Pond is not a concept it's a Noun.
Obviously. Pond wasn't meant to be a concept. Pond was just an obvious word in the title and keyword that someone would type to find dragonflies. The title that was rejected stated something like "Golden ringed Dragonfly basking in the sun after feeding near a pond. Scientific name (Latin name). It was rejected for the scientific name and keyword pond, life. Pond insects. Flying pond bugs all find dragonflies in the search bar. But I wasn't allowed Pond because there was no pond. It was a stupid refusal. I won't debate that any longer because it is patently obviously a pond related subject. Or stream either is correct.
I believe I did point out various examples of this rigidity being lame. I stated that we could no longer have conceptual titles because a photo titled meditation would now have to become "woman sitting oddly alone in room. But we cant have room because only one wall can be seen. Prisoner becomes "young man sitting on generic bed against a wall wearing grey overalls. No prison visible.
I guess it comes down to how badly do adobe want their photos to be found. Not very in that case. And I'm a native speaker of English. So to throw these subjective obstacles in the way is tiresome. It was removed on my behalf and then published. Well I say refused it was placed in a limbo state until I corrected mistakes. After 3 goes I couldn't work out why which is why I asked for help and the explanation given that title must be in English not foriegn languages (Latin is the only name for some insects but whatever) that I can only title what is visible which makes conceptual ideas risky and that future repeated instances of rule breaking like this could result in 'keyword spamming' and closure of account.

Obviously you are wrong. I find many images with Latin names in title and many with concept words that you claim they don't allow. You are wrong or lying.

I followed your link and many more have Latin names titles. You're right, that is allowed. Anyone who says it's not is obviously wrong and spreading misinformation.

Changed algorithm means changed, not better for everyone or worse for everyone. Some images are moved further back, some are brought to the fore. That's what definitely happened. My sales are about the same as before, but there was a shift in WHAT sells. Some older best sellers were brought back from the dead and some other best sellers were disfavored. I had regularly checked the results for at least one very major keyword and I see different results on the first three pages since April, I mean all results, not just my own.
Also you can notice any algorithm changes if you go to your own portfolio and search for a keyword within it. The order that you see there is exactly how they appear in the main site's search. For example let's say you search for "flower" in your port and see image x at the top and then image y. Then you go to the main site and search for flower. Image x will be the first of your own images that you will find and image y will be the second, and so on. That's a fact, it was 100% and steadily confirmed for me, without any exceptions. Now if the algorithm changes, the sorting of your own images will suddenly be all over the place, and that's what happened.
Ah, so you are saying, someone shuffled the deck and dealt our new image ranks, in a different order. Interesting.
So that whole thing in the multiple webinars and files, and advice, about the rank being set in the first 30 days, isn't true anymore?
But being seen can change, I see you posted a quote. Rank is the same but page and search can be different. I think I'll buy in for seasonal or trending.

My question wasn't whether there could be an article written in which a generic house could appropriately illustrate it. My question was about what it was specific to those exact houses that would inspire editorial use about those particular houses?
I am afraid I do not understand the question then. You could ask the same about every single image in Adobe's database.
I could ask the same about the 16 million hits with the keyword "house" you mentioned. What is specific to those exact 16 million that would inspire editorial use about those particular houses any more than Contemporary Dave's house image? For an editorial piece a customer can use a commercial image just the same as an editorial one, so why not give him the choice?
I simply do not understand the choice and still don't understand why some images are rejected. The house issue, regardless of whether I don't understand why it can't be an editorial, could simply be solved by submitting it as commercial, but in my cases my rejected images can't. I had images of, for example , a BASF factory building complex rejected. And now, if someone wants to write an article about BASF he would want a photo of a BASF factory with the BASF logo right there and not some generic factory. So, why aren't imges like this accepted as editorial? Isn't this specific enough?
Every photo could illustrate something. Do you understand this? At Adobe Stock, we define illustrative editorial as conceptual imagery designed to illustrate articles on current events and newsworthy topics. This type of content often features images of real brands and products like signs on buildings, soda cans, computers, and cars to convey a story. That's what Adobe says what they define IEC. Current events, newsworthy, conceptual, convey a story, not because you can't submit it as commercial.

That wasn't a house project but you two can go on in your imaginary dream make up world. The answer was on SS forums unless you are banned there. Eighth-Wonder is not a in-house contributor test account.
Most people especially those who are busy shooting, uploading and making money didn't waste time on Shutterstock forum btw. I posted there for very short time for a few months before I stopped wasting my time engaging with majority trash talkers.

For those who can't remember and claimed on the SS forum, he doesn't have 10,000 images, they are right. "11,026 stock photos, vectors, and illustrations are available royalty-free." it's 11K
11K unique photos? I mean if I have 11K images of the same subject, so technically I have 1 image.

So what if you earn more at P5 and Adobe? Maybe he earns more at P5 and Adobe as well? Maybe he earns just as much, if not more, than you at P5 and Adobe so he can dine at your fancy restaurant too... but he also has his cheeseburger to come home to if the fancy portions didn't quite fill the gap.
I see you're offended. If some clips is sold SS it probably wont on Pond5, right? So I sell on the P5 for $ 30 and you on the SS for $ 0.25. That is $29,75 in difference. I see that your knowledge of mathematics is really poor. No big deal, just eat a cheeseburger.
Clips don't all sell for $ 30 on Pond5 and clips don't all sell for $ 0.25 on SS your argument is false from the start.

