Found my image there, the Report Abuse form won't submit. Perfect.

Yup, I do all my renaming in Bridge. Not free though.

Seems to be an install of http://cmsaccount.com/

I'm totally shocked by the attitude. Literally could not be a worse sign. Ugh. All the funding in world can't teach PR skills or business sense. (Maybe the opposite, even...)

Not the same but really close. Same source material, maybe.

Symbiostock / Re: Is this project dead?

.......   This * Free culture is really the root of all evils in my opinion and i would be more than happy living without linux, lamp, android, and the whole cr-ap, give me IIS, Visual Studio, ASP.net, WinMobile, IOS, no problem, but nooo ... people want free or nothing and they want the sourced code too, all served on a golden platter, then they will rant about the lack of documentation and multi language, and the list is endless.

I started in shareware in the mid 80s in the days of BBS systems, and there was always a divide over whether and how much to limit the demo version -- some programs lent themselves to  it (serialized fps & rpgs like duke nukem, et al), while others meant that the program really would be crippled (editors, etc).  relying on the 'honesty' of users to pay for it if they liked it was rarely a successful strategy

the 'free' software movement is slightly different in that most of the successful products were created by people with another source of funding (universities & other grants, tech companies that could then sell extra services, etc)  applying these same expectations to the arts hurt because few artists have any type of support  other than their work.

I do find it ironic that the same people who lose their mind at the thought of giving away their photos often are the same people who expect free software to power their business.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: istockreseller.com - Scam site?
« on: July 24, 2014, 10:30 »
The site is up, but now it looks like it's just an iStock referral site that pushes you to iStock and give you a coupon code for a little discount, perhaps. Not a big deal - certainly not what it was.

I like how the site is Copyright 2018 at the bottom.

Off Topic / Re: Why are we losing so many members?
« on: June 12, 2014, 15:59 »
A big pile of posts were removed from this thread.

One reason was the cat fight taking place and the other for discussing other members is a negative tone.

This is Leaf's site, he can do what he feels is necessary. And he's been very hands off - no complaints from me, and I don't feel his stepping in has ever damaged this forum or participation.

I do wonder why Dreamstime doesn't just use their own free stock photo site for this "small scale" testing.

http://www.stockfreeimages.com/ has almost a million images to test.

It's been a long time since anyone discussed Photoxpress.com, which is also a Fotolia cheap subscription site: http://www.photoxpress.com/Info/Upgrade/px_monthly_25

It does seem like DPC is a cheaper version, esp. at lower quantities.

Shutterstock.com / Re: And Shutterstock do nothing.....
« on: May 14, 2014, 18:06 »
I think this is just a demo site with demo/comp content. Much bigger fish to fry out there.

You have asked this same question before, and the answer is still: Sites can use the Shutterstock API show results from Shutterstock and try to earn referral income. You should be happy about this. Site like this push thousands and thousands of visitors to you images on Shutterstock.

« on: May 07, 2014, 10:37 »
Hi Stephen,

I filled out the application, provided a portfolio link and was invited to join. Does that mean I'm approved and will appear in search? Or is this step 1 of a process? I uploaded a couple of things, but I can't find them via the search.

Thanks.

This site, like many, many others connects through the API. There's no opt out.

Here's an actual legal paper related to exactly this topic, lightly covering implied license, fair use, etc.

If I set up a shot, place the people, dial the settings, and just ask someone to click the shutter, I own copyright to the shot

I think that if you do a little looking around, not even this is clear cut. The person pressing the button can be seen to hold the copyright in many cases. It's never simple.

???
You really dont know the difference between a more or less documentary photo of a painting (which can be considered as a copy) or a photo of a model which has a tatoo she paid for (which can be considered as a own, new artwork)????
Sean, this really surprises me!
If this would be true than the tattooartist would have a kind of sovereign power above the person the tattoo is on.
The model paid for a tattoo and after that she is not free anymore to do what she wants??
this is the most weird concept / idea i have ever heard of (beside timetravel)

@ppdd
what surprises me too is the absence of knowledge.
If someone makes a painting out of my photograph that painting is a piece of art which stands for itself if it has a certain level (Schpfungshhe http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sch%C3%B6pfungsh%C3%B6he)
thats a fact - even in law and even in international law.
so why should i complain about that??

First, tattoo designs are copyrightable: http://www.abajournal.com/magazine/article/tattoo_artists_are_asserting_their_copyright_claims/

Second, by the same logic, I can do anything I want with a painting I purchased? Not true.

It seem that SS has a clear concern about this issue.

If these people had tattoos of your photos, you would want a release required, right? The tattoo artists, if it's assumed that they hold the copyright to the design (I'm not sure if they always do, but it's certainly original art in many cases), should have some control of where their art is displayed.

I see a disturbing trend in this forum that dismisses the value of art other than photography. People decry the slighted devaluing of photography but are continually angry that they can't take advantage of other art forms.

Software / Re: !!! WARNING !!! PhotoStore from Ktools

What do you expect from site which sells Bux and other scam Ponzi Scheme scripts...

This is total nonsense. Ktools.net sells Ktools products.

Software / Re: !!! WARNING !!! PhotoStore from Ktools
« on: April 05, 2014, 16:50 »
I've had no problem with my Ktools site.  When I needed assistance they were responsive enough.  That was a couple of years ago, last version of Ktools.  Maybe they've changed since then.

Ditto. No big problems, seven years in. It's not all things to all people and you may have to do a bit of work to change it. Like everything.

Blah, Blah, Blah i this and i that, we have the Ivantage.

http://www.comscore.com/Insights/Blog/Android_vs_iOS_User_Differences_Every_Developer_Should_Know

More iPhone people make purchases. So #1 it's all about money, not platform.

(snipped)

Without getting into details, iOS is a much more predictable platform to develop for and the camera hardware is consistent and well known. It makes a ton of sense to deploy this for iOS first since there is obviously a huge user base. Android may have more devices out there, but fewer will meet required quality standards and the software is all over the place.

I played with this - descriptions and keywording on the mobile device is brutal. The interface is fine, but maybe I just don't text enough. Ugh...
