They have really crapped out as a ms site - from inane rejections, to almost zero sales, this site has fallen by the wayside.
The only change ive seen is on the homepage now you can opt in to give them an image to give away for free, and links to promote their site. How contributer friendly! (Pls dont chime back with 'this benefits contributers by promoting their ports blah blah)

The originalartist always gets birned from lost sales but the stock agency still makes their profit - how fair is that?

Why waste time deleting when theres no benefit in doing so? Besides, you never know when it may sell

I would NEVER pay a fee to sell my images - esp the agency is already getting the lions share of royaltys. Thats our generous fee they pocket every time they sell our image.
Besides , how would you ever be able to moniter the 'fairness' of the system in display/promoting YOUR images? You have no say, no control, and no way to know how that is taking place. Fogettaboutit.
As was mentioned, they already have Offset. They should curate images from regular contributers into offset, that fit the criteria. Im sure many contributers would have at least a few images that could make it into the premium collection - and how would they be if that happened? They would probably be spurred on to submitiing more and better content.

The "Nuclear" option would be to go for exclusive authors I know they've said they never would but it would create a difficult situation for many contributors
Thos would be a huge gamble- SS is undoibtedly still #1 when it comes to volume. But to have artists go exclusive, you would have to make it lucrative enough that srtists would go for it - in other words SS would effectivly have to make up for the sum total artists receive from all their sites, including other agencies and even personal sites. And it would have to be beleived by the artists that afterwards, another downward spiral in coms would not begin. Thats a big ask. You would definitly polarize contributers. That is a huge gamble, I dont think they would risk - its all or nothing. Sometimes it might be better to even accept being #2 - keep a steady business going and swallow your pride.

I keep most of my RAW's but never jpegs.. once the jpeg has been uploaded or delivered to the client - they're deleted.
I mean if I ever need that jpeg again, i just export another copy from Lr.
What happens if your RAW file gets corrupt? I've had quite a few problems with LR file corruption. The file gets a "!" icon and when you click it, it says something like "Lightroom cannot read this file".
This is why it is beneficial to have duplicates on seperate storage systems

Peter -- I think the FAA might want a word with you!! LOL!
That is actually disconcerting

When a contributor submits a batch of vectors with such radically different styles you'd think the reviewer would open their eyes just a bit and say "hmmm".
They are paid a pittance - they will just try and plow through a crapload of images, sometimes why i think entire batches are rejected for one reason

Just a reminder; if you opt out of ELs and a customer requests one, you will get e-mail from support asking if they can process it for you. You don't have to opt back in. I turned down one at $22 and accepted two at $40 each - my policy now is to say yes if the royalty is $28 or higher
YEP
? I dont think you have opted out of el from what i recall so wth does 'yep' mean?

The guy behind FAA seems to have a 5 minute attention span. Every couple of months he announces some big new 'opportunity'. "Designer discounts", image licensing, shower curtains, catalog sales through retail stores... and now electronic subscriptions. Anything except helping us sell what we want to sell at the price we want to get.
Looking for ways to make his next million on the backs of bonehead, consenting peons

how optomistic are these numbers used in their 'example'?
For example, let's say that the royalty rate is set at $0.00005 per minute per image. That number looks very low, but it adds up quickly. Let's see how it works. There are roughly 43,200 minutes in an average month. If a buyer selects your image and displays it on his digital picture frame for the entire month, you would earn $0.00005 x 43,200 = $2.16 from that single device for that month. Now, if 100 different buyers did that, you would earn $216 for the month. That's not an enormous number, but it's not too shabby, either. Keep in mind, the digital picture frame is being manufactured by a very well known electronics manufacturer who will be putting their full marketing might behind making this product a success and getting it into as many homes as possible.Let's say that there are 100,000+ digital picture frames out there in the world. If Fine Art America and the electronics manufacturer decide to feature one of your images and promote it to all of the digital frame owners via a newsletter or a mobile push-notification, it's entirely possible that 1,000+ of them might decide to stream your image to their digital picture frames. That starts to generate serious revenue very quickly.
i think only faa will be making money on this, and as usual the artists/suppliers get screwged

Thank you.

It definitely takes a cut out of our profits, to give the photographers 70%! There's no denying that. But we think it's better to tighten our margins and attract world class photographers. We'll make up the difference in volume, because we have the best photographers in the world selling their work.
did i read it wrong or did they mention world-class photographers will go with that???
Yes this is what world class photographers want - crappy commissions

Some days ago I got a bit over $13 for EL. This is extreme. It is over 50% pay-cut and I am on the highest tier, I can't imagine what it would be if I was on first royalty level.
If you are willing to accept $13 how much do you think they will be willing to pay you?
This is exactly what you are giving them permission to do when you opt in. Only one to blame for this is that handsome person inthe mirror

So it is somewhat comforting to know that

Anyone happenned to sell photos that were not reviewed? I understand that it is possible but still if the buyer has a choice of several photos he would rather license the one that is available straight away rather then requesting the one that hasn't been reviewed..
Wondering if I should continue to upload..
My understanding is that they are available straight awAy, at least mine are available right away in marketplace