They are in fact our appointed agent! they use our assets in order to make money! when SS declares they have 200 million assets ( images), they don't really since these 200 million assets are our assets our pictures.
Had SS been an old style stock-agency our pics would have been in the form of trannies something you could physically touch and therefore a signed agency-contract and everything. Its not though its all digital and can be wiped out in seconds!..SS is playing on this one all the way and treat us like complete noobs!

Hi,
I am deleting my images on Shutterstock one by one. You probably know why ....
When checking it the next day, I still find many of those images that obviously have not been deleted. They are offered by shutterstock as "Get these images for FREE. Download this image now with a free trial."
How is this possible? Does anyone know how I can get these images deleted permanently?
Your help would be greatly apprechiated.
Might take 90 days to delete, in the contract you agreed to.

Did you ever try less words to see if your sales would be even better, as an A/B test?
Since there is no way to really have a true dependent variable, there is no way to accurately test this. I could post the same pic on different sites, but even with the exact key words, the sales are different. And I could post a slightly different composition, but again, with the same key words, one might sell better than the other based on the needs of the customer and the random algorithms of the site.
In the set I mentioned, some of the shots are older. And some of them don't have 50 words. I checked one shot that was more popular back in the day and it only has 24. But a photo that is only slightly older has 44 keywords and it sold better. The most popular one in the set is newer and has 50 keywords.
I think the most important factor is the photo itself. If it's a photo people want, they'll buy it. However you want to keyword your photos is up to you. I'm sticking with what is working for me.

I've never owned a camera with 2 card slots and have never had a card fail. But I do understand cards have failed for some people. I think a lot of photographers carry two cameras. Mostly to safe guard the main camera failing during a job.
Yes I understand the fear of not getting anything after a shoot, because the card fails on the last shot or when removing. However slim, I suppose people who have dual slot cameras should use that. I don't have that and I'm OK. That doesn't mean that someday I won't loose hours of work, that can't be recovered.
Yes I have forgotten to back up a card and formatted it. Then when I got home looked for that session. Oops. Card recovery is like disk recovery, works when you haven't shot anything over the data. Formatting is nothing but re-writing the TOC that the card/hard drive uses to know where and what the files are. Easy recovery.
Absolutely, and I don't understand people who have 2 slots and not use it. Kinda "I like to live dangerously" haha!
2 slots are not just protection against defective cards, but also against human error, like what you said about forgetting to backup.
I sometimes take out 1 card to show images on my laptop, and after that, we decide to shoot a few more images. Then I just pick up my camera and start shooting, and I forget all about the card in the laptop. Easy!
Camera setting for do not allow to shoot without card. 1 card slot, backup often.

As the OP says he didn't read all the details, I'll just say that Alamy sales prices are quoted gross, as we've had a number of other people who haven't realised that then been disappointed down the line. If you already know that, that's good.

rejections are not a problems..the problems is the collapsing of sale over 38 cent...rpd is collapsing...i don't care if they reject something....all in all most new content don'tsell at all because nobody is so idiot to search for new files...make any search first with new then with relevant...who in the world would mess looking for a usable file using the new tabs?...the problem is 99 % of sale are sub. and not only here in general...i'm up 35 % sale in all agency down 200 % in terms of dollar so far...i need 10 times more images sold than last year to match the dollar. time to ficus n rm for agency like westend and offset...microstock is collapsing.

UNBELIEVABLE, I was not conscient about all the crap coming in. Nothing surprising that recent stuff, even if the best keeps unseen and unsold, buyers don't come through all these snapshots to find professionnal photo... How serious contributors can feel proud by participating on such a platform? personnaly, I feel ashamed to put my best pictures there.
But, I am sure that one day things will change, and they will have to clean up the base.

It's nice, but it would be even nicer, it there was like two rows with last five images sold on top of the dashboard ( not by dowwnloads, like now), and statistics graphat the bottom if it really must be there.
And then somebody will complain that they liked one column, graphic on top and 10 past sales. What I'd like most and I think will help the most of us is search in our own photos for edit, by keywords not only date or downloads. Important useful not look of a page.

Trump is rude as well!! but Acosta is not great at his job! CNN should have replaced him long ago. People need to be civil and kind to one another and Trump is just as bad. We all need to look at the election map and see a sea of red with some blue pockets in the cities and realize that we all need to get along. Trump is not my idol or hero by any means, man needs to grow up but on some of his policies I do agree, not all but some.

I have all in all spent over 35 grand on all kinds of video equipment and thats apart from the Black-Magic recorder itself, the only one thing that pay are production companies NOT any Micro and NOT Getty or any other stock-agency!...the all get peanuts and cents!....now if you can work your way into various large Prod-companies then its worth it but for stock-agencies, forget it!!
although a Gimble is of course worth it for yourself so buy it! it does help a lot!

Why do you come to a micro site to tell us how good you are other places, and how terrible micro is. Then complain about caps and searches on micro, how terrible your earnings are. Don't you have your secret forum to make fun of us. Doesn't make sense.
