Don't get me wrong. I like Dreamstime. They make money for me. I was just expressing that I miss being able to use ProStockMaster.

I did get this reponse From Dreamstime:
"The "outside" upload was suspended for a while. Whether it will be back or not, depends on the resources that are consumed this way. Please use the FTP until then and don't use third party brands on the forums.Thank you." Guess that about sums it up. 703

I posted the same comment in the Dreamstime forum, but they removed it within 2 hours. I guess they considered it a negative post, and did not want to address the issue.

Well, yes it says it has uploaded the files successfully, but they never showed up in the "unfinished files" section. (I do have the registered version of ProStockMaster.)
Were you able to finish the files? Are you on a PC? I'm on a Mac. 705

Dreamstime just broke my favorite upload tool, ProStockMaster. Dreamstime now requires you to enter a number code before uploading.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Building a food portfolio, using it to its full potential, buying/using props?« on: January 30, 2009, 09:35 »
Forget about shooting food! That's my niche, and you can't have it! (just kidding)
Try going to prophotolife.com and do a search for "food". Excellent website for learning about lighting and table top photo shoots. Don't just think about food. Once you've mastered the food niche, you'll find you can use the same lighting for everyday items, that no one has thought of, yet. I always go for a broad depth of field. Everything in sharp focus, front to back. That usually means taking multiple shots, at different focus points, and a lot of post production, in Photoshop. But, that's my thing. You can make it as complicated as you want. Think in terms of " What can I offer, that no one else is doing?" That's your real creative niche. Good luck! 707
General Stock Discussion / Re: Get Paid Shooting Nothing« on: January 29, 2009, 10:07 »
You might want to think twice about submitting to Fotolia or Dreamstime, with this kind of imagery. I submitted a shot of battered barn wood to the big 8 sites. All accepted, except Fotolia and Dreamstime, with the explanation that they had enough of this kind of material. I don't mean to be negative, but watch out for this kind of rejection.

Panthermedia.net / Re: My first payout at PantherMedia« on: January 22, 2009, 19:29 »
Well, I jumped through all hoops, passed the test, and was all ready to start uploading. Then I'm faced with the notice of images they need, and images they don't need. I specialize in tabletop photo illustration. My portfolio has a lot of food, isolated on a white background. It sells well on the other sites, but PantherMedia kindly asks not to upload this kind of stuff. They already have enough. I guess I could try a few, but it doesn't sound promising. Some of their food portfolios are quite good, and I thought I could fit right in. Looks like they want to focus on people images.

Crestock.com / Re: Crestock Search Engine?« on: January 22, 2009, 11:19 »
Okay. I just got a response from the Crestock team, and they are perfectly willing to go back into my keywords, and add the title. I'll have to let them know which ones. About 100 photos. They advised that I can't do it myself.
The problem is, that so much of my portfolio, is fruits & vegetables. So I would just paste all the keywords that applied to either, without including the actual name of the photo. I'm so new to all of this! Haven't run into this problem on other sites. Have recently been using ProStockMaster, and that makes everything a lot easier. 711
Crestock.com / Crestock Search Engine?« on: January 22, 2009, 10:13 »
I posted this question to Crestock, but maybe someone here, can answer it.
I'm surprised that some of my best earning images aren't doing as well here. So I started doing searches of some of the foods that have been in my portfolio, for a year, and found that none of my photos turned up. Searches for "peach", "rosemary", and "red onion", "tamarinds", "toy blocks", and more, are not revealing any of my photos. Is this a keyword issue? For instance, when an obscure food like Tamarinds, is searched the result is "0 matches" even though that's the title of my photo. The word "tamarind" is not one of my keywords. So, it appears that your search engine does not include the title of the photo. Is there a way to go back into my keyword selections and add the title of photo? 712

Would like to help, but I can't tell anything from your links. We would have to see what the inspectors are seeing. Original files at 100%, to check for focus, artifacts, over sharpening, blown highlights, etc.

How does it handle the explanation of keywords on iStock? You use the keyword "Orange", and then iStock asks you to check off, if you meant "color" or "fruit".

General Stock Discussion / Re: Composites« on: January 03, 2009, 10:34 »
95% of my submissions are composites. I spend hours in post production, adding, subtracting, and tweaking. That's my thing. I really enjoy the quest for perfection. Some of my composites are obvious, because they are presented as a series. My single images are often the result of multiple shots, that are cherry picked. I'm a Photoshop junkie. Not everyone's cup of tea, but has been stated quite often, it's "quality over quantity."

Newbie Discussion / Payout Requests in General« on: December 17, 2008, 08:26 »
I see that some sites pay out monthly, and some require that you request a payout. So what happens if you never request a payout? The reason I ask, is because I neglected to monitor my earnings at FeaturePics, and they went ahead and sent my earnings to my PayPal account, once it reached over $250.
Do any other sites do this? Are there any sites that will never send money until a payout is requested? At what limit do they automatically send money, just to clear the books? 720
StockXpert.com / Re: Some Jerk Stole My Images!« on: December 04, 2008, 08:32 »
I just received a very apologetic email, from Mahesh, after StockXpert notified him that they were disabling his account within 48 hours. Admitted it was a serious mistake, removed the images, and offered to compensate me the $50 or $60 he had made from my images. Said he never realized they were copyright protected. (even though it clearly states such, under each title)
All in all, his email was so nice, that I think it was just a newbie mistake. And maybe other newbies can learn from this thread. ![]() 721

What's even more frustrating is that a search for Tamarinds, turns up the stolen image. My upload of Tamarinds, (Nov. 8 2007) doesn't show up in a search.
