On iStock, for a lightbox to be public, it must have more than 20 photos and more than one photog pictures in it.
I have on on Morocco with abuot 30 odd pictures from various people (though mainly myself - I choose morocco as it is the theme with the most photos of mine). I choose other peoples photos who complemented mine rather than direrctly compete.
However, Morocco is not a popular topic so I have only had one view in the past 2 weeks.
I think I have a picture of Roman ruins in someones lightbox and that is my biggest selling photo. If you have a good photo, you can send a light to the owner of a lightbox and they can choose to add if they want - there are a few general ones like 5 star with no sales (they get removed once there is a sale) and first ever download, 5 of 5 for new joiners (upto 5 5 star photos for photgs with less than 500 DL). Any of these general ones can increase exposure but as they are general, seriuos desigers probably dont look at them.
As I get more photos and more themes, i will probably do more lightboxes. I have not used them at other sites.

Then I like the current system. FP has implemented thumbnails and even though I only a a few sales, I have to scroll to the bottom of the page just to find out that nothing else has sold (if it was just a line entry per sale, it would fit on one page)
Expanding options like shutterstock or 123rf are good. ie. daily summary then click to see detail including thumbs.

Thumbnails in the downloaded images page, that's neat. I also have the same problem of images in a series with the same title. I dont like thumbnails as if you have lots of sales, the page becomes to big. It should "click" through to the photo or maybe pop up when you hoover.

I thought it needed 20-30 to be in the top 50. I currently have 10 sales in 2 days and not yet (worst thing is it is a crap picture)
Do you think that people look at the portfolios of people in teh top 50, therefore giving you more exposure?? (no one would look at my portfolio if abovementioned photo hits top 50).

Can you send them any 200 photos or have they asked for specific ones?
Could be good for the reject pile, last chance option??

Is there no paypal???
I also think they have to reduce the payout threshold as with a new site with slow sales, $100 is a lot. Of the new sites, I think only 123rf has a $100 limit. Fotolia and StockXpert have $50. SS has $75 and with a lot more sales.
There is no incentive to submit if it takes to long for a payout. Note that we have all joined so far in the hope you will do well. If things dont move, we wont submit and may even remove photos.

Sure leaf, maybe you misunderstood me. I think the money should spend to get buyers to the site. For example i really don't know why shutterstock still have a referal program for photogs they have enough pictures. A good performing site will attract enough photogs in very short time without any referal program simply look at StockXpert the do it in the right way.
Definately need a buyer referal system. I would also do a photographer referral system initially (though may get rid of it after a period (with a grandfather scheme for those who have already referred). You need to get buyers but one way is to have a big portfolio - if they cant find what they are looking for, they will go elsewhere and not come back. Most sites need to spend more on marketing, LO is not alone.

They also make memory cards and photographic paper which digital photos are printed on.
Other than their strong brand, they have never really been competitive in digital and they have got out far to late.

Shutterstock also has it easy as it only does one payment run a month. It doesn't have to worry about it the rest of the month. It just runs one report, uploads that into its payment system and it is done. All the rest that payout when requested have to do that dayly. I am supprised they dont work on a weekly system. ie al those requested by Friday, we will do a payment run on monday so it will go out on tuesday etc.

It took me atleast a week.
Note that at FT, you can cash out at any time and provided the amount is above $50, there is no charge to do so (less than $50 it costs $1).

Forums can be good, others a complete waste of time - just look at the longest thread thread at SS.
This forum is good as it sticks to facts and information with no games or other craaap.

That has been there a while. They need to get referrals up promptly to start drinving traffic to the site IMO.

Another point however, for tiff, is that by NOT allowing tiff files they are locking themselves out of being able to accept files that have had brand name cloning, or compisitions of numerous images.
I think this is the main thing.

I note you are using tinyurl.com. Is it worth it. If the site goes dead, you will have lots of dead links.

shutterstock has a two year life on affiliates. fotolia has a 5 year lilfe for affiliates. Therefore fotoliaprogram is better but the sales volume at shutterstock makes it better. I am actually getting my most referal income from dreamtime but unfortunately that only has a 6 month life as you mention above.

I could understand Tiff, but not raw.
will work for some things but if there are any logos etc that need cloning, that cant be done in raw (can it). I assume taht when you adjust white balance etc in raw, these settings (which can be changed with no harm to photo) can be save to the raw photo, much like the incamera defulst settings?? (not a raw user yet)

Try and find where the categories are used. Apparently the plan is to be able to do searchs using multiple categories but I cant find it on the site.

the worst thing about categories there is that they aren't even use yet, but you have to do it incase they implement what they say they will in the future.
I find the image manager does save time.

You only get 60% if you are the first 30,000 exlcusive photos. Otherwise you get a small 30%.

I currently use coffeecup but I dont think it is that stable (it keeps dropping connetions). Is filezilla free? It appears to be the main one that people use.

I think Gracy has had a payout. It would be an ideal site if you can drive sales to them due to the high payout.

I would report, especially if all photos have identical words but different subjects. They should then give the person a chance to update.
Keywords should be customised for the image.

iStocks best marketing ploy is their exclusives and their quality. They have some good photographers there submitting full time.
For this reason, iStock will always be popular with designers.
