I wouldn't really want to receive Bitcoin as payment, but if Adobe did then that's fine by me. Unless they're planning to hold a long term balance of Bitcoin then they'd have to get rid of them on a daily basis. Otherwise you've got Elon buying a bunch of them and they make 20% in a day... or selling a bunch of them and they've lost 20% in a day.
"From the stock contributor side what do we have to lose when so many stock sites are paying 10 cents a sell."
Well, you'll still going to get the same amount from Adobe whether they accept Bitcoin or not. I'm assuming the prices of items would still be set in Dollars or whatever and the Bitcoins will be converted to match the amount. If they posted prices in Bitcoin then they're going to have to update them every day.
The only way this would make a significant impact to our earnings, is if there's a significant amount of people out there who are not buying stock purely due to Bitcoin not being accepted.

They probably can't afford to pay us
Highly unlikely. Q4 results will be out tomorrow, but they made more profit in Q3 2020 than the whole of 2019, so they're not short of a bob or two!

All seems above board to me. I think the portion of people buying our content who aren't making any money (or at least saving money) as a result of how they're using it is going to be very minimal (even if its indirectly)... and the fact they're making money from our content is what keeps them coming back for more. Obvioulsy the less that revenue relies on their contribution, the more lazy it comes across as (i.e. one image in a magazine vs what you're describing)... but as long as they're within the license terms then I think it's all good.

Hey Mat, not really related to the Q and A but there's a bit of an issue I'd be grateful if you could look into for me...
So recently I've been getting a lot of 'updates on my submission' emails regarding 'pending remainders' on video files I've submitted. Probably over the last six months or so. The reminder said there was an issue with keywords. Usually I take out any words that I feel might be problematic or a little bit out of the ordinary/too technical, and they eventually get approved. Last month though, I had a few videos that just wouldn't get approved no matter how much I played around with them.
Emailed support and it turns out they were being blocked for using the word 'space'. I removed the word and they got approved, hoping it was a bug that would be fixed pretty rapidly/easily. Now I'm still getting files rejected for using the word space, which... is a pretty important word for the content I'm uploading! If there's any chance you could drop a line to the powers that be, that would be much appreciated.
Cheers!

Not got mine yet. Paypal, over the minimum, reset to zero, got the email saying my earnings had been calculated, tax info up to date, no refunds, correct Paypal address in my account. Does say the 15th officially (even though it never is) so will give it a week and drop them a line.

You only have to pay 40% to the taxman... if you're in the 40% tax group? Who would have thought it?!

Maybe SS should get some theft insurance?
The thing with insurance is that, on average, it always costs more than it pays out. And as SS are unlikely to cover the cost of that, it's going to be passed on to contributors, or split with them at the very least. At the end of the day, you'd lose more money than if they didn't have insurance.

It showed sales number seven years ago when this was discussed (and probably up to a few years ago), but not anymore.

the fact that soome US members with over 50000 files are down 70% is all lies no truth at all since they are lying!
So how exactly does 'soome US members with over 50000 files are down 70%' prove that 'all revenues are geared towards the eastern blocks, Thailand etc, etc'?!

There's already plenty of models 3D scanned with fotorealistic details selling for less than 10$.
I'm on about full humans in natural poses in lifestyle shots, not passport photos. I think you'd be hard pressed to find an example of a stock shot of a group of CG humans having a business meeting, cooking dinner, at the pub etc? Like this for example... https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/young-family-children-having-fun-nature-592802372

For example, Nowadays you don't need real people you can use some GAN Ai services and create a face that doesn't exist. Photo shoots are much more easier and cheap than rent studio, hire people and real models. We can do it almost everything in a Pc with a 3d environment.
I think photo-realistic CG models in lifestyle shots is still a bit of a long way off. I don't think I've ever seen one, let alone enough for it to be commonplace.

...Fernando de Noronha, 350km off the coast of Northeastern Brazil, where Ive been living for the past two years!
Google says 354km back in 2021... so I'm impressed with your attention to detail when it comes to projected rising sea levels.

Not entirely sure why, but after being at iStock for over 5 years I've never once looked at the earnings reports (just the overall amount)... until I read this thread and decided to give it a try. Now I knew we got 20%, and I knew how much I was making every month, so I'm not exactly complaining... but I never knew I'd be getting as low as $0.03 for a video download! Makes Shutterstock look almost generous with their $0.26 sales!
Also makes me wish the occasional $275 sale was at somewhere with a higher royalty rate, so I was getting more than $55 for them! Ah well, them's the breaks.

...anyhow when there is a contract between supplier and distributor that contract the contract is an Agency-contract and is exactly the same as if they was your Agent.
Sorry, but that's just not true. While there may be some similarities, these stock sites are not our agents... and while you can draw comparisons or make similarities or make assumptions about what BAPLA would or wouldn't view it as all you like... it says quite clearly in the legal agreement that they're not our agents.
392
« on: January 17, 2021, 06:39 »
So you understand that they're not your agent, as stated in the Shutterstock legal terms, but you're also stating that they are in fact your agent? 25 years or not... it would appear you're slightly confused.

The 3 billion in property... maybe. The 4 billion... highly unlikely. Based on the loans, the failing businesses and the fact that at least half the country want to have nothing to do with the Trump name/brand... I'd be surprised if he was worth more than 400 million at best. 4 million at worst 40 million somewhere in the middle. He'll be broke before long unless he gets more seasons of the apprentice.

I realised a few years back, that as soon as they bought outside shareholders on board, the writing was on the wall
You realise a few years after they bought outside shareholders on board, that as soon as they bought outside shareholders on board, the writing was on the wall?

...it could have been the man in the moon as long as Trump was out! he cant even speak properly.
That's a bit harsh. He can speak just as well as the average guy on the street, he just makes considerably more mistakes than you'd normally expect from someone is such a position. I mean... Tanzaynia, Beyoncey, Nambia, Diversary, Ulucious, Shtatesh, Anomous, Yo-Semites, Covfefe. All relatively simple for you and I, but I'm sure he'll get it one day. And lets not get started on the busy airports during civil war times.

...and do not charge us Australian income tax (since I believe there is a tax treaty between the US and Australia).
There is a tax treaty between the US and Australia which is why you should be getting charged 5% rather than 30%. If you're not then you should get in touch as you'll probably have to update your tax details.

While there's a very small chance you'll find somebody on here who has had a German and an Indonesian Paypal account, it might just be easier to go to the German and Indonesian websites for Paypal and compare the two.
And while I can't blame you for looking for the lowest fees, your initial question insinuates you may be under the impression that you'll pay less income tax with an Indonesian account... but it's important to keep in mind that you don't really get to choose which country you pay tax in (Offshore companies being an exception). In most cases, you usually have an obligation to pay tax in whatever country you spend the majority of the tax year in.
398
« on: January 13, 2021, 12:54 »
Go for the one that matches the country you spend the majority of the year in, and go for a business account if you have a registered business or plan to have one in the not too distant future.

I think a 328,200,000 player 'Call of Duty' team battle would be more fun, cheaper, less destructive, and result in less deaths. And everyone would have a games console at the end of it... although the final result would probably still be disputed.

Uncle Pete!! I read another type of analysis! the people, Calif and corps supported the Dems mainly because they can control the easily led Democrats, all it takes is a bit of money and they are quite gullible. Sillicon valley alone will eat them alive! Biden is probably just a front figure and old and decrepid.
Where did you read this analysis? By the sounds of it, it was in amongst articles on flat Earth, Bill Gates wanting to destroy the universe and the world being run by lizard people who want to eat our children.
