There is plenty of 3d on iStock.  If you want to back up your argument, you need to post some examples.

Freaking *insult removed*!

I like your crossing guard image.  That one really jumped out at me.  You should link your Getty link to your user name so people can see your portfolio.

I use Maya.

The big money is in laptops, with little lines between them, with globes in the middle and RSS symbols above.

Incidentally he is edging Sean out on dls on IS ...

I have 1/20 of his costs, so I'm not particularly concerned. :)

Ultimately we are all in competition with each other so I don't really get the point of threads like this, and also doubt whether the guys above would be freely sharing their strategies.

Exactly.  We're not doing wedding photos 1000 miles from each other.  We're all in direct competition.

You didn't mention how the next "someone with deep pockets" in going to help us all raise prices and keep market share while fending off the subscription sites and not having their wallet as first priority.  That's what I was interested in.

One way this could change is if we could find some very deep pockets that want to take a couple of years to take this market over.

Yeah, they were called Getty.

I think one option for agencies to really compete is to go back to the days of paying 40% or 50% to their shooters so the people that treat this as their career can still compete and the weekend warrior can make a few more bucks for their family vacation.

I make 40% at iStock, btw...

7558
Ah, ok.  Why, leaf, are you going to start selling images here ;) ?

7559
I still don't know what he's asking...

Now, most of us will never approach his talent level....

Yes, more work that it is worth.

Well, most people hiring non-model models stepping in front of the camera for the first time aren't going to make thousands off of the images.  I'm all for compensating where compensation is due, but I see no reason to pay first time college students $50/hour.

$10-$20 is the right range for non-model models.

If that does occur though there will be lots of other Macro shooters making the change.

That doesn't sound like such a great thing.  If people think they have problems now keeping up their ROI...

I think you should put them all on midstock ;)

Yes, I agree with epixx.  Probably got it from one of those logo farms.

7570
That's ok - it's brand new, and targeted toward helping the buyer, particularly, the iStock buyer.

My college Photography Prof use to say " If you share your secrets you'll just have to come up with new ones and that will keep you fresh".

Ha!  Like I don't have enough to do :)  Don't worry, I answer plenty of questions.  I just don't go about filming tutorials on how to duplicate the way I do things.

Thanks for the compliment.

I suppose I would have actually put real stockings on her, like in the image.  The painted on bit looks a bit odd.  Relatively speaking.

Yeah, that would've helped. :)

7574
I will only try to capitalize on what you offer.

Exactly why I don't find it in my (or others) best interest to try and teach people to take over for me.

Besides, too busy shooting and editing to make home movies like that.

Looks like "She Hulk" with a bad tan.  Sorry.
