Since you asked.your hand isolations suffer from color casts, lack of composition, and distracting backgrounds. Your lighting is nice and soft, but you are concentrating too much on the subject and neglecting the background. Both are important. A clean white background will make your subject pop off  the page. Learn the rule of thirds and apply it to your compositions for more interest. Learn to correct color casts to turn your lifeless blue skin to warm rich flesh. See my correction. You are very close. Don't be in a hurry to load up a ton of mediocre stuff. Spend more time post processing and load up the highest quality to compete with the top earners. The more you practice, the faster you'll get.

Alamy.com / Re: New to Alamy? Read this! :-)
« on: March 10, 2016, 13:15 »
I just received an email from Member Services confirming that Alamy removes any clipping paths included with JPEG submissions. No explanation as to why. As far as I know, it's the only Stock agency that does this.

Hopefully the new upload system would eliminate this problem. Buyers of isolated images love clipping paths!

They still reject as similar, if the subject is shot at two different angles. Just happened to me.  :P

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry for not getting back to you guys, but things have been a bit hectic after our launch. First of all I would suggest you guys view this promotional video we made. It shows some of the key features of qhero.com:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXCJQQoE4Vg

As you can see there are no option of removing images from iStock, but if your a serious istock contributor our features will speed up your workflow in ways not seen before. Bulk uploading and editing, auto-keyword suggestions, and soon auto disambiguation are just some of the great features we offer.

Qhero should work on all browsers, but if you experience problems just let us know through our feedback widget, and we will be right on it.

We are looking forward to hearing what you think!

All the best,

Kasper Ravlo, CEO of Qhero.com

Can't get it to work on my Safari browser. It won't load an image.

I've been waiting for over a month for them to approve my ID. They won't sell anything of mine until then. Very frustrating.

« on: February 09, 2016, 09:26 »
I never noticed that before. Not sure it is worth the trouble. When doing a search in CanStockPhoto, I don't see an option to search by Category.

Adobe Stock / Re: Hint for Keywording less heavy
« on: February 03, 2016, 11:52 »
I don't know about Fotolia, but when it comes to keywording I use Copy'em Paste clipboard manager. (for macs)

It saves a ton of time. I'm not affiliated with the company. Just passing on a useful tip.

From Canva on March 27th:

"I recommend you don't hold much expectation for isolated files being cut out by us.  We already have close to 1 million in the queue, and we pay a high per-file price to have them cut out to a high quality standard.  We're looking through the queue for super high quality files on the subjects that are in demand from our customers, and prioritising these.  And it's still going very slow due to the cost.

It's possible the files you have in the cutout queue will come through shortly, but it's more likely they'll take years, and certainly possible that some will never be done.

So that's why I encourage you not to have your expectations for isolated images too high."

It's been a success for me. I've noticed a big change, since the new year, in regard to approval times. Some of my files have been approved within 24 hours!
I have 786 images that are all cut out PNGs. I had 885 sales in November, and 817 sales in December. 435 sales so far this month, so I'm getting a payout every month.

Newbie Discussion / Re: New to Stock - Feeling Overwhelmed

Your food shots are very professionalbut,  why are you not using Smugmug's watermarking feature?   You are just giving those shots away, and at a huge resolution!

I always thought that they were a video site that dabbled in photography. The key word being dabble.
Started off well, but then lost interest.

I'm avoiding them due to giant previews and useless corner water marks.

Me too!

Do they have a real watermark, or is it still the tiny thing?

They have not addressed the Watermark problem yet.

Veer / Re: Veer dying ?
« on: November 19, 2015, 09:53 »
Not quite dead, only mostly dead. Lifetime earnings since 2009 = $1924. I generally make around $200 a year with 840 files. Comes in handy around Christmas.  ;)

Well it looks like they finally converted my whole portfolio over to the new V2 watermark. I'm happy with it now.
