well, I've contacted 123rf regarding releases and they said they're implementing their new release system soon. So I'm just waiting for them to implement it. After that I'll add releases support for 123rf to the program.
ok - no worries. thanks.

since 123rf works with a csv file submission for model releases.. wouldn't it be "easy" to get stocksubmitter to make a csv and send that file to the right spot?

When I'm looking for something I just type in a description of what I'm after and Google finds me (usually) some reasonable choices or the site I was looking for but whose URL I couldn't remember.
It's like phone numbers - you used to have to remember them to call someone and having a catchy easy-to-remember number was a good thing for a business. Now I have contacts on my phone and I increasingly have no idea what number I dialed (I can still remember my childhood phone number though!).
If having a good URL was all it took, photos.com would be the cream of the crop and it's a rather stale looking backwater...
agreed but the SEO value of a good domain is worth a lot. I have some pretty crappy sites that show up very high in the search results for matching searches. Or, do a search for stock photo and this new site has already managed 4th spot. I watched that auction on Flippa and was pretty surprised at the price when it sold. I agree with Gostwyk though, I think the domain will have value in itself for quite a while. Even if the added TLD's become popular, everyone is going to consider the .com as default for quite a while yet. I've talked to the guy who owns the domain it a little and he seems like a genuine and nice guy (for what that's worth). I can't comment on the business plan side of it though as I don't know much about his long term plans and wouldn't want to put words in his mouth even if I did.

I was researching the best off site back-up again and stumbled accross symform. Is anyone else using it? Do you have bad or good experience with it?
I still like the idea of a physical off-site backup that I take too and from another house/office .. it is great if I ever need to restore a backup.. but an auto off-site backup to the cloud does have it's advantages in that it is always up to date. My current system of taking drives back and forth to the inlaws is usually about 1 month behind.

Pretty average for me. I usually see a bit of a drive upwards up until the last weekend before Christmas.. then everything drops off a cliff.

Thanks for the news Jim. I think this would have slipped by most of us.
The sounds like Shutterstock entrace into the German market was quite well timed. For better or worse...

I have just removed a thread that (I felt) was calling another member out. I feel the culture of this forum is degraded a bit when we start to pick on each other and point fingers (whatever the reason)
Sure, if an image or images have wrong keywords they should be taken care of, but a message direct to the photographer themselves is perhaps more appropriate. making a public spectacle of it.. less so. I'm sure I have some mistakes in my images as well. If anyone ever finds one, I'd be happy to have it pointed out to me but I'm not sure a public discussion about it is going to help.

I believe iStock and Fotolia already have one. I haven't heard about one for Shutterstock though

DepositPhotos just released a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop, In-Design and Illustrator. I haven't tried it out but it looks like a good thing for those who use both depositphotos and those products. A new Depositphotos extension provides you with a comprehensive suite of advanced search functions, allowing you to quickly and efficiently browse millions of stock files available in the Depositphotos collection. Not only can you buy the images you need from within Adobe software, you can evaluate the suitability of different files before you buy them, simply by dragging the image preview to the work area of your current project. Moreover, the extension saves all your Depositphotos purchases. In order to access them, just go to the appropriate tab. Besides, our plugin gives you up-to-date information about the number of credits you have in your account and your subscription plan; you can also quickly access your credits or subscription pages via the extension to buy more or renew. http://depositphotos.com/depositphotos-adobe-extension.html

No one who says its apples and oranges has explained why. So tell me why cant you compare the two? Honest question. One is a deal that sells perpetual redistribution rights to a 3rd party for a few bucks, the other is just another licensing deal that allows the artist to earn on every sale. They're completely different.
which is why there is no question on which one is better.
Of course there is one better then.
I am completely lost here; two agencies made a deal, which one is better. I think SS has the better deal for us. Its not a bad deal at all in my opinion and the getty deal is.
Its funny though, because the thread opened when the deal was announced a while back before the SS deal started, everyone applauded it. Now the deal is live and everyone is upset. What happened in the mean time? What did I miss.
Everyone who? I still think it is a good deal. Maybe a better poll would have been.. do you like the shutterstock facebook deal.. yes, no?

Oh joy. I haven't heard anything from Bluehost.
Of course I can't find the assets file in my file manager.
I think it is just for 4 and not 3. I didn't see those folders either.
Yeah, probably just for 4. I had the folder which needed deleting. Since my site got hacked and the paypal ipn wasn't working I decided to do an upgrade. I 'think' i have most things working again.. sigh.. They really really need a better template system so we don't have to reapply our changes on every update.

I just got a note from my web host that my ktools site got hacked.. looks like I have my evening project in place I logged onto their site and saw there was a vulnerability discovered. Anything less than version 4.5 is vulnerable... which means everyone since 4.5 was released today. PhotoStore 4.x Security Vulnerability Discovered A vulnerability has been found in a 3rd party script called Uploadify we use in PhotoStore. Any versions lower than 4.5 are vulnerable. To protect your site please delete the /assets/uploadify/old/ directory and files within.

I had sales only at shutterstock and fotolia for the moment. I guess I won't bother uploading to the rest of agencies.
exactly. You'd be much better off speding that time creating more files.

Alamy is very hit and miss. They have some good sales once in a while but nothing very reliable. Alamy only earns about 2% of my best site so your results are probably fairly typical.

How many files do I need to consider my portofolio decent or big?
Unless you are making over $1000/month on your best site, i wouldn't worry about any more than the top 5-8 sites.

So basically it's non-subscription sales at subscription prices.
We enter a whole new market, already at the bottom.
The license is very limited, the buyer can only use the image on Facebook.. it is a bit different. It seems like a good/fair deal to me. Here is more info from Shutterstock http://www.shutterstock.com/buzz/shutterstock-facebook
