Hey Clair. I totally understand. I was doing stock in 1968 when a commission could be as Much as $1200.00 for "ONE" shot which in todays Money would be $3,000+ - I've written about it many times on Many forums going back years.
When this started the Only People affected were Old school working Pros. Microstock Killed their Livelihood.. I remember going to Hidden Meetings where Old timers were screaming at what was happening. I agreed with them. thats when It started. what I saw was a whole bunch Of people with No clue and I mean "No clue" about Photography Let alone "stock Photography" and 20 Cents a download from IS was about it. I didn't see a way to make money, What I saw is a way to sell Books and workshops which we did from Florida to Hawaii and beyond, 3 Best selling Books,3 weekends a Month for 3 Day studio Classes in LA from folks around the world. and One 4 day workshop a Month for 12 People and always sold out with My pardner and cousin David Smith we had a 9 Year run...... Everyone Of those People are gone!!!. and as a matter of fact this site was the first Place we advertised and we sold a lot Of books and Leif even did our artwork, I paid $25.00 for a banner ad for a few Months I think.. I Also did Lectures across America at Huge Camera Clubs....and sold More books. Our books were In a lot of the Largest Camera stores around America On the counters. If I had a 100,000 Images I wouldn't have done 1/2 the Business But worked a 100 times harder. smarter Not harder, My daddy used to say.
My old Pal....The best Microstocker ever wrote the forward In the first Book.Yuri Arcurs. Anyone remember Scott Rothstein,Andre Rodriquiz ,Jaimie Duplass,Lise Gagne,Tracy Siermachesky,Liv Friis-Larsen,Betsy Reid of the Stock Artists Alliance.Edyta Pawkiwska and Kelly Cline to Name a few.....These and Others were the Giants guys. It's Over. I can still Pickup $300/$400 a Month with 3 sites But, thats it and the way It's going .... I have No real Interest In submitting new anything or Joining any sites again.. Been there and done that.
Theres Gonna have to be some major attitude changes coming from the sites.I've helped make others a Lot of Money as we all Have. thats enough!!!!!!!!!!!! let them try it.
Does Kelly Cline and Lisa Gagne still shoot for istock? I was always envious of Kellys food shots.

In the end, it doesnt really matter what we all think. It was refused, for good reason. Most designers use Photoshop. If you provide an in-focus image, a designer can always apply blur filters to be creative. You limit your market when you shoot blurry. You would have a better chance at sales if you shoot landscapes in focus. And yes, there are instances where creative blur works, if done correctly.

IF you're willing to submit your clip to an agency with its' specific stated terms then stop your whining. You agreed to the terms. If you don't like the terms, remove your footage.
These weren't the terms we signed up for. Hey "stop your whining" guy, go away. We don't like you.
But now you know. so if you dont like the terms now, you can remove them. People always seem surprised when this happens.

I used to do food shots, which use a shallow depth of field, that would get those rejections. If you want to sell them there, you just have to keep resubmitting, like you did.

It sounds like they are going to hang on to contributors money as long as they can, and that means until you question it or complain about it.

I think its a dumb robot deciding. But you are right, it doesnt explain how some contributors can have multiple pages of almost identical images. I also think there is a bit of favoritism going on, i.e. approval of friends images. Who knows. And for me, it doesnt matter anymore. They allowed content to be stolen by not closing up holes in their platform. I closed my account a couple of months ago, but likely too late.

People, there are some illustrators among us, let them have an opportunity.
Exactly. I worked thru upwork when it was elance and it was great. Upwork ruined it. A lot of the jobs I got were redos because the client hired overseas people because they were dirt cheap, but they would disappear in the middle of a job, or just not do a good job. And then Upwork started rigging the system as far as who got the good jobs. I dont recommend using them. I did a few jobs thru guru, so they might still be ok. I hope someone here can help you!

They most likely will be dragging their feet on payments, especially now. I closed my account probably a year or more ago, and it took me months to get my final payment.

They don't let you change the country it's a rip-off, I'm trapped in a Dollar-account from the very beginning though I lived my whole life in Germany. But if I could change to Germany I would earn Euros and therefore they would have to pay me more this is the reason they don't let change you the country because they are afraid to loose some money.
Why did you set up a dollar account to begin with, if youve always lived in Germany? Why wouldnt you have changed it to euros in the beginning? Just curious.
2004 was no choice it was just Dollars therefore US!
Thanks for the answer, makes sense.

Not getting involved with moving accounts around to get the best deal...BUT it looks like I can at least get my original account re-instated or something...anyway, far too confusing to follow....but Support have re-enabled Photoshop so I can work, and given me some free months in case it takes a while to sort out the redemption code. Phew! A marathon but in the end may be ok, if a little odd about my country.... But overall... PHEW!!!
LOL so no answer why you set it up in dollars instead of euros to begin with?

But if everyone could change their country whenever they liked, people would be doing it for exactly the reason you state. The contributor would change it every time it meant they (the contributor) made more money. Why did you set up a dollar account to begin with, if youve always lived in Germany? Why wouldnt you have changed it to euros in the beginning? Just curious.

Senator Chuck Schumer explains, "The extended UI program in this agreement increases the maximum unemployment benefit by $600 per week and ensures that laid-off workers, on average, will receive their full pay for four months. It ensures that all workers are protected whether they work for businesses small, medium, or large, along with self-employed and workers in the gig economy." https://www.thebalancecareers.com/coronavirus-sick-leave-and-unemployment-benefits-4799770

Does anyone has any insight into the specific option to opt. out of images sales on SS altogether?
If ones does this does this happen right away or does it have to go through some type of process that takes a certain amount of time? I read on here in order to remove your archive from SS you have to wait a certain period of time? Is that true and if so how long?
If you opt out of images sales will your archive be taken off line immediately and not available to the clients to purchase or download?
Unfortunately I am weighing a few different option as some of the issues I have I have yet to be able resolve. Has anyone ever had luck in speaking with a human over there who will actually respond to real concerns and try to sort a solution?
I have opted out of image sales. I dont believe it happens immediately, I think they update their servers every so often and it gets changed then. As far as removing your images, you can do that anytime through the catalog manager. Again, if you delete an image, it isnt taken down immediately, but disappears with next server update. I just deleted all my images a couple of weeks ago. Never have spoken to a human there.

Both GIF and the peanut butter are pronounced "Jif."
Why didn't I think of this Subject before?
I never pronounced that way. It would start with a j if it were supposed to sound like jif. 😀

Enhanced Licenses allow customers to use your content in high-profile projects, such as film and television, incorporation into merchandise for sale, wall art for commercial spaces, and print runs over 500,000.
I get why we opt out from sensitive use, I did it too. But why opt out from Enhanced Licenses? What's wrong with those? Customers pay good money for those and let them use as they want. What is it I missed? It's not a rhetoric question, I really want to know.
IIRC it also had to do with the fact that they were paying peanuts for enhanced licenses.

I just finished deleting all my images a couple of weeks ago. Some of my model shots were family, and no way I would have wanted them used for sensitive use. Glad Im gone.

Started in 2004. Still have an active account at Adobe, but not actively uploading for the last 3 or 4 years. For the buyer, microstock is still alive. For the contributor, not so much. Some still do well, most do not.

My understanding is that paypal issues a 1099K for people who have 200 transactions "and" $20,000 in earnings. Keeping the transaction number below 200 should fix the problem.
Whew, what a relief! No worries for me in that regard.
Ditto.
