« on: August 11, 2011, 01:27 »
what i did is open the raw file in lightroom and right click to choose open in photoshop..and after you are done, and close the raw file and u will be asked do u want to save it..i click yes..and it will be saved as a tiff file, and it will appear to the raw file side by side in lightroom..

then i can do some final finetune in lightroom..

it is the only agency who doesn't give a sales report... are contributors kind of labour that doesn't need attentions? shouldn't we know which files had been downloaded and how much we had been paid?

it is really strange..and it is strange that most of the contributors have to accept this kind of conditions. I had stopped uploaded till i see the sales report.

Software - General / lightroom questions
« on: August 03, 2011, 05:12 »
Hi all,

I need help in getting back a windows prompt in lightroom, i tried to edit the raw files from lightroom to photoshop, right click and choose 'edit in photoshop'. It is usually followed up with a window prompt that give me 3 choices, like edit originals, edit a copy, or edit a copy with lightroom adjustment.

I don't know what i had done and the prompt is no there anymore..it is usually directly open in photoshop (with lightroom adjustment)

I had reset the 'warning prompt' under the edit->preferences, but it is still not there.

anyone can help?

thanks

General Stock Discussion / picworkflow widget
« on: July 25, 2011, 08:40 »
Hi all,

picworkflow had launched a widget which looks quite useful to show your portfolio.

http://blog.picniche.com/news/promote-your-microstock-portfolio-with-picworkflow-widgets/

however, i failed to put it in my wordpress page.

I paste the code into the 'text' widget in wordpress, but only links in texts appear but not the slideshow.

anyone know how to put it in wordpress? and is it possible we include our own referral number for the widget?

it is a great tool after all, better than posting so many banners.

From the website, fotomoto is not working with webpage with xxxx.wordpress.com..any free webpage that will work with fotomoto?

Photodeck and ktools both are capable to do so, but photodeck is paid monthly and ktools is a software? what is the pros and cons of it?

hi all, can ktool have RM license ready? or only sell as rf?

There are ways to set it up for RM also.

Veer / Re: veer-merchandise
« on: July 22, 2011, 21:49 »
oic, thanks for the reply!

Hi mtkang,

The merch Veer sells isn't typically crowd sourced. We have an in-house design team that creates original product, or partners with like-minded companies to offer product. However, if you have an idea or product you're interested in contributing to the fold, contact [email protected] and they can direct you to the appropriate people if it's an opportunity we might want to explore.

Cheers,

Chelsey

General Stock Discussion / Re: stock agency API
« on: July 22, 2011, 11:44 »
hi zager, thanks for the advice. I know it is not going to be easy task, but just try to learn about it. I understand the traffic to the website and the marketing is very important, a good stuff can sit there for years, but a website with traffic will sell something..

but i kind of think that it is like opening a franchise, there is always a market there.

Hi mtkang. My advice should help you decide as we run an agency that incorporates several API's into one site.

It's fairly easy to do affiliate stuff, but running your own website might require a bit more technical skills and a good hosting company if you take it seriously. Still, even that the tech side is a must, itself will not make you money until you're great in marketing and promotion. It's the same everywhere. You can have a perfect technology but if you're not smart in marketing (and believe me, a lot of ideas were invented already) you might just loose your money and time.

There are several agencies that were in your position 5 or more years ago. Some are still operating at a loss. Some are closed already. And I guess only a few of those made it to black numbers (positive cashflow).

General Stock Discussion / stock agency API
« on: July 22, 2011, 04:54 »
Hi all,

Quite a few of agencies provide API so that one can have a website with their image database.

Anyone had experiences of these? i wonder do we need to pay them for becoming a reseller? what i know is fotolia has details on this reseller API on their page, how is it compares to other website? can we have a website with few database from different agencies?

One can only earn by the referral commission as a reseller website, right?

General Macrostock / Re: submitting to Getty
« on: July 22, 2011, 00:34 »
do u guys think if submitting to agency like getty, a 'processed' images that looks visually stunning is better?

since most RF images are preferred to be 'less processed', that the designer can do more on that image. Do you think most RM buyers prefered a 'finished' image? or just same as RF buyers, prefer a 'less processed' image?

Photo Critique / Re: shutterstock rejection
« on: May 30, 2011, 08:10 »
You are right...I just adjusted the white balance from the raw files, now i got a new rejection..Focus--Your image is not in focus or focus is not located where we feel it works best.

does it mean the focus is too shallow?

The green baize doesn't look the right color to me.  You could adjust the color balance with the raw file but then they might reject it for focus.  They don't seem to like the background being out of focus for some reason that I can't understand.  The reviews seemed fairer lately but I had a really good photo rejected yesterday that surprised me.  I usually forget about rejections, other sites can make money from their mistakes.

Photo Critique / shutterstock rejection
« on: May 27, 2011, 06:19 »
Hi, i got a rejection from shutterstock of this image.
Poor Lighting--Poor or uneven lighting, or shadows. White balance may be incorrect.

I used surrounding light for this image, i wonder is there a way i can improve this image by post processing to make it accepted by shutterstock?

I am quite clueless sometimes about the rejection reason, do i need to pump up more light? or the white balance is incorrect?

thank you.

in the 'print page' i choose 'zoom to fit' and 'stroke border' and manage to add a white border around image..and choose to 'print to file'..

Is there a way to add the border as part of the 'water mark template' during export?

In Lightroom you can change the size of the print. I make black borders all the time with lightroom: www.janwillphotography.com

Photoshop Tutorials / how to add white border with lightroom?
« on: April 22, 2011, 10:25 »
Hi all,

Anyone got a clue how to add a white border with lightroom?

I google internet, it seems there is a plug-in to do so.

What is the way to do it without the plug-in?

I tried the 'print' method, 'stroke border' and it add a white border. But lightroom there is no a light room template which is fit on images, all templates are like A4 or Letter size which will make extra white border for final jpg.
