Thank you for bringing this to our attention as I have found I also sold a pic at this very issue, for a low price. In the past, I had sales on travel book guides or airport magazines editions but they were under 500.000 print runs so they fitted the licensing rights that Shutterstock sells. It does not feel rewarding to see your work paid so low but that was the license. In this case, with Depositphotos its different. If the magazine circulates more than 500k copies, my pic and your pics need to be paid as part of an extended license. Belavia says: Audience - more than 4 million people a year. Is it their personal estimate, counting heads or they actually print at that level? I will also contact Depositphotos, as I believe they were not aware of this use. In real life no one likes to be robbed and in such an unfortunate event calls the police, as simple as that. Here, if there is a misuse, we need to do an inquiry and protect our interests in a polite and formal way. We do not need witty comments about stock sales, we all need to be united on that.

What is important about your camera is that it has a global shutter and you can shoot DNG RAW video. This is great if you know how to colour correct your material. Such a video quality does magic in post production! Your video can fit any broadcast need and passes the requirements for a documentary production.

To put it in a sentence, 24 fps is considered a cinema standard while 23.976 a Broadcast TV one. If you are thinking of how to cover both cases, maybe just shoot at 23.976 but I don't know if you can do that at 4K DCI in your camera. The long explanation would involve details about how smooth each plays and which converts better to another format like a Blu-Ray or 25 fps. Now that with DVB-T digital TV we have no more PAL or SECAM most series air in 1080i. At the end it sounds confusing: Why use a DCI camera while most would just need to buy UHD? Maybe you get an enhanced stock sale in case someone as I mentioned needs a video for a bigger budget production and yours fits their project.

With 4K DCI you get a bit more horizontal pixels which in theory, in numbers, is better. You see your HD resolution change because the aspect ratio you record is 16:10, not 16:9. This means that if someone needs to fit your video, regardless of resolution, to a UHD or HD project, he will probably crop some pixels. Maybe you need to shoot a bit wider to cover this possibility. Almost the same is valid if you are using Super 35 mm mode. Also, check if you record exactly 24 fps instead of 23,976. Just a thought to conclude: Since 4K DCI is considered cinema mode and probably records at higher bitrate, you might benefit in stock from that if you shoot content that might fit a documentary or film production.

I have worked for news editing for many years. Yes, TV stations have subscriptions to news agencies like Reuters. For most that have not seen that material, try to think of it like the reels Reuters now sells priced more than 1.000 dollars in Pond, only at TV you pay a general subscription, get a script with time code, names of the ones interviewed and transcripts for subtitling. In the past that satellite feed was SD only, then 720p and you had to record that on tape or later XDCAM disc. Some years ago, you could also download that. Then, there are also the live feeds. Therefore, stock cannot compete with that. But, as Gorge_ says, this material might sell abroad, when for example a foreign channel needs archived material to insert on a story. A single stock clip is not enough to dress a 60 seconds or 2 minutes news story, where the most we keep the same video is 4-7 seconds. What I find disappointing is that Reuters for example goes inside a parliament for a news story and then has the right? to sell that to stock. Howe can I get that right too? When I go to visit a European Parliament and taking photos or videos is allowed, that is for personal use only, not stock. Why?
Well, if justice is blind who is heartless? Not us for sure!

Friends call me paranoid but heres what I do: I never delete memory cards before I perform a series of backups. First, a copy of shot photos and videos goes to internal drive of PC tower. Then this goes for a brief time, once, to an external HDD but is then deleted. After that, the unedited material is copied always twice or sometimes three times to single or double side Blu Ray disks, as data. The same happens with edited material that goes to two or three new Blu Ray disks. Aside that, the edited stuff is all uploaded to a web drive online and I extra pay for a fast transfer among FTPs. The cost for Blu Ray disks is the same with buying an external disk but I prefer to spread the danger. Naturally the Blu Ray data spins slower that the HDD and you have to change disks and use a Blu Ray drive, but the lack of movable mechanical parts promises the disks will last more than the drives. For those that wish to avoid the hassle, I suggest they buy 2 external HDDs and every two years, that prices drop, buy a new with double capacity to perform a third backup of the two first.
P.S. At day work, we use the 6,25 TB data cartridges for backup but the cost for buing the hardware to backup and restore these is out of the question!

