Any opinion on whether it is better to use .MP4 or. MOV as a video file container format?
Everything I found online says they are about the same. MOV was developed by Apple way back and MP4 was developed later as a more general standard.

I suspect the quality of the reviews reflects what reviewers are being payed for their efforts.

One Pond5 curated collection description says:
4K "That sure it s [sic] a lot of pixels... four thousand of them, to be exact. "
Apart from being far from exact, last time I checked 4K was more than 8 million pixels, but apparently Pond5 experts know best.
This looks to be the new expert who they hired in January who has an extensive background in all things media and lectured us during the town hall, bet he knows https://www.linkedin.com/in/kunalmody and https://angel.co/kunal-mody
Seriously, it's really looking like they don't know or care anything about video let alone specs and stuff, the town hall was more of a pitch deck for investors looking to acquire the company.
I've emailed them a couple of follow up questions on the town hall and NOT ONE was answered, 2nd email was responded to by support and they again didn't respond to the questions but instead inserted a link to their contributor portal.
If you read their forums it appears almost no one is getting sales there anymore, it now really looks like they are gearing the marketplace down exactly like Storyblocks did and come the next town hall they will probably announce the end of the marketplace and that they will be going with the collections and subscription model.
The company has clearly changed direction, that is obvious.
Question is where have their sales gone?...to other vendors or are video sales dropping due to oversupply?

Finally got round to working up and publishing my September results and the 3Q of 2019. Overall the month was pretty good with almost $3000 in sales, but the historical trend does not look great...
Out of curiosity, why do you say the historical trend does not look great....your graph seems to have a definite upward trend?

My suggestion to them is: Get sales up!!

.....and to lift the restriction on unreleased people!...but I am not complaining.

The non-stop flood does in a way surprise me. Most images won't sell. You would think at some point word would get around and the sentiment might be: "don't bother" regarding uploading for the casual photog.

I often wonder who the new people are coming to iStock and how they decide to become exclusive given it is a much more murky decision than it was years ago.

Are they truly "computer generated" if they were trained on real faces? My camera could be looked at as a computer that "computer generates" a face when I point it at someone and press the shutter button.

Well, Adobe and Pond always read it in, which is probably why I was thinking SS did too. Ech. Extra carpal tunnel.
Read it in from what? What tool and video format do you use?

Yes, sounds like things are going well! Looking forward to when Editorial will be expanded to allow incidental unreleased people.

So P5 wants people to sell their HD clips for $79, but they are selling these for $300?

Has anyone had any experience selling on Newsflare?

Wow, amazing insights. Especially to sb who sold excactly one clip so far Thanks a lot for sharing!
EDIT: I was wondering if you have any idea where your footage is being used? Like actual examples of commercials or other kinds of productions...? I'm so unsuccesful with this whole stock footage thing, I feel I need to see stock footage "in practice" to understand it better Having hard times to find commercials where stock footage has been put to use. There is a "What People Are Saying" video series on Pond5 with credentials of two buyers but that doesn't really help.
((Btw: This edit is made with the permission of Brazilnut. Messaged him before I wrote this, don't wanna hijack his thread))
EDIT2: Oh my. https://castlewoodstudios.com/professionally-produced-videos/commercials-with-stock-footage/ There must be better examples.
I'm believe this ad uses some stock clips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6acc4y4MFdU

This is a great beginning! Any feel for when we can expect it will be opened up to photos with non-released people in them?

So they cut royalty rates on video and sound files.

There seem to be 2 FAQs with different dates:-
https://helpx.adobe.com/lt/stock/contributor/help/creative-cloud-giveaway-FAQ.html Says "You have until July 31, 2021 to redeem the code."
Whereas this:- https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/creative-cloud-bonus-FAQ.html says "The code will remain valid 12 months from the date it is issued to you. "
The latter is the one linked in the email that sent the code.
Okay, now I am confused. The FAQ for the first program ($500 in sales...) says expiration date: 7/31/2021. The FAQ for the latest program says expiration date is one year from issuance of code. So for the first (>$500 sales) program, it would seem that 7/31/2021 is the expiration date. Mat, can we get a clarification on this? Specfically, what is the expiration date for folks that qualified for the original (>$500 sales) program? Thanks

I thought last years codes had no expiry? You could use one after the other if you had both?
Edit:- Scrap that. I found the FAQ. 12 months. Glad i saw that, im using the LR one and the all apps expires Sept1 so i need to use it before then.
Where is that FAQ, because my understanding was that the one I received expires in July 2021?

H264 is much more common but less efficient than the newer H265. Check the submission requirements of the sites you are interested in uploading to and make a decision.

Good news, but disappointing at the same time. Why only illustrative editorial?
Also, >25000 downloads is asking an awful lot for folks that weren't around in the heyday of microstock when there were a lot more downloads.
"We will expand this access in the future. For now, if you are not ranked at Emerald or above though you feel you have a strong Illustrative Editorial collection already established you may write to us for consideration via the contact us link at the bottom of the contributor portal. Be sure to include a link to your existing work."

Mat, thanks for the response, I guess I am more concerned with only accepting illustrative editorial. Hopefully that will expand in the future to include all editorial. But it is at least a start!

Dang, I don't have that many video uploads to qualify for the whole package
Then you had better get busy producing new content Sean. There is still plenty of time!

Ah, it goes through the end of the year? The way it read, I wasn't sure.
For both plan qualifications it says: "........during the period of Jan 1- Dec 31, 2019......" It's on the web page FAQ.

Why no mention of "OFFSET"?
It's interesting that there is no discussion of the quality of the collection just size...truly treated as just a commodity.
