What amazes me about people is that when pond5 tried to create a hyperstock, many stockers screamed, yelled, were indignant, protested. But when shutterstock switched almost everyone to an unlimited subscription, all these "protesting" stockers silently agreed. People are a herd, and if a shepherd leads the herd with a firm hand, the herd obeys his orders without complaint. But if the shepherd shows weakness, the herd scatters in different directions. Hitler wrote about this in his memoirs. He was right. I see that I am the only one who does not belong to any herd. And this is evident in my life, political and work positions.

The authors are solely to blame for the decline in income on pond5. 1. There has not been a single classic stock that sells videos at high prices for a long time. Adobe is primarily a company that sells software. And the stock in Adobe is just a service for software buyers. Previously, this stock was called Fotolia, but was sold to Adobe. It is possible that the profit of the stock called Adobe is zero or small, but for Adobe it does not matter. 2. Pond5 sold itself because there was not enough profit for the stock to exist. 3. The fault of many authors is that when pond5 tried to open another stock called hyperstock, many began to write on its forum that they would delete their works. Pond5 abandoned the idea that could bring him money to support his classic stock. Of course, I wrote in support of the stock that it is possible to open a hyperstock, but to take there only those authors who agree, but it is obvious that there were problems with this idea. 4. For a long time, pond5 had a subscription called membership, but then it stopped bringing in income. The whole problem with classic stocks trying to sell videos at high prices is that there is strong competition from new subscription stocks. Most buyers do not want to pay a fixed price for a video, people need a lot of videos for a small fee. Therefore, unlimited stocks with a fee of $ 16 per month are very popular among buyers. Yes, there are buyers who need to make their project highly expensive or they have a lot of money, but such buyers are not enough to maintain the profitability of a classic stock. As for getty, this is not a classic stock. This stock sells videos at very low prices. I think that the main profit of getty is from the sale of photos and videos, which are sold on an exclusive basis. Authors! Blame only yourself for the bankruptcy of pond5! As for me, for me pond5 is a place where I can download my videos. This stock gives a normal income from training artificial intelligence.

Hi everyone, my April 2025 sellers is on my YT right now https://youtu.be/Vb3enhVPu5M?si=sojtvda1ZyRe8rph
Miro
Too many words. Make a table of your stock income and post it here. I didn't understand anything from the video.

Video verification is now normal, fast and adequate. I have no complaints about Adobe.

Pond5 has long been only income from training artificial intelligence.

To succeed on YouTube, you don't need drones or video skills. On YouTube, you need to show your face and talk a lot of nonsense. Only such people achieve success there very quickly. If you like this kind of work, you can start.
YouTube is blogging, you need to work as a channel host. Comparing YouTube with stocks and offering stockers this type of business is the same as offering to sell goods on eBay.

Today I saw that the income for April has decreased significantly. Although yesterday it would have been twice as much. Check your statistics.

My "Unlimited subscription" column is completely zero. Probably no one wants to buy a subscription.

I have 0 dollars.

Where did you buy it? Give a link to the product.
From Amazon
The answer is incorrect. Who advertises a product and does not provide a link to it?

As I understand, with this unlimited plan, the customer can use the downloaded files only once, after having previously registered such use, and within the time of their subscription.
This would only benefit the contributor if the subsequent downloads of the same element by the same buyer counts toward the contributor's monthly bottom line
That's exactly how it will be.

A file cannot be stored and reused, but only for a current project. This should mean that each download will be equal to one project and the authors will not be compensated once and for all, as for a normal license!

This is very good news. The same principle applies to Envato subscriptions. I've been wanting to ask about this for a long time, but you beat me to it.

As for filming for YouTube, not all authors want to do this, not everyone can attract viewers with their face. Stockers and authors on YouTube are usually completely different people in character.

The only reason that other agencies offering unlimited downloads must have gained a substantial market share is because there are both clients and, more importantly, creators who are willing to sell large volumes at very low prices. Naturally, this also opened the door for bad actors to constantly upload stolen content. But I believe the problem goes beyond that...
AI has created new dynamics. In my view, platforms like Sora and Runtime ML have already surpassed Midjourney in many aspects. Content production has not only become incredibly cheap but also overwhelmingly abundant. The microstock business model is undergoing a significant transformation contributors are increasingly selling fewer assets to actual end users through platforms like Shutterstock, Getty, or Adobe, and instead are indirectly feeding AI systems for shockingly low compensation.
In Europe, starting May 27th, Meta is preparing to use image, audio, and text data from Facebook, Instagram, and even WhatsApp group conversations to train its AI models. As you can imagine, the goal will eventually be to monetize this learning output by selling it to third parties.
So, its not just about competition in the unlimited download model among rival agencies it's also about the fierce race to access and dominate the emerging AI markets, where traditional pricing models are being completely undermined.
In this new era of AI-driven information, the new oil is content data and metadata for machine learning or attention, meaning eyeballs and audience engagement.
In my opinion, it makes more and more sense to move away from creating content for microstock platforms and instead focus on producing original content while building an audience on platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and others. The real value now lies in being paid through direct or indirect advertising, rather than relying on small sales through traditional microstock models.
It has already been written here on the forum that not all buyers need artificial content created with the help of AI. Moreover, AI creates video content very poorly and very powerful PC resources are needed to then make this content at least in HD resolution, I am not even talking about 4K. No, everything is simple in fact. The unlimited subscription model is popular among many people, and these people will bring much more money than classic buyers.

I hope that those buyers who want to buy my videos without an unlimited subscription will be able to do so. Because I have the impression that the buyer will think that my video can only be bought with an unlimited subscription. At least that's what the product page with my video looks like.

It is logical to assume that SS decided to attract buyers who buy subscriptions to storybloks and Envato. This is the right and logical move. Those who need to buy videos for a lot of money will continue to make such purchases anyway. On the other hand, SS has already bought Envato.

"The plan comes with unlimited downloads, but in order to be able to fairly pay Contributors for your use of their original Content, we limit daily downloads to 100 assets."
Either this restriction only applies to photos, or to videos as well. I don't think such a restriction is good for authors. There are no restrictions on other similar sites. A large number of authors and a large amount of content, as if the income of authors from this subscription would not be blurred. In this case, I will have to refuse sales under such a subscription.

Looks like I'm safe for now. I don't see this program in the licensing options in my account page. I didn't get the e-mail either. I hope I can stay out of it for good (wishful thinking on my part.)
Anyone who has been accepted can deactivate this offer in their account.

This is not clear. It is not clear where to see how many of my videos are now included in the unlimited subscription.

Now I see that Shutterstock has reduced the number of my videos available with an unlimited subscription. About 3 times.

Videos are included, I was thinking about images, thats why I wrote that.

Everything is fine. The price is normal. Apparently buyers can already buy unlimited downloads. The author's income will depend on the number of buyers. Will shutterstock be able to create competition for such well-known stocks as envato and storybloks. It's strange that getty allowed shutterstock to do this. In general, I only support such a pricing system, but only if shutterstock can attract enough buyers for me to receive a stable profit. For example, depositphoto also has this, but I refused unlimited downloads there, because the profit was almost zero. Searching the site shows that only up to 30% of Shutterstock videos are available for unlimited subscription. It's not much, but the main thing is that these videos contain my videos!
