Print on Demand Forum / blurb
« on: February 26, 2011, 04:06 »
I tried to create a book with blurb.. it seems quite interesting. But it seems you need to order your book before it become on sale in their store.

what is your experience with blurb?

General Macrostock / Re: microstock that offer RM?
« on: February 26, 2011, 00:11 »
as a contributors, i would like to sell some of my photos which i think is valuable as Rights-managed price.. and i would like to sell something like isolated apple as microstock price, that's why i am trying to look for more channels i can sell RM.

I had an account with alamy so i just want to reach out more channels.

as a buyers, after getting many RF images, i may need to get something unique images once in a while for some customers, i will wish the same agencies i am using got a library of RM images too.

i remember someone mentioned RM images in one of the microstock agencies..not sure is it featurepics, but i don't see RM license there..only RF editorial license.

i am using google chrome, the new portal seems is not working that well in my browser..

i tried to select the photos..and click edit, it seems there are some kind of non-response..

and i failed to select few images and edit together.

631
so we didn't really need to choose the SR license and set the price? dreamstime will inform us when someone requests?

are you allowed to offer a price?

It's mainly so they can have exclusive use of the image. But is a bit of a mis-sell as people that have already bought it RF will probably still be using it in future. All they're really getting is an assurance that you wont sell it to anyone else in future.
Funnily enough I had an email from Dreamstime today telling me someone wanted me to SR to an image, but it sells quite well so I refused.

632
i wonder what usage that extended license didn't allow, but SR-EL is okay?

are they allowed to resell it?

i tried to adjust something in the middle..do u adjust W/B based on 'feelings'?

By mtkang at 2011-02-23
Hi all,

I am wondering do we need to remove color cast always? when we should remove and are there cases we should keep the color cast?

I got this image i took during late afternoon sun, and there is a yellow cast due to the sun. W/B is set 'daylight'.

By mtkang at 2011-02-23

since i shoot raw, so i can remove the color cast easily, by changing W/B to 'auto WB'.

By mtkang at 2011-02-23

I took the image for editorial purpose, so i wonder do i need to remove the yellow cast? as a buyer, will the buyer reject the pictures that comes with sunset cast?

I may just go for the one without color cast, since this picture doesn't interpret anything about sunset. what do you think? if there is time we should leave the colour cast as it?

thank you.

« on: February 22, 2011, 08:41 »
I have an impressions that it is always group of same contributors get sales on the front page..under the 'recently purchased' link.

and usually there are few sales on that 'recently purcharsed' from same contributors. It makes me think that the search engines works in favor of images with most downloaded.

Adobe Stock / Re: What's the problem? few downloads
« on: February 22, 2011, 08:08 »
is it an option in fotolia to choose for 3rd party sales? i notice some of the sales in fotolia are through reseller.

basically if you didn't get sales, try submitting different kind of photos..

General Stock Discussion / Re: Agencies with Fair Commissions
« on: February 22, 2011, 07:56 »
how about list down the agencies that only paid fixed amount with subscriptions and no extra amount for extended license?

Most subscriptions downloads sites are required a higher fee for extended license. But i notice it seems some websites are offered the images with subs download without option for extended licenses.

scanstockphoto - everything 1 euro
colourbox - everything 0.20-0.35 euro
photospin - can be as low as few cents

please correct me if i am wrong, but i can't find a option in those site if i want to use as 'extended license'.

then i dont get it what does it mean '30sec per image'?

i got some server error when i try to browse around..

just saw their banner in microstockgroup here..

30sec per image? some websites you can do 30 image in 1 second..

Big new!
New upload system is on line!
Just need to try it now... ;D

Yeah, you could do 30 images in one swoop.  Depends on how many releases and things you have to attach.  If you have a batch of 50 images that have all the same general info it would only take a few seconds to send in the whole batch.

Cutcaster / Re: Changing Photo or Vector Prices Video
« on: February 20, 2011, 13:07 »
possible to explain how the price system works in cutcaster?

I saw all my eps vector is 2.60 credits, i found it is very low price.

is there a way to edit the price to batches? instead of one by one?

i remember contributors can choose a cutcaster logic for pricing, it will adjust itself? is it still working in this way?

Software - General / handling 1G file size in windows 7
« on: February 20, 2011, 04:56 »
Hi all,

I had joined a few images as panorama and resulted in a 1.06G tiff.

I realise that the windows explorer had problem to handle it, takes forever to open the folder with the file, and it is always a 'waiting' cursor when i select and click it.

my computer is cpu e5500 and 2g ram, does windows had problem to handle a file like 1G?

It takes sometimes to open through photoshop but okay. I end up using adobe bridge to delete that file.

Just wonder is it too big size for windows explorer?

Veer / Re: veer a wasted effort for new contributors?
« on: February 16, 2011, 15:55 »
i thought my country had no tax-treaty with US..so i had to lose that 30%?
do i have a way to get it back?

the tax deduction is on almost every agency based on US..but on other site, my US sales are not that big percentage..

it got a huge tax 30% on some countries...for US sales.

So for Dash for Cash, i got 30% gone..and it seems the major customers are US..so i got almost 99% sales are US sales..

it is like whenever i make $100, i only got $70.. too bad.

It's isn't gone forever.  Don't you get most of it returned when you file your taxes?
