iStockPhoto.com / Re: How does Advertising Work?

Wow, week ago I found my shot in the advert. I don't think it was an accidental thing. But my parents were very very excited :-)

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Sales have tanked big time

The answer is very simple - customers have a price sliders. And a choice of course - after all these troubles with overpriced flood (we call it 'sheet').

"some very old credits floating about from 2004" <- official statement made by kelvinjay, which makes the issue 7-yo, and this silly explanation about %% off.
I guess someone from the management (do they have a management?) will kill the thread. It is to risky to inform contributors about (un)official discounts.

And, I really like this one: "there are several reasons why you may be paid less". What, rains in Scotland?

10000   $10,000.00   $1.00
20000   $19,000.00   $0.95
30000   $28,500.00   $0.95

Could you be more specific, please?

Hi,

Last week I noticed that a number of my sales is valued much below the credit's price. OK, I can understand that bigger customers can get 20-30% off the credits' price. But finally I found 2 sales where 1 credit was valued below $.5... Not big deals, but tried to 'clarify' the situation.
What I have learnt: No response from the Customer Service - after a week my ticket is still open, no clear message from the Service via phone, topic moved from the forum to 'help' section.

What's going on?
Who can check their policies and prove that this missing part from my/our royalties is really a discount for the customer? If these bonuses are a 'science-fiction' what is the next step? I signed contributors agreement but did not agree to be robbed and cheated.

Ok, my accountant said that '>Stats>Payment History' should be more than single lines in the 'screenshot'. iStock gives me 'so-called' full payout receipts, acceptable in accounts... So, is that all in the SS contributor's area?
#57
The tax forum in SS seems to be dead...
I would like to print out my payout receipts for my last financial year but I can't find them in SS contributor's panel.
Is it possible to find them anywhere?

True!  a genuine whisky on the rocks is with cold pebbles or something, old Scotish fly-fishermen standing in cold icey rivers used to drink it that way. there is a small private Pub, way up in the highlands, still serving it that way.

...postcode/address please...?

My tips: Bowmore 21yo, Talisker any-yo, Glenmorangie Signet no-yo. Single malts.

Hello xxx,

Thank you for contacting us.
Yes, we will look into this. We have received many requests for this lately
since the new Google tool came out so we are unable to answer the requests
as quickly.

Kind Regards,

Started the setup and... ZONK...
Norton gave me this message:
"A program was behaving suspiciously on your computer. This program was blocked and removed.
The file risk is high."
Anyone's using this software?

I've never done a resubmit.  It doesn't make the folks at Shutterstock angry?

No :-)

To me there is a pretty decent set of political figures and celebrities including some notable examples that aren't in other collections.

But in fact I cannot send all my images with celebrities/famous people which 'aren't in other collections.'

No. A year ago - about 20% accepted. Now more than 60%.

Luminance is set to 0, Color is set to 25 and Color detail is set to 50

... then move luminance to 35, import to PS and check results. Do you see a difference?

Pav

Hi,

In camera raw processing module in PS find section responsible for noise reduction (section 'Detail', under sharpening). There are 2 sliders - one for colour, second for luminance. As far as I remember luminance is always 0 by default, so - on 100% view - change to 30-35 and check results. In your case - you can start with colour's slider and then apply luminance, slightly less.

If you buy separate fonts, there should be a text file attached to the compressed archive with all legal blablablas.

According to Windows EULA - you can use all system fonts in your publications.
Fonts under GNU/GPL licences can be used in your design.

But the thing is - if you buy fonts, the purpose to do this is to use them in commercial designs :-)

Also I would recommend Lightroom - as an image library with great processing section (for RAW files).
If you have clean pictures (no dust on the sensor, relatively clean lenses) in RAW format, of course - you can collect, process and keyword them in one location, which is very, very handy.
tv.adobe.com/product/lightroom/ <- this is link to the selection of videos 'by Adobe' and this shoud give you idea what is this software for.

Good luck W.

There is a difference between:
'sorry, good luck' - and f^&* you with all your money
or 'sorry, good luck' - that was our fault.

It is not big deal, really. In my experience - working for a few agencies shooting fashion on mannequins and accessories (boring stuff) - after a month I can afford a basic pro camera with macro lens.

Maybe Lobo was in a toilet and some 'cheap substitute' did the final comment... Hopefully...

iStockPhoto.com / Random rejections?
May 24, 2011, 11:03
Hi,

I noticed today, that IS rejected a few images from my last batch. Not too many, but - interesting thing - they were accepted almost everywhere - SS, FT, BS, DT, etc... Is this only my impression or inspectors use 'reject random' button too often?

Pav
#74
Check the starting IS's page, there is no EX/Vetta button (attached to all prices) but a simple Photo+ tab. Does it mean anything?

I guess the IS's idea is/was to create some kind of 'visual supermarket'. The thing is - you don't go to the butcher to find sofas...
This intensive and loud PR is nothing more than just loud noise publicity, in my opinion. On the way we could forget about principles (%s, so many fails, escaping clients, trust, etc.) which is good for them at some point.
Build trust again? No chance, won't recommend them, I sent my wife's projects to SS.
