I have noticed that uploading new files on Thursday and Friday is a bad idea. The submissions will get reviewed and put into the search database just in time for the weekend slow down. So by Monday your files won't be fresh and at the top of the search results. (Newest first, the default)
Last weekend I uploaded late Saturday night but they didn't get reviewed until late Monday. Going to try Saturday at about noon this weekend. It's a science I tell ya!

Never thought of it this way --- just uploaded some and got approved late yesterday (Friday) so I'll keep this in mind for my next round... did just sell one of the new ones so someone's shopping on Saturday.

LOL, I have fat fingers and f is next to d.  Have fixed it now.  Thanks for your comments.  I am impressed with other peoples comments.  I like taking photos but struggle thinking of things to say about them.

On mine, just say "people who buy this shot have great taste and will surely be successful in all they do - I've never seen a collection of better photos"  ;D

I will go through all the links on this thread and give some positive comments.  Please have a look at mine.

Just uploaded a lot of my photos and had 3 sales yesterday.  One of them was a $25 el :)

Congrats on the sale!  Thanks for the comments on some of my shots -- I've left a few on yours - simple and effective concepts in your portfolio.

I would agree that if xpt accepted a flower shot it is probably a very good flower shot.  I show no restraint in photographing and uploading flower shots.  They, along with autumn leaves (and, oddly my husband staining our deck), are my best producers.  I enjoy looking at flower shots and making money from them :)    BTW, that's shot of yours had wonderful light and creamy colors.  BOL

I deleded pixvue also when I was attempting to clean up my hard drive. I tried system restore and was able to recover it. Have you tried that. Go to the the date before you deleded it.

thanks for the suggestion but I don't know when I deleted it - it was just gone one day  ???

I've been using the photoinfo (mentioned earlier) - I do like that the keywords are not in alphabetical order.  Cannot seem to modify >1 file at a time.  Really don't like that it doesn't "remember" keywords you've used before.  I'm such a bad speller that this is becoming a pain in the ash  ;D

I sold a cool one - for .50 to Dreamstime!  They used it on their site's blog.  Here's the link -- mine's the one with all the magnetic words on it.  (just thought I'd share  :-[ )

I uploaded a bunch of images there - took a very long time as they wanted packages.  Been over a year (I think) and no activity at all and I forgot about them.  I'll keep my eye on them.  Thanks for the heads-up.

I just found it on versiontracker.com. Looks like it is still available for download.

Thanks for the link.  I appreciate you looking and posting.  Bad news, however, it crashed my computer -- not sure why but I'm not going to download that copy.

Thanks CJPhoto -- I'll look into the MS product .  I'm not a fan of the background talking some software does (Adobe and MS are two that seem to do it in all their products) but who is?  I just wish I knew what they were saying  :D

Off Topic / Re: Selling prints?
March 03, 2007, 21:30
I have had some modest luck with DP Prints (part of dpchallenge.com) but they are fussy about sizes. I've also tried ebay and americanframe.com with no luck on either.  Ebay was simple to upload/advertise but it costs per listing and would have cost more if I sold one.  American Frame was free but painful to create "product packages" size/matt/frame.  This took a lot of time but provided viewing but no sales.  Sorry to offer no "good" news.  Best of luck

I've been using Pixvue to add keywords and for the most part was very happy with the freeware.  Somehow I deleted my copy but when I search the web to download another I get the message that the software is no longer being maintained -- just a screen and no site.

Is it just me  ???  Looks like I'll need to find a replacement.

Site    Jan   Feb   Mar   Apr
SS     37%  19%
DT     22%  14%
IS      22%  21%
FT     14%  18%
FP       1%   2%
StockXpert    4%   10%
LO      0%   16%

A couple of extended license sales in IS, FT, and LO and none this month in SS shifted the results a lot.  Bottom line: Best month ever in terms of total sales and IS is number one for the first time.

PS: I must be totally goofy as I could not get the auto table thing to work .

Yes, I've seen a bit of an increase but not 30%.  Overall slower sales and very, very few accepted photos recently.

admart01 please refine your links!!

You have posted links to your modify image page, go to your portfolio (not online files in management area) click on the neglected image and make the links from there

Sorry for the faulty links -- here's the "good" ones

Thanks and oops (that's what I get for doing a partial read-through)

Like the notion of the lightbox and will keep checking as the new images from others are added.  Also appreciate the invite on the CN.  I see I'm not the only one who as more than one name -- don't know why I do that   :D

Hi Admart,

I picked two of them, because the last one has still over a week to go before it is older than a month. Thats what we decided on, when images should be considered neglected.. I will try to remember and add it in 10 days or so..

I'd like to -- how do I do it?  My name on IS is phototerry.

I discovered Sutterstock and Dreamstime in the fall of 2005.  Also contributed to an up-and-coming site that never got traction (pinupinoo) where I had the honor of talking to Rachel a few times.  She knows a lot about the business and I so valued the opportunity to get a few tips.

I would bet that it is the same designer. Each company potentially processes the images in different ways, so to download the same image from different sites would make lots of sense.
Nice image by the way.

could you explain a bit more?  Why not just use the same image you paid once for?  Why different sites?  Thanks -- I'm always looking to learn a bit more about how designers might use an image.

The disambiguation has me baffled though. Now I have gone and done my entire portfolio (pooload of work). And I've basically noticed three things:

1. Disambiguation didn't help at all my older very well selling files (which are no longer well selling)
2. It helped a lot my older not so well selling files (which are now well selling)
3. One file that HASN'T been disambiguated started selling like hotcakes (40 times half a month): stupid me... I disambiguated it and now it hasn't sold once since October 30th...

So I suggest doing a very careful portfolio analysis and disambiguating your files on a case to case basis.

I have no where near the volume but the trend is the same -- once hot shots now don't sell.  Actually any shot I editted hasn't sold since I changed it.  Send an email to istock on this and got back a "list all the shots you changed ...." which isn't worth the effort.  Good news is I'm making a small amount from shots that haven't been active sellers.

Just got my three shots accepted and have started uploading.  Super fast approvals and a motivating comment or two on some of my shots -- nice touch.  I cannot get the ftp link to work (my side I'm sure) so we're uploading 5 at a time.  I have older shots saved to disc that don't have titles/keywords/desc. so I'm having to cut and paste from already uploaded spots (when available) so this is quite an investment.  Here's hoping all of us do well.