Me too, I had the same thing. I contacted EyeEm and they responded it will take some time for the change to appear. Maybe they initially submit our pics to partners under one EyeEm name and when the process concludes this changes and credits back to our details. I am still waiting to see when the change happens with my name attributed to my image.

I own the Sony A 6300 for video and I know what I am going to say is going to raise serious doubts, but have a look at that: https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/image-comparison/fullscreen?attr29_0=sony_a6300&attr29_1=panasonic_dcgh5s&attr29_2=sony_a7riii&attr29_3=nikon_d850&attr72_0=4k&attr72_1=4k&attr72_2=4k&attr72_3=4k&normalization=full&widget=627&x=0.07927155164490508&y=-0.9308367990618966use mouse to move at any screen part and change to any camera you wish. (Sony A 6600 not included yet) Sony A 6300, 6500 & 6600 are more ore less the same. If we are to believe this chart, the A 6xxx have the sharpest video among rather all cameras. (probably due to downconvertion from 6K and smaller sensor) Does this mean they are better cameras? (always talking about video only). No, but they are probably the ones with the clearest video. This sounds too simplistic, as it does not take into consideration that Sony A 6300 have the worst rolling shutter and certainly much worse that the A7. There is also the fact about which lens are you using. I personally find I get better results with low noise in high ISO only if I am using the Super 35 setting, along with manual black level and less detail settings in camera. I might walk from 16 to 25 Km a day with my camera when I travel, so I prefer to hold the ligher one, compared to the bigger models.

Are there any thoughts about raising the number of allowed characters to captions (not in live news) from 150 to 200? That would help in a more detailed description. It would be better Alamy allows that option. After all, not all would make use of it. Sometimes I find the 150 characters not enough. This now might force me to ommit letters to fit a sentence, which naturally does not look proficient.

Why not just put a pin in Google Maps at your iPhone? This shows the coordinates and you don't have to use roaming data for that. Then, you could print screen it but it might just be easier to take a photo with your camera, right after the taken pick of the unknown place you are. True, you will have to manually write a long number again but if you save it with a star on Google maps when you are there, you just return home, open the maps and see where you have been.

At their page, If you procced with applying for being a contributor it says on "things to check before we start" that you have to tick "None of this footage is under exclusivity in another platform". This probably means they accept non-excluive clips but there is still no mention on percentage of earnings, based on clips and resolution. There is only a mention about the subscription price a cutomer has to pay, depending on resolution.

I am miles away from the 25.000 downloads but I have still sent the email with my small illustrative port. What Adobe Stock could do, aside illustrative editorials, is accept a limited per month number of editorial photos and videos until they shape an initial opinion. This could also discourage all contributors from uploading every single asset we have, since we would have to think twice about our content to send. It is not difficult to understand both sides lose earnings from not being able to do that. Such a move could make Adobe lower the risk they are probably trying to weigh prior to enabling editorial uploads.

That is the only real thing we earned with this virtual currency thing: actually ... nothing! Now, let's see how many of us will believe the promises of the next new agency to emerge! I can already imagine we will see the comments of those who were sceptical about them coming below!

The same for me. Two completed months without Pond 5 sales, only views. At the same time at Shutterstock i get monthly video sales. Chronologically, it coincides with the time I started uploading to Pond 5 exclusive also, put i paused exclusive uploads there, as i also saw no sales. I used to earn more in Pond 5 than Shutterstock in videos (even had enhanced video sales in Pond 5, giving me good return) but this is now reversed, only leaning towards Shutterstock.

After trying numerous times, I managed to upload some videos a couple of hours ago, but now I am unable to connect from Greece. Last post on the Shutterstock forums about the matter seems to be updated on Sunday, so nothing new from there also.

This seemed to be one of your relaxing pieces, always in my personal opininon! Wathing it, I thought (and hope) you could get stock sales in wide categories uses: travel blogs, TV, documentaries, or even films. Maybe you could inform us in the future months to come if such content sells more! Just interested! No, I do not do aerials or own a drone!

I decided to take the time and honestly respond to the survey. It could not be completed, it did not work. I email them and they know corrected. What is not "corrected" is that i still have zero sales there. 828 pics, 26.000 views, 13 starred images.

