Well, it makes me proud to know that some of my images shot 10 years ago with canon 400d one month after I started photography as a hobby still comply with your new quality guidelines! I was soooo good even at that time!  8)

But still it is surprising that thousands of my images shot with professional equipment after I became a professional photographer do not aligh with your new quality guidelines. And these images are the ones that earned me literally hundreds of thousands of dollars, not the first ones :)

Anyway, I am still not convinced.

All my images on photodune were deleted except for around 400 (which are moslty from first batch (and they are not really good, they are 10 years old) and a few last batches). And these 400 are definitely not the best sellers. So it looks like they have just deleted 89% or portfolio without choosing which images to delete and which ones to retain.

Also I saw in my earnings that (surprise, surprise) Austrailian tax cut is 30%.

So I have to upload my portfolio again to elements, spend time, attach releases. And with my 10+ years experience in microstock (and macrostock) industry I have serious doubts that these efforts will be repaid.

10 agencies x $100/month each = extra $1000 a month

Do EyeEm require exclusivity?

I suppose they have to if they sell through Getty

Being the featured photographer there doesn't push the sales (from my experience).
So blogging in a blog that nobody reads and cares about...  :o

DT is slowly dying, that is a fact.

One more thing to consider:
the image can be bought by SR-EL1 license (you don't know it beforehand) which means 1 year exclusivity, and in this case you get much less than 50% of set price (my last such sale earned me $31.25, same as usual extended license). Nevertheless you have to delete the image from all agencies. Is it worth the trouble?

A lot of good photographers (including myself  :)) from countries where Paypal is not working (Russia (well, Russia only to some degree), Belarus, Ukraine) cannot use Symbiostock.

for me it doesn't show information for referrals with images. For ones with footage it works fine though...

Microstock Services / Re: Online offshore retouching services
« on: September 23, 2011, 23:38 »
really? I've never heard about such thing called "google"  :)

Yesterday I have sent some files for free trial to several services - so far only one has answered with quoted price for $1 for image clipping path.

Microstock Services / Online offshore retouching services
« on: September 23, 2011, 05:57 »
Hello all,
Does anybody have any experience using online service for image retouching (for example, clipping path making)?
Usually these are the offshore companies with production center in India or Bangladesh.

I am trying to find one for me to do object isolation for product shots.

Currently I live in India and several times got phone calls from several such companies (I have absolutely no Idea how the got my phone number).

So far I have contacted one of them - www.clippingpathindia.com, (I think they also made several phone calls to me before) and was really dissappointed. This is a small review of how they work with potential clients.

Despite the price of $0.39 for clipping path displayed on their website they quoted me "a little bit" higher price of $3.99. Also they have requested an advanced  payment (again, their website says that invoice is sent only after the client accepts the properly done job). I know very well that in India if you want the job done well do it yourself pay only after the job is finished so I could not agree to this condition.

Of course I have asked why the price is different - for that there was no answer.

But at least I got the answer for my second question "Why you want and advanced payment from me despite the fact that your website says different?" - an the answer was brilliant (I will quote it): "Yes you are right we accept payment after the job is done. But for you its different because you are from India" (though from my name and surname it is absolutely clear that I am not Indian)

So how am I supposed to trust such company that don't trust potential clients from the very beginning? Their attitute to a new client is absolutely unaccpetable and quite rude...

So I am still in search for good retouching offshore company with reasonable prices and good quality of work. I have contacted some other companies and still waiting for quote from them. The problem is that the prices displayed on their websites are "for illustrative purposes only" :) and real prices are higher.

Any suggestions are welcome.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Finding a partner

surpasspro, why don't you try to go with production agencies which submit images not only to Alamy, but to many partner macrostock agencies (including Corbis, Getty) simultaneously. As far as I know they take your RAW files, postprocess them, keyword (you supply only captions) and submit. But, of course, you pay them more than 40%. That is the way many photographers work.
Alamy alone is very time consuming...
