Good is that "Convert" button is visible on dashboard.
Bad is that I won't need it that often thanks to changes in prices.

I'm new to Yay so I may not understand something. I have to admit that this system is little bit weird to me. I can understand that you won't send us money unless Yay is paid by their partners. But I would really appreciate if I can see exact amount that I have made instead of "api sale" info. All I know is that I will receive 50% of something but as it is very difficult to find out what size was downloaded - in fact I know nothing. So waiting for reports looks little bit like a waiting for lottery draw.

Ok, let's stop crying and let's give to Fotolia our continued support in our collective quest to become the #1 stock photo agency in the world!   :-\

It's great especially for vectors artists - 0.29 instead of 1.08 for me.
On the other hand - it's true that other sites don't make difference between photos and vectors in subscription prices as well but that doesn't reduce my shock.

Their email didn't make me happy at all. I am their contributor and they have many of my images. They have sent me this email probably to let me know that others will get some money for uploading, but not me and the contributors that will join DP later than me will get higher positions in search results. If I understand it well - these advantages cannot be applied to current contributors - or did I miss something?
In fact I feel like deleting my content more than uploading the rest of my images.

Me too. It must be a real crisis when I'm considered to be high volume photographer.

Yes. And you have chance that rejected "overly simple vectors" are available at least as jpgs.
And don't forget to exclude keyword "vector" from jpg version of image, otherwise your image is usually rejected.

With relation to the upload process on GR that cidepix mentioned, I have to say, I agree it is pretty poor! I didn't realize how poor until we worked on the PhotoDune project. But our PD upload is much smoother (and getting better as we do more live testing) and one of our next projects is to port that same upload out to GraphicRiver. So hopefully it'll be better soon cidepix!!

Good news. Some time ago I wanted to join GR but after reading upload instructions I had to change my mind. It would take a minimum of one hour to understand how to upload and weeks and months for to that.

As for me - vectors make about 90% of sales, jpg versions 10%. I upload jpgs because I have to create hi-res preview for other sites anyway.

Hello Johnnie,

I would like to ask if there is any way how to get IPTC data from vector files. You don't want JPG previews and IPTC data from EPS files are ignored by your system. I don't want to copy keywords for the rest of my life.  :)

Thanks.

Of course the OP did NOT tell us here that some photos were shot by two people on the same camera on a tripod. That would have changed things dramatically.

He did say in this in the first post.
"Is it wrong if we share the same model ? equipment ? studio and settings?"

He did. But he didn't say that they change behind camera every two seconds.

I really don't like that previews are so big (especially portrait format) - it wouldn't be a problem but on some images the watermark is almost or totally invisible.

For example:

For me it's not that important if the images were taken by you or by you and your wife. They are very similar, some almost identical and they are sold from two accounts. Moreover - on dreamstime that started their fight against similars.
It's great to discuss arrogance of big sites but in this case - I'm sorry - DT is absolutely right.
All you can do is to hope that only one of your accounts can be deleted.

edit: I didn't read previous Serban's post - I think that deleting of one of your accoutns is more than fair.

the EL price seem a little low.. very low actually.. perhaps they will raise it, they seem very nice to talk by email..

the true is that sales do happen there, I will use leaf again hope it wont be upset, last night had 119 sales today on 124  ;)

...but look at weekly top sellers - best image has 7 sales a week. Really not much. And it may change to 2 sales a week when more contributors come. But I know it's too soon to judge.

I'm afraid that the decision if to upload or not starts for many contributors with question "Is Yuri there?". And if he is, then it has to be good decision.

I wouldn't say msg is getting naive, it's realistic and that's why it may be boring a monothematic.
When I want to read something really naive, I click on Dreamstime Blogs link on Picniche panel.

People put photos of flowers, sunsets, their dog, their cat, their horse, their car, their motorcycle, and on and on, for their profile picture. Does that mean they are saying any of those are self-portraits? I once declined the friendship request of someone who had a dog's a-hole as their profile picture. I don't think there's any rule on FB that says your profile photo has to be of YOU. Unless the person puts a caption on the photo that says "This is me" I don't think you can claim unfair usage.

I didn't mean someone who has Michael Jackson as his profile photo. The problem is that fake profiles are usually used to make as many "friends" as possible, write to them couple words, then creating groups and inserting links and driving traffic to own website (usually "funny" photos or videos, porn sites...) Yes, I think that it is immoral to add someone to friends list or write to teens pretending I'm twenty years old sexy blond but being fifty years old hairy guy. This is the reason why Facebook often closes profiles with xxxx friends because they are supposed to be a fake. You should use "artist page" or something like that but not personal profile if you want to make thousands of friends.

495
On the other hand, for example SS says:
YOU MAY NOT:
Use an Image together with pornographic, defamatory, or otherwise unlawful or immoral content or in such a manner that it infringes upon any third party's trademark or intellectual property.

Fake profiles on Facebook may not be unlawful but they are definitely immoral.
Any jore immoral than putting a stock photo of a girl with lovely hair on a shampoo ad claiming (or even implying) that the hair is shiny because of the product? Etc etc etc.

OK. It may not be immoral but forbidden :-)
"You will not provide any false personal information on Facebook, or create an account for anyone other than yourself without permission."

496
....If you repeatedly infringe other people's intellectual property rights, we will disable your account when appropriate....

For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos and videos (IP content), you specifically give us the following permission, subject to your privacy and application settings: you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook (IP License). This IP License ends when you delete your IP content or your account unless your content has been shared with others, and they have not deleted it.

If I understand it right, no buyer should put images on Facebook as he cannot grant the licence.

General Stock Discussion / Re: July 2011 Earnings
« on: August 01, 2011, 13:34 »
It's hard to believe but July is +20% compared to June - thanks to SS that makes more that 50% of my earnings -  I think that end of nondiscoverable new images issue on SS has helped a lot.

Shutterstock  52%  (+45% compared to June)
Fotolia   10%     (-30%)
Zazzle 10%       (-30%)
123rf  9%     (+15%)
Dreamstime    6%       (+25%)
Veer  5%   (+900%)  (Multi-user license made a difference and June was terrible)
CanStockPhoto    2.5%  (+45%)
Deposit   2%  (+50%)

BigStock    0.1% (no comment)  ???

Some reviewers think that more complicated means better.
Fortunately it is vector. So best way how to get simple vector approved is to add illustration of chequered raccoon with wooden legs that dances pogo and has parrot and rat smoking pipe on his shoulder. And buyer can remove it.

General Stock Discussion / Re: PantherMedia review time?
« on: July 28, 2011, 14:07 »
One month is usual review time. But they approve images one by one - so almost every day I find some of my images get approved. Unlike Veer - they don't approve anything four or five weeks.
