And now for something completely different.
Payment from SS that is supposed to be paid by 15th has already appeared on my PayPal account.
These little differences...

Just as I was reading this post, my iPhone beeps and Paypal lets me know that I have received a payment from Shutterstock Images C.V.  :)

123RF / Re: Uploading not working???
« on: June 21, 2013, 08:37 »
Hi all,

FYI

I just uploaded to 123rf and it seems to work this morning.  I am no longer getting the message "We regret to inform that we will disable queueing of files to process until further notice."

The files uploaded and read as "File currently pending processing".  Note: I used the web uploader and not the ftp.

Cheers,

Daily and monthly would be nice.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: istock update for non-exclusives

Being relatively new to MSG I'm curious, do iStock staff ever come to MSG to explain/clarify certain items of interest?

Many other MS sites staff come along from time to time to explain things and answer questions.  If someone from iStock would stop in to answer questions, it would go a long way with people.

Too much to ask?

I'd be interested.  Thanks for the offer.

I have a small portfolio on SS and I have sold a few Enhanced Licenses (EL) so far.  When I sold my first EL, the file in question had a few downloads, but nothing spectacular.  After it sold as an EL, the downloads for that file increased dramatically.  The file has become one of my most consistent sellers.

I recently sold another file as an EL.  And just like last time, this was a file that had a few downloads.  Will I see a significant increase in downloads for that file now?  Perhaps selling an EL increases that file's search ranking on SS?

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Jean

New Sites - General / Stockami contributor update - March 2013
« on: February 26, 2013, 11:55 »
Just got this email from Stockami....

I was curious, has anyone had good experiences with them?  I started uploading a bit of files, but haven't really given them a chance yet.

80 percent royalties during March 2013
We are delighted to announce that during March 2013 we'll be offering 80 percent royalties to all of our valued contributors. That's double our previous rate and includes extended license sales too. Don't forget to spread the word so you can help us to help you get the maximum benefit from the bonus rate and we'll aim to do this on a regular basis in the future.  find out more

New permanent royalty rate coming soon
The good news doesn't end there. Towards the end of March we will announce our new, higher and permanent royalty rate.

Categories - with a difference
A few weeks ago we added categories to the site but with one very important difference. Categorisation is completely handled by us! We still have a number of files that still need processing but so far the system seems to be working well and we intend to improve and develop it over time.

EPS vector detection
If you do submit vector illustrations you may have noticed that we have implemented software to detect and display the correct EPS vector version. This means your customers know exactly what they're getting and the upload process continues to be free of unnecessary check boxes as part of our "keep it simple" commitment.

DepositPhotos / Re: Newbie at a disadvantage....

sorry Teresa but DP being top seller for you doesn't mean much, you have 4 sales

Are you suggesting I shouldn't bother posting in the threads because I'm a newbie?

I'm a newbie myself and I would say post your thoughts, etc.  However, understand that as newbies we have: a) small portfolios, b) limited sales, c) been 'live' on sites for a short amount of time, or d) a combination of all of these.

What that means is that our numbers (both DL and $$) are not statistically significant for discussion.  Meaning that it's too difficult to draw any conclusions or trends from what we see.

I use this forum to learn from the more experienced people and for industry trends.  Until our portfolio, sales and time on-line become significant/relevant, I would limit comparing ourselves to people who have been at this for many years and have experienced trends worth noting.

Newbie Discussion / Re: New to the group

Hello and welcome.

Shoot, upload, repeat is old but good advice :) I took a quick look at your SS portfolio. I liked the Canada with sparklers shot - you could branch out with a few other messages perhaps. You have a pretty young woman in the set you labelled Fashion - I'd suggest doing more shots with her but doing something (versus just posing and looking) and dressed in a more businesslike way. Those shots will sell much better I think.

Thanks!
The Canada picture you mention is my best seller on SS both in terms of downloads and cash.  I have also sold some ELs for it too.

The shots of the young woman (her name is Laurence) was done a photography meetup and was not a MS shoot, hence why it does not have a certain theme.   But it has received a few sales nonetheless.

I will keep plugging away.

Newbie Discussion / New to the group
« on: January 31, 2013, 10:33 »
Hi,

Just wanted to introduce myself to the group.  Name is Jean and I am from Ottawa, Canada.  I've been doing stock photography as a hobby since the summer of 2012.

I have uploaded to all the top and middle tier sites as well as a number of low earner sites.  I'm working on adding more to my portfolio, but more importantly, trying to improve the quality of my shots.  So far I've had good results with SS and sales everywhere else, but not to the extent of SS.

I have stopped in to this forum as few times as a guest, but have signed up recently.  Any advice or thoughts, etc from the vets would be appreciated!

Cheers,

Jean

Version 1.4 is now available in App Store, new agencies available Veer and Pond5

New version works well for me (iPhone 4, running iOs 6.0.1)

Thanks for adding the new agencies (Veer & Pond5).  Has any thought been given to adding POD sites (i.e., Zazzle)?
