Very slow all month until just a couple of days ago and then picked up a lot, in particular Shutterstock.

They also have Pay Per Download (PPD) Pro Earnings too which are calculated based on the Subscriber Share model.
https://www.vecteezy.com/deals/how-are-ppd-pro-earnings-calculated Quote Calculating the Percentage Earned from a Customer’s Subscriber Share I can see how this works but overall I'm not impressed so will give it a miss. Thanks all. 678
General Stock Discussion / Vecteezy - Anyone experience with them?« on: October 13, 2021, 12:02 »
I been contacted three times this past week by a rep from Vecteezy telling me they love my work and portfolio (blush) and to apply with them to become a contributor. I don't have any vectors but have photos and videos which I see they sell on the site.
Anyone a contributor on Vecteezy and can share your experience? Thanks. 679

I was kind of joking and having a bit of fun in my post above playing on the description that we are refugees which is quite funny in itself. Cheers Pacesetter 680

Yes, we apply and plead for refugee status on the grounds of compassion having just escaped a brutal dictatorship who persecuted his own people. Many of us have risked our lives to travel across open rough cyber seas in leaky digital boats to arrive at this beautiful and prosperous land called MSG. If MSG choose to deport us, we have nowhere to go. 681
Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Sales are so slow this days« on: October 07, 2021, 06:22 »
August was my BME in over two years of being on the platform. September was slower than average and October has started very slow.

I also consider if closing the forum is a measure of disarming the collective voice and discontent of contributors to soon thereafter, announce another restructuring of the payments structure and further contributor commission cuts. Keeping true to my newly enlightened favourable perspective of the agency and their management team, this move would be the logical next step in generating profits for the company and its shareholders while reducing the potential for bad publicity. It would be a highly effective and profitable business strategy going forward.

Yes, was a big inspiration to me starting out but wouldn't of known it cos I wasn't posting at the time, just lurking. Beautiful content in a photography niche that I'm most interested in. 684
Shutterstock.com / Re: Murdered Shutterstock Forum Refugee Thread« on: October 03, 2021, 20:49 »
As for members of SS forum leaving, I wasn't aware so many were banned, which probably explains much of it. I thought that perhaps many left due to low morale and feeling discouraged by declining earnings and diminished returns on their work and investment to produce content.
But alas, either way, this would suggest that microstock agencies and perhaps the industry more broadly, is the reason for low contributor participation. And how dare I make such a criticism. How dare I! But thanks to a very Talented colleague on the MCG forum, I have now seen the error of my ways. So with my new enlightened perspective I have looked again at why contributors departed the SS board en masse and can see they left simply due to them no longer needing the forums. All are making so much more commission earnings now than they use to under the old stagnant payments structure and are fully content and satisfied. Thank you Shutterstock! 685

'Murdered' is the appropriate description of the actions of the executive leadership of that place. The top dog is a callous, cunning, narcissistic hypocrit.

Print on Demand Forum / Re: Anyone FAA doing the group contests?« on: August 05, 2021, 07:35 »
Is this the contest where you have to chase 100 votes just to qualify for the judging round? Looked at that and then deleted the email. Got far better things to do than market a website that hasn't sold any of my content and charges contributors to upload more than 25 images.

The free image wholesale offer (which I didn't sign up to) must be going really well as my sales have completely stopped.

General Stock Discussion / Re: New Licensing Opportunity By Shutterstock« on: July 13, 2021, 08:17 »
So Shutterstock are reaching out to their valued contributors to establish deals before they pull the rug on the whole thing and convert their database of images and videos to a completely free site, knowing many will close their ports but there will remain (without doubt) enough stock to offer many thousands of free images and videos while continuing to licence high-quality stock (from their pool of valued contributors who signed a NDA) for premium prices. Basically, Shutterstock will become a hybrid free / premium microstock agency to lure customers and gain market share.

Pond5 / Re: How has Pond5 been in 2021?« on: July 10, 2021, 09:06 »Pond5 is dead, 460 clips and not one sale in the last two months. Have made regular sales on Shutterstock with 50 fewer clips in the port - totaling over $130 during this period where nothing has sold on Pond5 - and that's with a slow month for video sales in June. 692

General Stock Discussion / Re: recommended video sites?« on: July 02, 2021, 21:18 »i'd stay away from istock...from my 1year test i can say that all the clips that i sold through istock suddendly lost traction(sales) on adobe pond5 and ss...so in my opinion it doesn't worth to sell on istock for 3$ and lose part of those sales where other agencies pay you better I'm watching this with my own port having recently uploaded video. The two sales I've had so far would support the argument that istock are flogging these for peanuts but too early to tell if that will continue and whether it affects sales on other sites. 694

Rather ask 'What can I do for my agency'. 699
Newbie Discussion / Re: boycott shutterstock« on: June 08, 2021, 06:27 »Adobe Stock continues to grow in sales; plus Mat comes on here and lets us know what's going on which is a bonus. Adobe Stock has never been so slow as in the last few or more weeks. I'm not a large seller on the site averaging $40 a month over a recent 12 month period - until last month. I've only had 2 downloads so far this month. I'm glad I never listened to the loud mouths telling us on SS forums to abandon SS for Adobe Stock. 700
General Stock Discussion / Re: May 2021 Brutally Honest Earnings Report« on: June 05, 2021, 00:24 »My own Brutally Boring results for May 2021. Who remembers the days when there was a race to publish the first earnings report each month in this forum and comments would go on for several pages. What a truly boring industry this has become... I note the same lack of activity on YouTube monthly earnings updates. Even just a year ago there were more channels reporting their earnings and generating interest and discussion. The same could be said of other contributor forums. Contributors have likely become dispirited, discouraged and demotivated with the ever dwindling decline in earnings despite even continuing to produce content in many cases. This is where I'm at. I actually continue to upload stills and videos and actually had an okay month in May for my standard, but the decline in sales and earnings generally has definitely taken the wind out of the sails for me. |
