They got back to me saying they had initiated a 'second scrub' to get rid of their content and account... which sounds like a fancy way of saying they didn't do it properly the first time... but all seems to be good now!

Did Pond5 sales account for 80% or more of your total stock sales? If not, then it was probably a bad idea to go exclusive!

FYI... got a reply from P5 support yesterday saying they had removed the account. Only got around to checking it today, and it's still there. Can get to their profile page with all my items still listed and they're still showing up in searches. Have emailed them to double check... although it could be a caching issue. Time will tell.

I'm not all that on photos, but if you're good at photography then you've got a head start on video. The rules of composition, lighting and exposure are pretty much the same, just ensure that your exposure is set to twice your frame rate so you get natural motion blur. So you're limited from a creative standpoint on that... as your exposure will always be around 1/48th of a second to 1/120th of a second, unless you're doing super slow motion.
The general rule for video (it might just be my rule, but...) is to make sure your subject is moving or your camera is moving. I.e. if there's no movement in the subject or the camera, then as lovely as the subject may be, it may as well be a still image. So if it's a landscape, you could always do a timelapse so you have movement in the clouds. And if you're moving the camera then you want to keep movements slow, steady and of a consistent speed... so you're best using a slider, a gimbal, or a decent fluid head on a tripod.
You might know all this already, and as I say... I'm no expert, but there you go!

Yeah you can opt in or out, but it's invite only at the moment. If you decide to opt out, you need to give them 90 days notice.

It's obviously a concern, but I guess it's just seen as 'par for the course'... an inconvenient, but acceptable risk of doing business when it comes to AE templates.

Looks like the best selling AE item at Pond5 has had 530 sales, and if it's been $9.99 since the beginning, it's made them around $2647.Heck, even I've got three AE templates on that have made more than $2647 each on VH... and I'm not all that good with After Effects, so that should tell you something!
Best selling item on VideoHive? 27,050 sales at $53, making them just under $1m! They guy makes nearly $50k a month just on Vidohive!

Yeah, the official process is that you submit your content, and they review them when you get fed up of waiting for several months and email them to complain.

99% of the elite and non-elite authors are unhappy about the sales drop, and they're threatening to leave the site
Every week a bunch of people complain about some sales drop, and every week a bunch of people threaten to leave the site... for the ten years or so they've had the forums. Some do, some don't... but all the while Envato has got bigger and bigger, bringing in more and more revenue.
Like increasinglydifficult says... increased competition means that although there's an increase in buyers (so the agency is growing) the increase in money that these new buyers bring in isn't enough to offset the increase in new authors/files... so the money is spread thinner among the ever increasing contributors. And the longer you've been there the harder it is to keep up.
It the reason why most people see the same kind of chart when they look at their annual earnings... large increases in the first couple of years, steady increases in the next few, slight increases in the few after that... and then it levels out or drops after that... unless they're consistently uploading more this year than they did the year before.
Based on the above, and coming back to the authors who are complaining about dropping sales... it amazes me that some of these people aren't uploading more content than they did last year... they're uploading less, and in some cases, nothing at all. And they're wondering why sales are dropping... crazy cats!

so basically - if they see something that competes with their product, they reject you. Not because it is 'bad' - just because they don't want you getting sales.
There's no evidence to support that, you're just making assumptions. And as there's plenty of files on the marketplace that are similar to the files of the reviewers, it's highly unlikely to be true. To the OP... you an choose whatever price you want to set your items at, they most definitely don't force you to sell your templates at a low price. As for taking more than half your money... that's true for non-exclusive authors with average priced items. If you're exclusive then they take half... sell loads of stuff and they'll take 30% or less. And while I'd never recommend being exclusive to one agency when selling footage or images, I'd make an exception for VideoHive if you're just selling AE templates on your account. No other agency comes anywhere close to the sales numbers. On the rejections... they can afford to be picky, not much that can be done about that. And for the sorting of items in the search results... yes, they did make a change recently to display best sellers first rather than new items. It's not the first time they've altered the search criteria and they've not confirmed whether the change is permanent yet. And as Pond 5 show best match rather than newest... there's no guarantee you'll show up top there either. Bottom line... if you're selling AE templates then there's really not much point in selling your templates anywhere other than VideoHive.

