.  I am still finding a lot of my images coming up in the search, some on the first page but i cant see why the decline.

It's happening at SS right now for a lot of us too. Perhaps this is the end of microstock and we have |Google to thank.

So if most of us are reporting terrible sales (if any at all) what benefit is all this to SS ? They need telling really.

Herg this is a sensor spot!

Managed to get my D200 working again (dead battery syndrome) and get the mirror up to clean the sensor as advised on youtube tutorial using blower. Ditto the mirror also. Suffice to say the spot is still there in the same place despite cleaning twice to make sure. This tells me the spot is indeed on the inside of the lens :-(

Well all I can say is IS beats SS hands down for consistent sales. SS has flatlined this month and 2 days with no sales. That is a first for me.
