There are groups to identify pretty much anything on Facebook.
Good idea. I'm going to check that too!

I find that asking actual humans who know a lot more than I do is the best way.
https://www.birdforum.net/forum.php
That's a great page, not only for birds, but for all kinds of animals. Scroll down to Nature In General and I'm sure someone will identify your find.
I'm gonna try that one . Thanks!

Take as clear a picture as possible, with the plainest background possible.
Now, feed that to Google Image search. When I start with a good photo, I almost always find out what it is within 5 sec that way. Doesn't work so well if you have a clutter background, or the item in question is not reasonably isolated though.
I often find the names using reverse image search by Google as well but I have a spider now that I can't find the name and I don't know any spider biologist I took some footage and pictures and I don't want to just say "brown spider...".

Hi. I would like to know about some webpages or apps where you can ask about the species of an organism. I usually take pictures of flowers and insects and in some cases it is difficult to find the common and scientific names of these organisms. I've tried whatsthatbug but I have not had an answer yet.

I'm currently uploading to the following:
Pond5 Dreamstime iStock Shutterstock Depositphotos Adobe Stock Videoblocks Motionelements
I uploaded in the past to Pixta but it's very weird they don't accept 4K. They also take like more than a month to review footage. So I stopped with them. I wouldn't recommend 123RF since they are not reviewing new uploads anymore. You have to email them and push them to review.
I agree with SS being easy to upload, also DP. Adobe Stock is also very easy. On the other hand, Videblocks is the fastest in reviewing! they employ like half a day.
I'm thinking about not uploading more to ME, DP and DT, what are your opinions?
I upload to Nimia beucase they have like a backup system but I don't actually sell there.
Yes David, i use Nimia like that as well, i actually don't have my full portfolio there, i just upload what I personally like most, although it is technicall a microstock agency i don't look at them like that...
Videoblocks is the slowest for me so far! they warn me that i should expect 3 weeks waiting time, and they actually take that time... weird, i don't know how they create their waiting lines... SS is the fastest for me (many times less than a day), and yes i agree, Adobe Stock is also really easy to use.
I will check the others i'm not uploading to, my plan is by the end of April to upload everything i have by than to 4-5 new ones.
As i said, i'm very new to the game so i wouldn't have any valid advice to give regarding which ones NOT to upload to i can only comment on the workflow ease, not on sales results, that i will the mean time gladly share (i hope i'll have something to share )
It's kind of weird about Videoblocks. For me it s very very fast. Maybe you are uploading complex footage? I upload very short nature footage so it's kind of simple. As I said before I don't recommend Pixta or 123RF. I upload to iStock but they tend to pay misery (0.67 usd per video for example) but some people said it gets better. Also, uploading video to Adobe stock somehow makes your photo portfolio to be more exposed which is good for me since I mainly do stills.

Your exposure will increase if you participate in the DT message board forum, write articles and join collections Hope this helps.
Is that really helpful to actually sell more?
Pretty much useless I think, like their advice to give your images for free to lure buyers to your portfolio
https://www.dreamstime.com/thread_22087
"Database exposure represents the percentage between your online images vs. the total database at a given date. Not to be mistaken for the Portfolio Exposure (compared to the Top Contributor)"
I was guessing that lol

last year was my best month an so far i had more than 350 download in ss and near 120 in istock....we are at 120 in ss and 21 in stock.....everything is falling down seems. i thought holiday were still on till last weekend but today is still pretty slow, practically only best seller with good position sells. don't know what to thug but i had other hopes for this 2019
and in that 350 there were two 79 dollar a bunch of 44....now the max is a bunch of 2,85 the rest subs.... for me those unsplash and pixel free are simply killing this business.
BTW why those websites exist? Like who pay for those to exist? My January is going okay.

I used macro recorder that automates mouse and keyboard operation to delete all my images there. Once you configured it everything goes quit fast.

Definitely not my highest earner. However, when I look at the stats, it's not that bad. It's my 4th highest revenue generator (after SS, IS and Alamy), even though the three highest earners have way higher numbers. If I look at the RPI, it's the 5th one (Adobe does better, but my portfolio is smaller there, as I mainly upload Editorial content). Furthermore, it is probably the platform that has the most stable RPI, which is a pretty good sign for future developments.
So, as a low earner, I definitely advice to give it a try, without spending too much time, and without expecting huge return.
Same here And yes, kind of better for editorials.

I had about 1200 images on them. I got one sale in two years. Pull all the images last year.
Did you have regular "views"?

For me them and Dreamstime (though not often) sell the pictures by me I personally like the most. I also seem to sell a more consistent pattern on Istock....Shutterstock seems to vary wildly...lately my best sellers are selling over and over a couple of months back I was selling six year old stuff for the first time!
On the contrary for me DT sells the photos I don't like at all.

The problem is that other agencies require specific set of data in order for MR to be accepted, so if DT (or any other) sample doesn't include shoot date or whatever iS, SS, AS or else requires, they just won't accept it.
I understand, that's why I use the is template for all because it contains a lot of info but it's kind of annoying. My question is that anyone has been lucky with a same simple model release template for different agencies...

Hi everyone. I was wondering if there will be any model release format accepted by the most common agencies (SS, AS, BS, iS, etc) that should not include the date of the photo or a description or a "photo" of the model? I have usually used the model release of iS that is easily accepted by other agenies but requires a lot of info, so it takes time and paper to fill that out. Recently I saw the model release of Dreamstime and it does not need more than the information of the photographer and model, does anyone know about one similar to this or the one by Dreamstime is accepted by the other agencies? Which model release format/template do you use that is very simple and it's accepted equally in several agencies (upload the same photo)? Thank you!

Thank you. Since I'm still fairly new and the delay they have in notifying you of purchases makes it a little challenging.
For example, I just started uploading in November, 2018. In that month I had 1 view. Just last week the November sales numbers came out and that 1 view = 1 sale. Since December, 2018 numbers aren't out yet, I'm not sure how many of my views are sales.
Again, just trying to get an idea of what's selling.
You can use this trick. In ESP website (esp.gettyimages.com) go to my performance -> royalties and then "profile". You can see there your downloads year to date. Those are refreshed every hour or so, I guess. Since this new year just started those are your sales until this day from January 1st. I think you will have to wait until Jan 20th to see your December sales. Also, I have had sales without views and it's quite common. It's super weird lol, the app says for example 1 sale, 0 views. But normally my ratio is 1:4 sales:views (1 sale every 4 views). You can also see your portfolio page, your most likely sold pictures appear first when you select "best match" organization... (over your recent accepted pictures).

Do you use the Getty Contributor App? If so, I have a question for you.
When you go to the "My Photos" section, under "Stats", there is a count of "Views". Underneath they show the actual photos "viewed". However, it kind of seems like those "views" are actually purchases.
Is the count of "Views" truly just views or are they purchases... or a combination of views and purchases?
It's just the views (white left number). The purchases also appear with a different number and color (green, right). Views are refreshed everyday but purchases monthly on 20th day.

Deposit!!!!! One word - Run!!!!!!
I mean it. One of the most unserious business is this branch. We had some serious business going on with them, and was part of their Enterprise pack. Cool communication and stuff - Right until we questioned their new pricing plan. They totally ignored our emails and phone calls for one month. Then over night we deleted our complete portfolio. Guess who called us the next day!
So pathetic!
Advice from one of the few serious stock companies here
Are sales good there? I have almost my same portfolio and not a lot of sales. Considering no uploading more but it's pretty easy tho. I love their interface

The same happened to me and I contacted them via live chat and they fixed my tax form. They were requesting a very special number in my national taxpayer info that any other agency needed before lol
