Is that the older chap who also has a music label and had around 550575 posts on the old Shutterstock forum?
Was wondering his whereabouts too.

January is the worst month of the year for me - going back to my first January in 2020.
So begs the question, how did January 2023 go for my combined portfolio earnings given I spent all 2022 uploading over 800 videos and (no more than) about 100 images for each site?
Well, I can only hope that January 2023 will (again) be my slowest month for this year...

Pond5 allows contributors to set prices though need to be exclusive to set price for 4k and HD individually.

For my four major sites thus far:
Leading the way this month is Adobe Stock - with the help of a decent video sale
Next is iStock - with earnings brought forward from December.
Then Pond5 - which is having a reasonably good month considering it's January.
Finally, in last place is Shutterstock.
And just like that, Shutterstock back in the lead again with a couple of good video sales.

Was just watching the youtube video linked below where for his total earnings in 2022 made $5114.90. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55OrbEIfXBMBut what piqued my curiosity was not his total earnings but the breakdown on different agencies: - Pond5: $72.54 - Adobe Stock: $97.30 - Livestock: $403.11 (First I've heard of this agency) - Artgrid: $4541.95 Has me thinking if Artgrid might be a place worth applying for and opening a new contributor account. Anyone have experience with Artgrid? Do they only provide earnings statements and payout once a year? Or can you see what you're selling and earning throughout the year?

Level 5 with 5113 video downloads...
If thats real, impressive.
I understand they're all (or vast majority) those 25 cent sales mentioned in another thread. Still is impressive and gets to the upper levels at lightning speed.

Not bad considering December and RPD of a little over $2 for photos and video combined which is higher than last month.

Just result. I've resubmitted a few times when I felt review results were not right and the uploads were accepted fine on resubmission.

Not one sale on Pond5 in 30 days here. Just 1 small video sale on Adobe and 7 on Shutter. January is by far my slowest month of the year typically with a poor RPD. ETA nothing like a little complaining to produce results (whoever said complaining achieves nothing?) So 3 downloads on Pond5 at $18 each for HD files. Not too shabby for a January sale. This incidentally puts my overall January 2023 ahead of January 2022 - noting January 2022 was my worst performing month of the year. Nonetheless, I am ahead of last year (to date) and it's only halfway through the month.

Strange (though it was only 10 cents so no big deal by any means) but one of my 10-cent sales just disappeared along with the sales count dropping by one. Anyone have this happen?
Check your adjustment tabs in your earning summary, the sale might have been refunded. Shutterstock is by now the agency with the most refunds per month for me.
Ah yes, there it was in adjustments. Thanks for the reminder. While I've occasionally had a peek in adjustments, I had never actually had one... until today.

The shutterstock portfolio looks like it has been removed. I tried a search for it through Google and it showed a contributor GoStock1 but the link to the port also turned up a 404 page.

January is typically my worst month of the year looking back over my data since 2020 (my first January). But this year is even worse, and that with much more content on the ports and it's not just Shutterstock. Shutterstock is actually ahead of the others.

Must be accounts created by idiots who watch Youtube videos "Make $3,000 an hour uploading others' photos. No experience needed!"

I remember two contributors who occasionally posted on Shutterstock forums who edited their outdoor scenic landscape landmark photos with spectacular skies and colours without them looking like overdone HDR and those guys were making plenty of good sales every month. Granted I recall one of them had a port of over 40,000 images. But that large photography portfolio combined with his post processing embellishments delivered very rewarding results, at least at that time.

Dear Stock Colleagues,
I've published a comprehensive review of my stock business in 2022, while providing a glimpse forward to 2023 with some realistic goals.

All the best and happy new year - Alex
Happy new year Alex and great reading your 2022 year end review. Given you like to travel and get drone video, have you considered going to Farol da Nazare beach and get aerial footage of the big waves (maybe with surfers) there? Doing a search on Shutterstock looks like there's quite a number of clips but for the keywords 'Farol da Nazare' there's only 21 clips. I don't know, if I lived in Portugal and the place was not too remote to get to and did a lot of traveling I'd probably be keen to get some aerial shots of this coastline.

My 2022 year end review in a single chart....
However you managed to do it: Respect!
Have you uploaded much?
I have lost about 1500 compared to the previous year 2021. Not good, but bearable.
Thanks Wilm , yes this reflects earnings for the four sites I upload to (Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Pond 5, iS/Getty) and the increase comes from basically significant port growth of primarily videos. For example, Shutterstock was 410 videos in November 2021. Today it is 1200 videos. That kind of relative increase in content (particularly with video clips) will almost certainly see corresponding increase in earnings. Btw still waiting to see my first sale of anything for 2023!

Yeah I had my best December though have only had for Decembers to date. Overall did pretty well considering the last week was almost dead for sales with only one decent commission on Shutterstock. I'm yet to make my first sale in 2023!

Imagine traveling some distance to view a home for sale or rent.
"Oh this looks nothing like the photos I saw online?"
"Of course not! Those photos were made from AI"
"Heh???"
"It's progress... Welcome to the Big Brave New World of Fakeness Bull Sh!t"
That would be fraud and mean that that real estate agent will never get a home offered to be sold again. And you dont need an ai to create lies with photos
Most people who I see complaining about ai have never used one.
It is a tool like photoshop and needs a lot of experience.
Which customer will waste his time playing around with various prompts until they get it right?
Much easier to just download a ready made file.
The advantage of ai is that it can make it a lot easier to create impossible things, i.e. images that would have taken a long time to create as composite of photos and illustrations.
If you go into the ai groups you will see that it is a very tiny percentage of people who create fantastic content. And they are usually professional 3d artists or professional illustrators.
But of course, if you are sure that ai destroys everything, then it would be prudent to get out of stock now and retrain into a new profession.
By the way all the business photographers I know are still extremely busy making money. But they simply know what they are doing. Even if they use a mobile phone, the quality they produces is lightyears better than what customers do themselves.
I am sure some artists will soon offer ai services as part of what they do. But they need to be able to create reliable results and at the moment that is still complicated.
But it will come.
It is your business, if for you it is all over, just leave and do something else. Others will see it as an intersting opportunity.
I do mainly aerial drone landmarks, landscapes and cityscapes video. So unless the AI boogeyman is coming to take over this market then I'm not going anywhere. And if AI does take over this and similar content then you've got way bigger problems to concern yourself with than me and others complaining on these forums.

So contributors are (not asked) just expected now to freely donate images and videos for the purpose of customers generating their own content which they can either use or go on and sell themselves?
If this is where it's heading I wonder how long the big contributors close their ports. Seems no use to create and upload for the benefit of everyone else except the contributor producing the content, often at cost. But then again, agencies seem to be getting their way with almost everything now and contributors aren't going anywhere.
Imagine traveling some distance to view a home for sale or rent.

I closed my Etsy shop because I was getting trolled via their messaging system by fake accounts. I knew they were fake because real buyers wouldn't ask the questions they were asking. In the end, it just wasn't worth all the hassles. Sick husband, my own health is not great at the moment (reactive hypoglycemia has flared up again), and dont need the stress.
Wishing everyone here a happy Christmas. Peace on earth to all xx
Annie, yes certainly don't need that stress when dealing with health. I wish you and your family a happy, peaceful and restful Christmas as well.
