Now there's a hypothesis as to why SS needs the extra money - they've agreed to take on the 36th floor of the Empire State Building (25,000 sq feet) in 2016!

Good more room for massage tables, pingpong tables, and a slide for the pool

Wow
Their commissions to video artists are just disgusting!
I hope they tank and dissappear, just as any outfit that so grossly devalues work

They are low earner, and almost all sales are subs - very rare to get nice size credit sales or heaven forbid an EL sales.
They are stagnant at best and contributers get tired of supporting sites that do not support contributers

I wish alamy were more successful in volume, but have to admit it is a nice to have bigger $ sales , it makes yoi feel your work is a little more valued.

I have seriously been thinking about just trying to get in on RM sites and dropping all micros except for SS for now. I know the sales volume would not be there, but getting more per dl would be good.

No reason whatsoever to feel bad
If someone theives work and sells as their own, they pay the consequence. Period. We all know the rules when we sign up
I wish all theives get their just desserts

I would noify SS Shelma

There is an interesting shift seem to be taking place with a lot of the more talented photogs migrating to rm sites.
Im sure that whatever content from these ones is on micros will stay there and they will collect the residual income, whatever keeps getting generated. However, the micros will only be getting whatever work these ones produce as being deemed 'mediocre', or no new work at all, depending on the author. So some time down the road micros will have an overabundance of sub-par to professional i,ages ratio.
It will be interesting to see how these dynamics play out.. But the glory days of microstock have past, probably for all parties concerned.

My advice :  RUN!!!

I see some witholding sales credits
But i recently filled out a Wben8 form and there should be a 0 witholding for images sold as per our countries treaties. Btw i got confirmation from FT of this form

So will these credits be reversed, or is this a glitch?

Thx Matt

I dont have very many images there, but never opted into the streaming thing - just a slap in the face for contributers
If they are sutomatically going to move content into this streaming service, I am pulling out altogether

Even the stupid little micros are crapping on contributers...

« on: December 25, 2015, 21:48 »
A few years ago iStock sent out Christmas cards. They arrived in April and were sent to the wrong contributors. They did a recall, and three months later managed to get the cards to the correct contributors, but people were concerned that they received only a smaller portion of the original card, and some people were calling for an audit.

Lol. I guess your daamned if you do and daamned if you dont.

Another BS mind fk knowing that nearly no downloads happen on Christmas Day.

I think you nailed this on the head
For the few that are lucky enough to have a sale or two today - for the 99.7 percent of others its a day like any other at DT

whats wrong with a company looking after their employees?

What's wrong with a company looking after their contributors, the ones who make the company AND the employees possible?

Ding..ding..ding.... johnny! Tell her what she wins!!

The one thing i have to really give props to SS to, is they never have clawbacks for this kind of stuff - even though they probably have to deal with their share of fraudulent purchases, the contributers never get shafted.

With Dp -This kind of thing, how can you know if their telling the truth or not?
Esp when they have already been caught doing underhanded things to contributers in the past.

I will never upload any clips to this agency, until they earn the trust and respect due to contributers - and that looks like a looooooong road ahead

They have cut back on unecessary expenditures to make sure that the funds go toward essentials like maintaining the cappucino machine, and having masseuses on call

473
I wonder what their corporate offices look like when the site goes down? I imagine sirens, flashing red lights and people running around manning the battle stations. I would guess there are very few people in the NY office right now, though.

They may be playing ping pong or sipping on their moccha frappachinos

474
Or they could be increasing the value of their premium service. The more junk there is to wade through the more sense it will make for buyers to pay the extra for help searching. We could even see the search engine get worse so they can keep the best algorithm for their own premium team.

Speaking of junk to wade through, SS isn't the only one with problems. There is 7+ pages of this. My search was for green and blue arrows.  ::)

That is utterly pathetic
