Where is our fearless low royalty crusader?

504
+1 thanks  JoAnn for clarifying that for us all

Now we can stop seeing this being brought up ad nauseum on every single thread mentioning SS

The red carpet program on SS has been given the kibosh

For all intents and purposes, it was pretty useless anyways.

New Sites - General / Re: Artbeats - The new low
« on: August 25, 2015, 15:02 »
They can't sell your work for that price if you don't enable them to. It's simple, just don't place your work there. I could say the same for several sites. Contributors need to stop blaming various sites. They need to place a value on their own work and work with sites that support that worth.

Totally agree

We are in control of what happens
We have to care more about the value of oir work as opposed to just accepting whatever value these agencies decide to put on it

This is how "scandalous" Canadian politics get...LOL

$0.25. Means subscription sale

They also have odd which is an image bought on demand and that is what the $1.88 is for

Here is a link for you

Alamy.com / Re: Sudden jump in CTR?!
« on: August 07, 2015, 13:43 »
Had a big jump last month - just attribute it to higher than usual zooms

I usually like to check what was zoomed - last month one of the zooms done was for a search that was conducted via the Alamy image code. I thought that would result in a definite sale, but no sales showed up. This morning the sale showed up for that image.

Zooms are good in the fact that someone took a second look at your images, but only sales really matter, and for me they are few and far between.

Yoohoo...Aaron... Come back and answer the questions

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock Approval Frustrations
« on: July 21, 2015, 20:46 »
the review process at SS has been in a shambles for awhile now

just about every photographer - pro to amateur- has had to deal with inconsistent and downright frustrating reviews

SS has remained silent and it lookslike things will go on as status quo for the foreseeable future - but hey ho! they just spent time and resources to fix up the forums!!

518
How long is a piece of string?

Twice the distance from the center. :)

Brilliant

519
Nevermind the broken review system - they just upgraded their forums!!!!
YAY!!!

wow. Very nice video of the falls

Did you need a permit to do that?
Your brave flying the drone over the falls

Well done

I think SS policy is to pay out by the 15th for the previous months earnings

They usually payout by the 7th or so very consistently, so prior to that they have to process the payout

You probably missed the period where they process the payout thus pushing you into the next months payout schedule

522
50% of the sale price

I would rather see them spend time and effort to fix the broken review system they have

524
In SS, my port size is up by 40% compared to last year's June. And my income is down by 25% compared to last years June. July is even worse.

It seems like I have already hit the wall. Keep uploading doesn't help me at all. I'm thinking of stop uploading for sometime and see what will happen. Do you think that the income will drop down rapidly?

My guess is that it would flatline for a bit and slowly start to decend
New i ages dont seem to help, they may get a few sales but unless you have some that sell almost everyday, hey quickly get buried

What  other business model sells a product that you dont have to pay for or secure up front?
This practice can make fraud and pilfering a whole lot easier to achieve.

I generally like Alamy, but these practices are very business unfriendly - for us and Alamy.
