Adobe Stock / Re: Petition against FT subs
« on: June 09, 2008, 18:46 »
Crestock is a low perfomer, I would not even show it there (not a "big 6").
Snapvillage is even worst and they won't be around in one year from now, so you can remove them as well ;)
This was made to compare subscription models that are existing, not to compare sites that sell or don't.
The limit on Fotolia is $0.32, and I put $0.31 to be more realist.

I think subscription is the worst, everywhere. But no way to blame Fotolia more than others.

Are your preferences set to receive marketing info via email? Check your control panel. It may just be that you are not opted in to their newsletter.
Thank you ! You are right, I oupted out for that marketing and newsletter stuff.
Btw, I like Istock very much, but I like to feel free as I am...

Seems to be I don't desserve exclusivity on Istock...   :P

MP now allows you to "block" as many spammers as you want.
The best thing I ever heard about MP !
Was usefull to me.

By the way, I think this site is
- a good place for backup,
- a good place for loosing the time you don't have,
- a good place for those who are missing ennemies (they don't know you, but already hate you)  :D,
- a good place to know something you already knew from people who know they already are: you are not an artist.  ;)

I had a nice little surprise in today's IS Contact Sheet newsletter... they used one of my best sellers next to the section about video FTP server.  ;D I never thought I'd see one of my pics in one of their newsletters so this sure put a smile on my face.  Here's a link to the web version of the Contact Sheet for those who aren't subscribed. http://recp.rm05.net/servlet/MailView?ms=MTA4MjY4OQS2&r=MTM0NTQ1ODA0OQS2&j=MTA4ODUxNTcyS0&mt=1

This is the image they used.

Really a nice concept, and nice ide you had !!! Congratulations !

How did that concept come into your mind ?

yin and yong stability in question...  ;)

In fact, Getty Images and Adobe are already customers of this canadian company, founded by a French woman. PixID and Piximilar are the products they develop for the industry, who pays to track the pictures they sell.

Concerning their business model, they think about advertising and premium services by subscription, like warning when a logo, a picture or whatever are used.
And they are looking for 10 to 12 billion dollars for their business development...

3. One huge potential use I see for Tineye is image theft and copyright/licensing enforcement. ..

Yes, at the first sight, it is cool to see how your pictures were used, and can prevent resold stolen images by thieves but...

With such systems, you will be able to see where your pictures are used, but rarely if they were licensed ! You imagine they were because there is no watermark.

One other huge potential use for thieves could be searching photos from a stock site database, using their keywording system, popularity sorting etc... and then use tineye to find out an un-watermarked version...
That was not possible by using google images, but that is becoming possible with tineye. Just give it a try with top selling pictures, i did the test, and even found pictures 1000px large, but I don't want to link un-watermarked pictures that are not mine for free here ;)...

Faster than photoshop : [Right clic] -> [clone-out the watermark]...
Tineye, a remedy worse than the malady ?  :-\

Vikavakter, I'm french, there is a link "Alerter" at the bottom of the post, from where you can complain about illegal content.
It is asked to inform them about the title of the article, his date and his url.
"Le Monde" is one of the most famous french newspaper (if not the most).

Computer Hardware / Re: Suggest a monitor
« on: May 17, 2008, 02:49 »
Yes, I totally agree with Leaf. For me, calibration is essential and do all the difference. I know we can have bad visual habits with wrong colors on a monitor.

746
Yes, sales here too...  >:(

They could have been kind enough to permit us to deactivate our entire portfolio from selling, so we stop to give away our work, as if it was not enough having lost our time there.

And Skippy has to remain a Kangaroo, not a hamster ! ;)
Would you name Mickey a rabbit ?  :D

...an unidentifiable person from the back at the edge of a waterfall.
You are right Howard, most of the sites become paranoid and ask for MR when they consider that the person could recognise himself, even from back.

SS increased 10% for one year...
