;D thank you for not leaving me alone here.
btw, I personnaly use clean feathers sold for decoration or do-it-yourself purpose. But people using this method are increasing, and they are all very satisfied, as I am (doing it on 400D and 5D). And when I check by shooting a white paper at f22, the result is just perfect.

Hem, this was not a joke.
Or maybe are you all already aware of this method...  :o

Or maybe, the only interesting discussions here are based on frustration about rejections, sales always going slow, 2 month old agencies not selling images as shutterstock does, incredibly borning polls, etc etc...  :-\

BME (among 23) already done for me this month at SS :D
Neither complaining increases sales, nor the time spent on forums...  ;)
And time is definitely not for mass uploading.

Well, I personally use a method that is 100% free, without ANY risk (no liquid in contact with the sensor), 100% NATURAL technology and that you can do everytime you need it, and I think compatible with all : I clean sensors with bird's feathers.

Nothing better than that for me. I think you would find some informations if you googlize it, i'm lazy with my english these days. Yes, pigeons can be very usefull! (or other birds of course, with enough rigid feathers on top).
In fact, I do a little feather duster as you can see on this photo I just took.
Of course, you have to use the tool in the right direction...  :-\

New Sites - General / Re: New Vector only stock site
« on: September 06, 2008, 09:30 »
I am sorry my friend but you deserve this.. I have been telling on these forums for a long time now that "no one should waste their time by uploading for a few pennies"
Is it you Dad ?  ;D
Well, can you remind me please how much a vector sale is on SS ?

First of all you should have read their funny commission before signing up!
You could suppose instead I ever read all the conditions before signing. Did you read in my post a complain about their commission?
please, read more carefully before posting...

If they were smart, they'd all close down their portfolios on any site which offers subscriptions [...]
So, if you want to blame anyone for the state of things on MS sites, blame the people who continue to contribute despite the changes made that are not in their favor.

1- You are contributor and opted in for StockXpert subs  :-\
2- You are contributor at DT, where there is no choice to opt out for subs.  :-\
Why not apply your policies to yourself first?

It's written in the legal page : "5.2 This Agreement is effective until it is terminated. You can terminate this Agreement by removing the content from Vectorstock.com. The Agreement also terminates without notice from Vectorstock if at any time you fail to comply with any of its terms."
They just lie until it's impossible to remove anything after validation, and they ignore you if you ask them.

Thank you much RT for your light, you are right, they don't play on the same market.
Btw, Alamy also sells images for $1 now with their new "Limited Use"...

Thanks Leaf, Fran.
well, sure the point is exclusivity. In fact, I don't want give any exclusivity on these images, but only sell them as RM, so they can be at different agencies.
- In PS policies its written : "You can list images here non-exclusively", so, I think there is no problem with them.
- In inmagine policies, it's written : "Under this contract the Contributor has the right to: control whether each Image they submit is sold under a Royalty Free or Rights Managed License (with or without Rights Protection)." I think there is also no problem there, since you can control Rights protection.
- At Alamy, Licenced images can also be, at your choice, Rights Protected (i.e. exclusive) or not either.

Well, seems to be there is no problem there. But about FP? any advice? (since I never put RM images there).

It's quite hard for me to get all the nuances of the legal texts, since english in not my mother tongue.

General Macrostock / Places for RM images
« on: September 04, 2008, 04:46 »
Hello, I would like to get some opinion about that :
Putting the same RM non exclusive images at Alamy (Licensed), Photoshelter, Inmagine and Featurepics.
Is there something wrong by doing that ?
FP is a place you have to put a price, how high should it be to be compatible with others ?
Any other agencies to put RM images ?
Anyone experienced with that ?
Thank you!

Adobe Stock / Re: Prints for sale through fotolia?
« on: August 27, 2008, 15:07 »
The thing that gets me is this is not a stock photo site. It is a print site, they are marketting our images as prints and we are not getting fair compensation. If istock was to sell a gigantic canvas print, how much would the artist get? I have no problem at all if a customer goes to a stock site, purchases license, and goes through the trouble of printing it for their personal use.

What is the difference between this website and Fotolia cutting a deal with a fine art dealer? Couldn't they just tell the dealer: Here is 4 million images, print whatever you like and just include our basic license price in the print. We will take a percentage on that tiny price and give a few pennies to the artist. It just seems wrong to me, did I miss something? I'm still trying to get a grip on whats going on here. A little heads up would have been nice. Opt in/Opt out would be nice as well.

I also have an image on the first page of their best sellers list. So, yea, I feel I'm getting screwed. I'm about ready to delete the image from fotolia and any others that might have sales potential as prints.

I totally agree.
I think there is one more reason to think about where should go the best images...

Alamy.com / Re: Has anyone tried Alien Skin to upsize?

Most sites will reject upsized images... only accepts native camera resolution picures.

You don't know Alamy then, where you have to...  :-\

It seems to be http://eu.fotolia.com/ equals to http://en.fotolia.com/, since the same title "Fotolia.co.uk" is on the window.
