Newbie Discussion / Re: Workflow & Tools
« on: March 09, 2019, 09:34 »
Thank you for the answers.

I use to edit the pictures first, remove dust, etc. When I have a 10 batch  I create a text file with the title and the keywords while I upload them to every agency with filezilla. Every single picture has a number, so I can find them (the name of the jpg is the number).

So I just copy and paste the information from the text file. First I submit to shutterstock to correct the words and add some of the sugestions.

Then the rest of agencies.

It's a quite similar method I think.

Hi everybody, fairly new to stock photography and wondering what you boys and girls do as far as a workflow for getting photos ready, keywording and then submitting to the likes of Shutterstock, AdobeStock etc.

I'm positive there are people who have better methods, but just to answer. Once I have the editing and culling finished, ready to upload, renamed and whatever else.

1) I add keywords to every image, batch add if they are similar, then go to SS and use the keywording tool to find words I might have missed. Paste that into everything. If single image same. Important always have the best keywords Title and Description embeded in the files.

Hi.

Can I ask you why this step? It's not enough to set the titles/descriptions and keywords on the web? I don't use to do it and can see my pictures well indexed (I think so).

Thanks.

And now I have got a brand new router with a fantastic router signal  ;D ;D ;D

Mi ISP didn't have more models to try.

I can't upload via browser since the last half a month. The upload begins but stops without finishing and sends me to unfinished files but the files are not there.

Just can use filezilla.

Just to note, this problem stopped me of uploading since 2015 or 2016. I told them in email, they replied in two words "it's all ok, the problem is on your side". OK then...lol

Same situation here. They told that everything was ok so... what did I do?

Call to my ISP hundreds of times, and change my router three times. Several arguments with them and they didn't know how to do afer dozens os tests. A f. joke.

The ftp uses to work to me.

Hi:

Do you know if La Defense Grande Arche can be used as editorial caption? I have uploaded one picture a few months ago and I think that was rejected by Shutterstock and Bigstock but accepted by the other agencies  :o Is this normal?

What is "copy space"? A picture with space to write or paste something like a text or logo?

Do you use "copy space" as a keyword?

Some landscapes are backgrounds, not all are. I tag accordingly and by my own opinion. If the shot is something that can be used a a background, with copy space and open areas, I might use background. I don't think there's an absolute answer that yes or no, they are or are not.

"copy space"?

That's the reason why I have made the question. Don't understand yet how the buyers search and which it's the better option (FAQ are not clear for me).

The point is that my English sometimes is not good enough... some words in Spanish doesn't mean exactly the same.

But I understand that the main point it's the buyer's mind and It's really hard to me to think about it all the time.

Look:

-----------
Backgrounds and textures: content that has the appearance of a computer wallpaper or wallpaper or a photograph or illustration that was created as a background. For example: landscapes, architectural details, textures, patterns, flat photos, etc.

Newbie Discussion / Landscape and categories question
« on: February 11, 2019, 07:49 »
Hi:

Newbie question:

Which categories do you select in the agencies when you have more than one and you upload a landscape?

I use use to shot a lot of landscapes like beaches or mountains and I use to set "travel" and "backgrounds" or "nature" and "backgrounds" or "landscape" and "backgrounds".

I mean, if I have just one I select "travel", "landscape" or "nature" (like in AS) but if I have two I use to set one as "background".

In these pictures I don't use to shot persons or buildings. I understand that may be used as "backgrounds" but because of my short english I'm not sure. Maybe I'm wrong.

How do you set this kind of pictures?

Thank you very much  ;)

Lol.

Before sending my USD to an USD account they convert them to euros.

They say that I can send USD to a "real" US account. No accounts like Transferwise.

Have to call them again. A Transferwise USD account is like an US account and from there I would be able to covert to euros with a lower fee.

Maybe the phone operator didn't understand me.

Newbie Discussion / Paypal?
« on: January 29, 2019, 08:05 »
Hi:

Do you know which is the better way to earn the royaties from microstock in the EU? I've phoned paypal (my current option) and they told to me that I can't transfer USD to another account in USD before and euro conversion. I mean, if I have have an account with the US code (like in transferwise f.i.) paypal first change my USD to euros and then transfer the euros to the USD acount (which is great, still thinking if this was a joke from the operator).

So, I have to pay their change commision in any way and always transfer to local currency first.

I've read that transferwise have lower change and transfer fees, so I thought to transfer from paypal to tranferwise the USD and then to my local bank in euros.

But I think that I'm tied to Paypal.

(apologies for my English)
