As soon as I got my payout... I wrote support and asked to be deleted. The images were gone in a couple days.... however, they still turn up on the web when surfing and link back to 123rf.... why?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Anyone keywording in Lightroom?« on: March 03, 2010, 20:35 »No not yet. Just going to wait for the real release. Is this problem fixed in the beta?I honestly can't say... I havent been playing with it that long. I too am looking for something to eliminate all the keywording hassle and... When I started this biz years ago, I tracked it with a spreadsheet I made in Excel... when you hit the thousand mark with pix.. it just doesnt work anymore. I need something powerful to manage the port. 81
General - Top Sites / Re: Haha, I am not sure anymore what actually means "poor quality"?? :D« on: March 03, 2010, 20:17 »wow................ glad to see it ended on a happy note!! ..... whitechild... I learned a long time ago... "it is what it is...." you're going to disagree with some rejections and... surprisingly, find you have to agree with some others. It's a fact. I've uploaded my share of pix that got shot down and low & behold, the reviewer was right. Ya learn, ya move on. On the other hand... I do not agree with a blanket charge that when there is a varying of acceptance between different agencies that this means your work is a big lump of non-commercialbility (is that a word?, it is now ![]() I have been in the biz for years now and have made 'a few' bucks at it and microstock has been a very lucrative springboard for me into free lance magazine/book/publishing work. All that considered, just last week I had images shot down as being 'snapshots'... Well, to that reviewer, they were. To reviewers at IS, they weren't and they are already selling. I have seen plenty of work not my own, that should never have been shot down. The reviewer must have been smoking the funny weed... but that's the nature of this biz. My point.. it's not worth the bad vibes to dwell on it. My motto is.. Photographs are like nachos.. I can always make more. On the final hand... I agree with Sharply Done in the couple points he made about your images... Personally, I have found the man's advice to be more helpful than not by a large margin. Fact is, I don't recall ever disagreeing with his tech opinions. They are usually right on. If you can take existing pix in your port and tweek them to a more commercial look, why not do it? And... as you see the results of those efforts, next time in the field.. take a bit more time and try to pull a better image out of the cam. One other thing about this biz... is profitability vs productivity. The more you pull sellable (i'm coining words all over the place) out of the cam and reduce post work, the more profit you make. SharplyDone... great advice! ![]() There is a lot of good help to be found from some very successful 'Togs here on MSG. (and I am not including myself in that group) 82

Even my junk has shown up on flickr... fortunately, bigger guns than me had the sites shut down...
I have to check something.. I could swear that Tineye found my stuff on Flickr.. I'll come back and edit this with the answer.... Modification: Yes... Tineye has found some of my stuff on Flickr {back in Jan 2010}. They were U.S. National Park landscapes. But as I said above... the accounts were deleted due to the efforts of most likely other photogs that were burned. ![]() 87

I'm quite happy here. Occassionally someone will come on and flame someone or everyone... but those people dont tend to stick around... Dont get me started on keyword spam..... YIKES!!!
Perfect example.... and let me say up front... I've no issue with the photos that will show up.. all fine photography.. I'd just like to know how they're related. go to brand new Thinkstock.. type in 'modern livingroom' and see what turns up on the 1st twenty images.. maybe it's me... what's the red & white hand? click on the silverware and look at the keywords... 'furniture, ivingroom...... ? but this old Bible looks like an honest mistake.... ![]() 91

I know there's 53 threads on this... so i'll put it here... perhaps some of you have gotten the same ...
I was concerned about not showing up yet on ThinkStock.... as none of my IS work is there either... I was told... phase II & III have still not happened... be patient. If you're in the same situation... the answer is, everyone has not been migrated yet. He gave no indication how long it would take. I would think that everyone understands now that if you want a cashout under $50, you need to delete your account. If you had sub'd in and you WILL be migrated over to ThinkStock, you need to keep the StockXpert account open as at least for now, that's where your ThinkStock sales will show up. Not the smoothest transition I've ever seen and actually amongst the worst, but I do not think the folks at StockXpert had anything to do with it.. seems it all came from the new boss. ![]() 95

Only knew him thru MSG and the exchange a few emails off site. I enjoyed his sense of humor immensely. He was always willing to give freely of his knowledge and took the time to provide many tutorials for the up and coming.
On many a 'bad' day, my trip to MSG and the reading of his comments made me forget what was so bad about it. -tom 97

I got in yesterday the way Leaf suggested... it worked fine.. but most of the site has been wiped out.. I sent mail, but have had no answer to my query....
basically the only thing left is access to my images and balances. I was opted in on StockXpert and in my IS account... I got email saying my port would be migrating to ThinkStock.. but as of now... I have no images at ThinkStock from either StockXpert or IS. I couldnt care less if they dont go there... but... I'd like an answer as to if I AM or AM NOT going to ThinkStock... If not, I want a cash out. ... support mail is lagging now-a-days... Waiting in New Jersey....... ![]() 98
Cutcaster / Re: Do you buy images?« on: February 16, 2010, 17:15 »
John, I dont buy... but I'd like to throw in my observation in life...
One thing that really ticks me off is keyword spam. I've tried to look for specific images and cannot believe how much crap you have to wade thru to find the subject you want. Too many outfits dont seem to monitor that. Case in point that I had to look thru this past weekend... the new Thinkstock. Try 'modern livingroom', I wanted to see pictures of modern livingrooms... and what I see is a bunch of unrelated stuff showing up. page one,... of the first ten pix... four, a closeups of a chick on a laptop.. she could be sitting anywhere... later on page one.. a couple images of silverware and two illustrations of a bedroom vanity.. Okay, not knocking the photography or art... nice work!!! BUT... nothing to do with a modern livingroom. ...maybe I'm wrong. ?? but IF I WAS a buyer, that kind of stuff would turn me off real pronto and have me looking elsewhere. just my 2 cents... hope I havent wasted your time. ![]() "opinions are like ...noses... everybody's got one" for better or worse. 99

Newbie Discussion / Re: newbie and feeling despondent...« on: February 15, 2010, 17:50 »the subject isn't particularly stocky. It could be used as an abstract background I suppose but the sites really have TONS of those already so it is pretty tough to get them accepted unless the image is really stunning. amen.. I have had little success lately with any form of 'background' or 'texture' images . Evidently they really do have many more than they need. |