Why multimillion dollar agencies don't have a method to check for duplicate content upon upload (like file size check, or image/frame data) is beyond ridiculous.
Hope you're also trying to get paid your due royalties for the sales this thief had.
I asked for removal of my files as a bare minimum, banning as a minimum, and preferably transferring all of their sales from this month (hard to recoup previous months sales) to my account.

Been a few posts recently about Pond5 content on Vimeo, so I went to Vimeo, put 'space, sci-fi' in the search bar and found one of my items on the first page. The second item I found was being sold by BlackBox, but that's fine as it was one of the clips I submitted there to test the waters. The third item I found (which I thought was mine), was being sold by this jennibillys via Pond5.

Just found somebody on Pond5 selling a whole bunch of my video content. Exact same files I have on Pond5 myself, with much later ID numbers, so hopefully shouldn't be a problem getting them removed/banned... but just thought I'd share so you can check for your own content. https://www.pond5.com/artist/jennibillysThere's also accounts on BigStock and DepositPhotos using the same username... just images on those though. Have contacted Pond5 support.

75% faster than what? If it's a dual core 2012 machine with 4GB of RAM, then that's considerably less impressive than it being 75% faster than some recent, top spec, next best model.

You don't need a 4K camera to have a decent chance at stock... the majority of all sales are still HD. Always worth future-proofing though I guess.

But they're not split though are they? The subscription content that is owned or 'licensed' by Storyblocks, and the subscription content that is submitted by contributors/authors? Or are they? It's my understanding that if somebody subscribes, then they can download either, as there's not multiple subscription offerings... as far as I know. As such, the contributor provided content may be a small portion of the whole currently (which may result in a small portion of the revenue), but there are a load of subscribers, probably a lot more than Envato as Storyblocks/VideoBlocks have been going for several years.
I just think the Tesla example is a bit pointless. If you submit to Pond5 or Shutterstock does that mean you can automatically buy a Tesla? How long will this take? Does it matter if someone has 500 files and somebody has 50,000. Do the earnings scores in the Microstock Poll Results equate to % of a Tesla? Are subscription sites automatically bad, and normal sites automatically good... even if I earn more through subscription sites than I do through 123RF, Dreamstime, DepositPhotos, ClipDealer, Canstockphoto, MotionElements, Clipcanvas, and Clipdealer combined?

... I was talking about revenue pool, not my % or total income... SB can`t buy Tesla S with dollars invested in monthly revenue pool... OK?
So Storyblocks can't buy one Tesla S with the tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of customers who are paying them $16 a month? Are you sure you're basing your opinions regarding Storyblocks on actual data... or just random feelings and assumptions?

Open_, you are right with.
It is about 60% of the first two months and going down fast. In 2-3 months $ return from Memeber library will be about the same as in Marketplace before.
What are we talking about here, $1/clip/month? $0.1/clip/month? $0.01/clip/month?
No one else seems to have actual numbers, just "bad", which is quite subjective.
$1,000 for 1,000 clips per month would be quite good, even if it was $2,000 before, and $20 for 1,000 clips would be quite bad, even if it was $10 before...
On Envato Elements I make $2.80 per clip, per month. I know it's a different site with different customers and content etc, but they're also $16.50 a month for unlimited downloads, with a revenue share setup. If Storyblocks turns out to be about the same, then that'll do me.

You're probably right. But if you could list which agencies will generate me enough money to buy the average Tesla S model then that would be much appreciated. Just one would be fine. Or better still, if you could let me know exactly what i will be able to buy from my StoryBlocks earnings that would be just as useful. I mean based on your posts, I'm assuming you have these numbers?

You can't see number of DLs in Member library to calculate your earning for $/clip
With the new Dashboard revenue pool is not visible.
That's kind of what I was getting at. Trucic said the revenue pool was extremely low, but unless I'm missing something... nobody knows how much the revenue pool is?

...simply, revenue pool is extremely low
How much is in the revenue pool?
