It's still up, on the second page when you follow the link.
They sell prints (on canvas or fine art paper) of your picture, so I thought that's allowed with an extended license?

Under the same impression here. I think there is an extended license for selling prints, t-shirts, coffee mugs, calanders etc..

Thanks - I see it now.

I guess the phrase "...in July 08 and subsequent months that follow" suggests that they might continue this promotion beyond July. 20 cents a credit is pretty low and while I understand that 123rf has to pay us when it received nothing from the customer, it's also true that they get to decide how many of these giveaways they do and to whom. We have no control over this.

Suppose they decided to give free 123rf packs to customers who buy from their other sites as a promo when they buy something expensive? Perhaps they would choose not to do that, but there's nothing (AFAIK) that prevents this sort of thing.

I guess I'll try and watch the credit sales to see how many of these show up.

totally agree.

Cool advice!! Thanks, I will try that RT. If it doesn't work than at least I will have learned a new trick  :)
The image was shot on beach with a steep incline so lining up the horizon without making the chair and table crooked was kinda tough. Also agree it would be better if it was more crooked. As for the noise or discoloration in the shadows(the rejection reason) you might be right about that also. It was somewhat borderline and could have gone either way with the reviewer.

In that case, why not straighten the horizon by cloning it down without moving the girl or the rest of the image... it is blurry enough you could fake it pretty easily... would make for a more marketable image :)

I agree a leveled horizon line is a good thing, but I never stop noticing a tilted horizon in one of IS' initial pages, it's a photo of a smiling little kid at the beach.

Adelaide
Agree here also. I like a level horizon as well but oddly enough one of my favorite images that I have done has a crooked horizon. Sometimes it just works, not sure why, but doesn't feel the same when you straighten it. I always try and trust my gut more than composition rules. If a picture looks or feels better upside down or sideways, crooked, twisted, noisy, out of focus...why not go with it. I've had more sales and magazines print my crooked swing picture than any of the straight ones. Not because its crooked but because the emotion is different that way.

A good example is the couple picture that is in the top 50 of all time on shutterstock. Bigtime crooked, but it works.

One thing I always check is if it makes you dizzy  :) if it does than its not gonna work.

I thought about the horizon but didn't straighten it because I didn't want to lose the hand in the top right hand corner. Usually that is the first thing I do in photoshop. I think I remember trying it and liked it better this way. Its not cropped so I didn't have much room. I figure they can always crop it later or not. My eyes are drawn to the girl and mood first, only after staring for a while do I notice the crooked horizon. Probably different for everyone. Also, the table and chair would be tweaked if I move the horizon.

Right, I like this idea. It just takes a little work to do it. Not sure I want to waste my time though unless the image starts selling a lot on other sites, but I don't think its gonna happen.

Typically that's very bad color noise, so if you have some deep shadow areas (which would then be underexposed), that'd be a place to look. If the area that's suffering is out of focus and/or not very detailed, you can generally fix with Noise Ninja (or the like) masked to show only those parts that really need cleanup

Thanks, I think you got it right. the color starts to break up in the darkest of shadows, like a patchy red and black. It was a new rejection so I was curious.

I know this is too small to see much. I am pretty sure the problem is in the shadows along her torso and hair. Her skin was underexposed to keep from blowing out the sarong and white wash to much. Used a lot of noise reduction/blur on the shadows. I don't think it will sell that much, I just liked the file and wanted to have it in my port. Maybe shot not possible without a fill light?

I got this rejection today

"This file contains an excess of pixel discoloration when viewed at 100%, which we felt too severe and would affect the quality of print production".

First time seeing this reason, wondering if someone knows what it means?

Is this a result of the image being underexposured?

Have resubmit option, is it fixable?

I bet it feels good to be back home  :). I once kissed the street when I got home after driving a 4X4 around Costa Rica for two weeks. So many things we take for granted here.

I would just leave the account open, that way you can protect your username just in case.

Also, agree waiting is the right way to go. If your earnings are over 50-60% on the same site month after month after month, then maybe being exclusive makes sense. Seems to be different for everyone.

389
I believe you can still keep your account on dreamstime as long as all your images are disabled. Selling RF anywhere while exclusive at istock is what is forbidden. Also, disabling 30% of your newest images uploaded in the last 6 months, will shorten the wait.

However, it is not necessary to disable 30% right away if you still have a 6 month wait. Just stop uploading, figure out 30% of your newest files uploaded in the last 6 months. Then count backwards and you should be able to find the date when you can disable the rest of your port. Am I making any sense?, sounds a little confusing, but there is some truth in what I'm saying  :)

Ya can't fight it. I think people just evolve and look for new inspiration. I haven't been at photography long enough to make to many changes, but agree photoshop is becoming more and more interesting. To be able to create something that is impossible in the real world.

I had a similar experience with music. Started off with just an acoustic guitar. Fast forward 20 years and ended up with studio filled with tons of equipment and spent most of my time tweaking dials. Would have never thunk it.

Now I just hope to enjoy what I am doing.

It just looks like classic "The boy who cried wolf"

If you pimp, people assume that you are pimping regardless of what your real intentions are.

No offense meant. Best of luck to your model.

Just out of curiousity, how long does it take you to do something like this if you don't mind me asking?

394
I'm sure others would know much better than myself. But here is how I would do it.

photoshop>open image>open image to be combined>drag new image onto background>create layer mask>invert(ctrl, backspace)>paint away...

395
If the background and light are the same than I would just paint it in. If you don't have to worrry about the edges should be a piece of cake  :)

Have you done this before?

396
Not sure if there is an easy way to make the edge's look natural at 100% crop. If the backgrounds of the 2 images are the same tone it might be easy. If not, then its a lot of work. Something like replacing a sky is pretty easy. Blending a person or complex object into a new picture can be very time consuming, and takes a lot of patience.

Someone please tell me I missed the boat and there is push botton magic isolation blending software out there?

BME across the board, 15% increase in sales.

IS 51%
SS 23%
others 26%

Agree with sharply, thats some scary looking fringing!!! I'm not sure if Canon makes a good wide angle lens? I think they vary from copy to copy, so its a good idea if you can give a test run before you buy it. I have a 16-35 II that I bought a while ago and I don't care for it much either. Corners are soft and lots of barrel distortion. I have heard a few good stories about the 16-35L I and the 17-40L if you get a good copy. Also, would look at the 14mm if I was going to get another. None of those lenses are cheap and it kinda sucks if you spend all that money just to be disappointed.

I would try to send it back, clearly something wrong with that copy.

Just an observation. I just find it odd that in the real world people bite their lips, and then let you have it when you leave the room. In the Forums, its anything goes!!! I'm not sure which is better.  :-\

There should be a big sign that says "post at your own risk"  :D