I do not own the camera but, when it came out, some users and the DJI forum offered original video files to download and evaluate. During daylight, the stabilisation was very convincing handheld, if you want to pan and move. If you want to walk, steps motion is not eliminated, you can still see and imagine someone is walking up and down. It also does easy and nice time-lapses in panning, if you leave it on a tripod stand. What I did not like is that, if you inspect the file at 100 % frame size on a PC monitor (not on a 4K TV that optimizes video) there is a visible noise in the shadows. I cannot judge if this is more or less than a GoPro 7 records when in 4K, or my Samsung S10 (which mobile I find having less noise at 60 than 30 fps in 4K) but I would not like to spend my time trying to denoise 4K material or sacrifice export to HD to avoid noise. I just beleive one mostly buys that DJI for handheld panning shots. If someone found a forum or a review with original new model DJI Osmo Action video links to download, please post, as it would be interesting to evaluate how these at 100 Mbps compare to GoPro Hero 7, since many already comment they do not like the crop the new Osmo Action does at 4K, to compensate for smoother than GoPro stabilisation.

The volume of the music is far too high. I had to stop looking after two minutes because of the variations in the volume level at the limit of what is acceptable (not really in the LUFS standards). It really gives the impression that Adobe can't afford it.... It's actually counterproductive in the end.
[/quote]
I was just about to comment the same: You fail to focus on the video content when you hear such volume fluctuations. One one hand we use Adobe products, with latest Premiere advertising the ease of audio match levels in vocals for example and on the other hand someone exposes Mat, diminishing his effort. I mean, I work as a video editor in broadcast TV and no matter the rush, I always look down right in Premiere to check sound volume when I mix (usually 4) differerent tracks. Here someone leaves us with the feeling that never bothered to look, or listen, to the final video prior to export. These are the kind of mistakes that give room to negative comments.

That must finally happen. If we have a still video, with not much action, we are usually ok. But imagine when we for example have a revealing shot and you start from a wall to move to the right! You end up with an empty looking frame! Who is going to ever click that preview?

Hi georgep7! You mean these? Let's see if younger ones know what a BETACAM SP is! This one is actually broken!
(Not going to be used for stock anyway!)

They also always avoided to answer all my questions, making communication problematic. In the past I had to ask again and again, even numbering questions, but they just responded what they wanted. Regardless If their answers would satisfy me or not, they just seemed to say what they wanted, like one talks and the other never listens but only waits to speak his part. That was not good communication. They also asked me to update my tax info and that took them months to do. Was that their way of thinking I would be upset and give up earlier, who knows? They also said they would let me know if they deleted my assets but never wrote back. Even now, at the end, that is bad communication. Instead, without me being informed, I am logged out and can't enter my account. They also never offered any suggestions for sales increase and when I asked how do they judge unique or similar clips or quality, they never reponded. I should add here that I work as a professional video editor in Broadcast TV for more than 25 years, from the era of Betacam, when we just dropped U-Matic and then started using Betacam tapes with external video vectorscopes and jogs on Sony BVW or PVW videos, so you guess that at least my clips were Broadcast safe! At least on some local or European events my clips were not widely offered on stotck agencies, yet they failed to sell by the numbers on them, plus living in Greece, I had a 30 % tax deduction, without them ever providing details about the country of sales. I had to insist for months that they wrongly did that on my photo sales and at the end they accepted it.

They informed me they would close my account in a month, with a mention they would help me with suggestions to avoid that. Since I had zero sales for months, I responded they should not wait and get over with it immediatelly! That was the first time they acted fast and they deleted all my assets in a couple of days, although I am still waiting for the relative email to confirm that! Now, as I was telling other stock friends, I feel as relieved as if I was going to break up with a girlfriend I knew I was never going to be forever with but was just postponing for a last night with her, to ... kiss her goodbye!

Well, now that you mention it, I did respond on a follow up e-mail that I was happy about the fast response time but not happy with the answer, as to me it did not give a specific response to all my questions! I was polite so I hope it's not that! I guess it's always better to blame the others! We are never wrong! That's I think when you know you are crazy! When you always think all the others are wrong and only you are right!

I second that emotion wih zero sales. I am also exclusive but for the first time I had 0 sales in consecutive 30 days at my non exclusive account, despite having larger than usual views.
